  • Patent number: 4711139
Abstract: The present invention provides for improvements made to the infinitely variable rotary drive transmission U.S. Pat. No. 4,557,161 dated Dec. 10, 1985, having an input member and an output member rotatably mounted to a housing. Two articulated shafts are rotatably mounted on two slides such that the degree of articulation can be varied in infinite increments by operating a lever mounted on the housing. The two articulated shafts are connected rotatably and synchronously. The input member through a substantial speed reduction drives the articulated shafts. The articulated shafts are connected by rods to a pair of cooperating overrunning clutch assemblies mounted on an intermediate shaft which in turn is rotatably mounted on the housing. Another clutch assembly is mounted on the intermediate shaft to restrict its movement to one direction only. The intermediate shaft through a substantial speed increase drives the output member.

  • Patent number: 4706801
Abstract: A roller having a torque overload release mechanism for use with an accumulating roller conveyor system. A shaft is rotatably mounted to a frame for the conveyor system while a drive sprocket is rotatably mounted to one end of the shaft. A first friction pad is secured to the shaft and abuts against one end of the drive sprocket while a second friction pad is axially slidably mounted to the shaft and abuts against the other axial end of the drive sprocket. A nut variable compresses one or more belleville washers against the second friction pad to thereby drivingly connect the drive sprocket and shaft together and yet permit torque overload release when the torque between the shaft and the sprocket exceeds a predetermined but adjustable amount.

  • Patent number: 4704921
Abstract: A differential gear drive having two output shafts each coupled through a differential gear train to a common input gear. The differential gear train comprises an annulus gear engaging the input gear, planet gears and a sun wheel. The output shaft is connected to a planet carrier and the output shaft is connected to the sun wheel. A pair of cam rings are rotatably coupled to the respective output shafts and are respectively coupled via clutch teeth to clutch rings respectively, which are engageable separately with a pair of meshing reference gears. The reference gear is rotatably fixed by a countershaft to the input gear. When both output shafts are driving against substantially equal torques the clutch rings are both disengaged from the reference gear and so the drive to each shaft is via the differential gear train.

  • Patent number: 4702709
Abstract: An electrical plug retainer for a cover plate includes a bracket pivotally mounted with respect to the cover plate mounted over an electrical socket housing. The retaining bracket includes a retaining bar, a pair of parallel legs extending from the ends of the retaining bar, and inwardly extending projections on the free ends of the legs adapted to engage a recess formed in the peripheral edge of the cover plate. Preferably, the retaining bracket conforms with the peripheral shape of the cover plate so that it can be pivoted to lie flush against the wall adjacent the peripheral edge of the cover plate. The retaining bracket can also be pivoted outwardly from the wall for engagement with the electrical cord attached to a plug inserted within the wall socket. • Patent number: 4703158
Abstract: A high frequency resistance welding system having a pair of jaws which are pivotally mounted together and are adapted to clampingly engage the work to be welded therebetween. Each jaw has two arms and each arm has a welding tip which engages the work. The welding tips on the arms on one jaw register with the welding tips on the arms on the other jaw. A high frequency alternating electric power source is connected to the first jaw so that the direction of current flow in one arm of the first jaw is opposite from the direction of current flow in the other arm of the first jaw so that the magnetic field caused by the current flow through one arm is substantially offset or cancelled by the current flow through the other arm of the first jaw. In addition, each welding arm is preferably L-shaped thus having an elongated shank with the welding tip at one end of the shank.

  • Patent number: 4700742
Abstract: An automatic shut-off device for interrupting flow to a remote system in response to a flow fault associated with the remote system. The device generally includes a flow detection assembly, which senses the fluid flow through the remote system, and a fault detection assembly, which detects an interruption in the flow associated with the remote system and accordingly shuts-off fluid flow through the flow detection assembly. The flow and fault detection assemblies are remotely housed yet are mechanically connected by a common valve stem which connects the fault valve assembly with the flow interruption assembly. A metering assembly disposed in the flow detection assembly is responsive to the fluid flow and provides a visual indication of the flow rate through the system. Also provided are means for manually resetting the device in order to provide fluid flow upon correction of the fault.
