  • Patent number: 4032451
Abstract: A fluid filter device having a filter chamber and a cylindrical bypass valve mounted so as to be rotatable about its longitudinal axis between a filtering position and a bypass position. In the bypass position the fluid passes from one end of the valve through to its opposite end toward the filter outlet; in the filtering position the fluid passes through a side opening in the valve to the filter chamber and then is returned to the bypass valve before being discharged through the filter outlet.

  • Patent number: 4029444
Abstract: A rotary piston machine of the type having a slant or precessing rotor or the type having a parallel axis rotor, such as a Wankel engine, having a rotor seal grid formed from peripheral and apex seals which are connected together at their adjacent ends by connectors, often called bolts, located in sockets in the rotor. An arcuate seal extends peripherally around each bolt in the manner of a piston ring between the peripheral surface of the bolt and the adjacent peripheral wall of the socket in which the bolt is located, to effect sealing between the peripheral walls of the bolt and the socket without inhibiting relative movement of the bolt in the socket.

  • Patent number: 4027675
Abstract: Hair is implanted in skin by stitching the hair in a manner to form loops which pass through the subcutaneous tissue and to leave a length of hair protruding from each point of entry of the hair into the skin and a length of hair protruding from each exit point of the hair from the skin. A length of hair from one such stitch is tied to a length of hair from a second such stitch. A novel frame comprising a plurality of spaced posts is suggested for holding loops of hair during the stitching. A novel needle has a diameter of about 0.003-0.006 inches and is provided with a hole for threading at its pointed end.

  • Patent number: 4027867
Abstract: A workpiece holder is provided for selectively clamping a workpiece to a work table. The workpiece holder comprises a base secured to the table, an elongated clamp member positioned above the base and generally parallel thereto, and a bending arm secured at one end to the base and at its other end to the clamp member at a point intermediate the longitudinal ends of the clamp member thus dividing the clamp member into a first and second leg. The bending arm is dimensioned so as to form a slot having a predetermined width between the base and the first leg of the clamp member. A plunger is axially received within the slot and includes an upper inclined surface adapted to abut against the first leg of the clamp member and force the first leg away from the base as the plunger is moved axially into the slot. Simultaneously, the bending arm bends so that the second leg of the clamp member moves toward the work table for clampingly engaging the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4027899
Abstract: A trailer for a motorcycle including a hitch formed of two parallel flat plates attached to the trailer by a hinge having a transversely disposed horizontal axis. Another flat plate is sandwiched between the two parallel plates and the plates are fastened together by a pin inserted through holes in the plates to form a hinge having a vertical axis. Tubular members are mounted to the motorcycle and receive extensions adjustably mounted to the inner flat plate to thereby attach the trailer to the motorcycle. The trailer also has a resilient suspension system for the trailer road wheel which is adjustable to compensate for various loads carried on the trailer and is formed in a manner such that wind acting on the top of the trailer acts to urge the trailer downwardly to thus stabilize the trailer when in use.

  • Patent number: 4021954
Abstract: A sight mount is provided for securing a telescopic sight to the barrel of a rifle. The sight mount comprises a bracket which clampingly engages the rifle barrel and includes an upper portion having a tongue members which extend parallel to but spaced from the axis of the rifle barrel. A sight adapter is provided to secure the telescopic sight to the bracket and includes elongated channel members which cooperate with the tongue members formed on the upper portion of the bracket so that the telescopic sight may be axially positioned along the rifle barrel. Threaded fasteners provide a means whereby the width between the grooves in the sight adapter may be adjusted so that when proper axial position of the telescopic sight is obtained, tightening the threaded members clamps the sight adapter onto the bracket and compressibly locks the tongue and groove members together thereby prohibiting further axial movement of the sight adapter, and hence the telescopic sight, relative to the rifle barrel.

  • Patent number: 4022542
Abstract: An improved transpiration cooled turbine blade has a porous wall for the passage of coolant fluid therethrough; the wall comprising an outer porous layer, a second layer with relatively large holes, and a third layer with metering holes for the cooling fluid. There is provision for the direct passage of coolant to the edges of the blade, which edges are single layered. Slots near the trailing edge of the blade direct a portion of the cooling fluid outwardly at a right angle to the blade's concave surface to reduce drag losses due to flow separation under conditions of high blade loading.

  • Patent number: 4022466
Abstract: An attachment for a hockey helmet is provided which, when attached, obstructs the downwardly extending vision of the helmet wearer. The attachment generally comprises a flat arcuate member constructed of a flexible and opaque material. The arcuate member is attached to the helmet so that it extends forwardly of the helmet in a generally horizontal plane and below the eye opening of the helmet. Consequently, with the hockey helmet worn on the head of a hockey player, the arcuate member obstructs the downwardly extending vision of the player. Adjustment means are provided for both vertically and horizontally positioning the arcuate member relative to the helmet.
