Abstract: This disclosure describes novel aralkyl imidazoles, their acid addition salts, their metal complex salts and processes for their preparation. These compounds possess biological activity and in particular are useful as systemic protectant/eradicant fungicidal agents for controlling plant diseases caused by fungi and as plant growth regulators. The metal complex salts of these compounds are particularly useful in their ability to reduce undesirable plant growth regulatory activity and phytotoxicity while retaining their ability for controlling plant diseases caused by fungi.

Abstract: This invention relates to a quantitative analytical method for the isolation and determination of 3-isothiazolones in aqueous or nonaqueous media. The method involves isolating the isothiazolone by adsorbing it on a support; treating the isothiazolone with a reducing agent thereby cleaving the ring; reacting the resulting sulfhydryl group with a color forming reagent whose color development is directly proportional to the concentration of the isothiazolone and measuring the isothiazolone concentration via a calibrated color comparator or colorimeter.
Abstract: Novel compounds belonging to the class of 3-carboxy (or the physiologically acceptable salts thereof), 3-carbalkoxy, and 3-carbamoyl-1-alkyl-4,6-disubstituted pyrid-2-ones. These compounds possess biological activity and in particular are gametocides and plant growth regulators. Novel 3-cyano-1-alkyl-4,6-disubstituted pyrid-2-ones are also disclosed as intermediates.

Abstract: Novel compounds belonging to the class of 1-substituted benzylpyrid-2-one-4,6-dialkyl and 4,5,6-trisubstituted-3-carboxylic acids, amides, esters and physiologically acceptable salts. These compounds possess biological activity and in particular are gametocides and plant growth regulators.Novel 1-substituted benzyl-3-cyano-4,5,6-trisubstituted pyrid-2-ones are also disclosed as intermediates.
Abstract: This invention concerns the preparation of 1-substituted imidazole metal salt complexes and their use particularly as systemic fungicides. The preparation of the metal salt complexes of these imidazoles produces a safening effect, i.e., the ability to reduce undesirable plant growth regulatory activity and phytotoxicity while retaining the efficacy of the compounds against phytopathogenic fungi.

Abstract: This invention relates to the selective herbicidal activity of fluoroaminopyridazines. In particular, these compounds exhibit preemergence and postemergence herbicidal activity on many of the major weeds including perennial weeds such as nutsedge and quackgrass. These compounds are particularly effective in selectively controlling weeds in agronomic crops.

Abstract: The pressure sensitive adhesive of this invention has improved shear resistance while still having good tackiness and stability in a humid atmosphere, it is prepared by solution polymerization, or by other methods, and has carboxylic acid groups therein, an alkoxyalkyl ester of an unsaturated carboxylic acid, an hydroxyalkyl ester of an unsaturated carboxylic acid having at least one hydroxyl functionality and, in many cases, an alkyl acrylate or an alkyl methacrylate. A crosslinker may be used, and the adhesive cured by heat, without destroying the proper relationship of tack and shear resistance.

Abstract: A continuous process for the preparation of acrylic and methacrylic acid esters by conventional esterification, where sufficient substantially anhydrous product ester is added to the esterification reactor to satisfy the ester/alkanol and ester/water azeotropes, the low boiling azeotropes are recovered, thereby removing crude product ester, unreacted alkanol and water of esterification from the esterification reactor, while leaving substantially all the high-boiling unreacted acrylic or methacrylic acid in the reactor.
Abstract: This invention relates to large pore macroreticular ion exchange resins which contain chemically or physically bound microbiocides or combinations thereof. This invention also relates to methods of preparation of these microbiocidal compositions and their use in purifying aqueous solutions which are microbially contaminated.
Abstract: Fungicidal or algicidal agents are provided which consist of a copper salt of an acid which is an unsaturated dibasic acid of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or lower alkyl together with an inorganic copper compound which is sparingly soluble or insoluble in water for example basic copper chloride, basic copper sulfate, basic copper carbonate, copper silicate, cuprous oxide, basic copper phosphate and copper hydroxide. The copper salt and the inorganic copper compound are preferably divided a finely as possible and thereafter mixed. The compositions are of low toxicity, provide a lasting effect and do not give rise generally to secondary noxious products.
Abstract: This invention relates to substituted arylcyanoalkyl and diarylcyanoalkylimidazoles, their acid addition salts and their metal salt complexes and their use as broad spectrum protectant-eradicant fungicides.

Abstract: Fibers in non-woven fibrous products are bonded together by a binder comprising a heat-cured product of a water insoluble copolymer of (i) an N-methylolamide which is N-methylolacrylamide or N-methylolmethacrylamide, and (ii) an acrylic acid ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and a C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alkanol, modified with (iii) a polyalkylene glycol of the formulaHO--(RO).sub.n --Hwherein R is an alkylene group of 2 to 6 carbon atoms and n is a number having an average value of 4 to 50. Preferred acrylic acid esters are ethyl acrylate and butyl acrylate, and the preferred polyalkylene glycol is a polyethylene glycol characterized by a molecular weight in the range of 300 to 2000. The copolymer may also contain units derived from unsaturated aliphatic carboxylic acids. Preferably the copolymer contains units derived from itaconic acid.
