  • Patent number: 7118051
Abstract: A rotor nozzle includes a nozzle housing having an inlet opening at one end and an outlet opening at another end and has a rotor which is arranged in a turbulence chamber and which is provided at its front end facing the outlet opening. A nozzle is supported in a cup bearing and has an inflow opening. A bypass device changes a radial or a tangential component of the liquid flowing into the turbulence chamber, which sets the rotor into rotation. A control surface is provided in the turbulence chamber. A restoring device is provided which is active between the front end of the rotor and the rear rotor end, wherein as the rotor rotary speed increases, the inclination of the rotor increases against the action of a restoration force of the restoring device and the restoring device reduces the rotor inclination as the rotor rotary speed decreases.

  • Patent number: 7104698
Abstract: There is disclosed an improved bearing and particularly an improved bearing assembly (15, 15A), eg. a thrust bearing assembly, which may be used in down-hole applications, such as down-hole drilling applications. Thrust bearing assemblies for use in down-hole applications have the conflicting requirements of a thick shaft assembly and high axial load bearing capacity in a small cross-section. The invention, therefore, provides: a bearing assembly (15, 15A) having at least two bearing elements (400, 400A) spaced by a first body (500, 500A), the first body (500, 500A) having means for flexing. Thus when a load is applied to the bearing assembly (15, 15A) the first body (500, 500A) is caused to flex. In an embodiment the flexing means comprise at least one circumferential groove or notch (510, 510A) formed on the first body (500, 500A).

  • Patent number: 7094186
Abstract: An exercise barbell comprises a pair of rings connected by a pair of curved bars. The rings rotatably support handle members. Extensions of the bar on the exterior of the two rings support crescent-shaped weights which conform to the outer diameter of the ring and to one another. The weights are relatively flat so the entire apparatus lies in a single plane. A straight bar connecting the opposed sides of the two rings supports a sliding weight which may be moved to one side of the bar or the other to allow asymmetrical exercises.

  • Patent number: 7086464
Abstract: A well testing system and well testing method is described which can be operated as a closed system with no production of hydrocarbons outside the well or gas can be separated and flared at surface giving minimal environmental impact with the liquid hydrocarbon being re-injected. This is achieved by providing a string with at least two well conduits which may be arranged in a concentric or non-concentric parallel configuration. One conduit is used to produce formation fluids to surface or to produce/store unrepresentative initial flow products and the other conduit is used to store formation fluid. The storage conduit can be filled from the top (surface) or the bottom of the well. In a preferred arrangement a valve is provided between the storage conduit and the well annulus for well pressure control, and a shut-in or test valve, which is controllable from surface, is disposed in the non-storage production conduit.

  • Patent number: 7083755
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an integral one-piece solar collector panel 10 by a rotational moulding process is disclosed. The solar collector panel 10 has a plurality of fluid ways 15 extending between opposed ends 18, 19 and transverse headers 18, 19 opening into the open ends of the fluid ways 15. The panel 10 is moulded by a rotational moulding process using mould faces with a non planar topography, eg in the form of a plurality of lines projecting outwardly proud of the remainder of the mould plate. This enables areas of the moulded body 12 to be formed that are not hollow and form a solid wall in the moulded panel and other areas of the body to be formed that are hollow and form the fluid ways 15 and headers 18, 19. After the moulding of the panel 10 has taken place the two opposed mould faces are moved towards each other to cause the contacting layers of mould material to firmly adhere to each other.

  • Patent number: 7080549
Abstract: A throttle position sensor for a throttle having a movable throttle element. The sensor includes an elongated electrically resistive strip having a first and second end. The first end of the strip is connected to a first voltage potential while the second end is electrically connected to a second voltage potential different from the first. An electrically conductive wiper is in sliding contact with the resistive strip. The wiper and resistive strip are relative to each other and one of the wiper or resistive strip is connected to the movable throttle element. Consequently, the position of the wiper relative to the strip varies proportionally with the position of the throttle element so that a voltage output from the wiper varies proportionally with the position of the movable throttle element. A circuit is associated with the sensor which determines the contact resistance between the wiper and the strip.

  • Patent number: 7081699
Abstract: A thermoacoustic generator includes a housing with a thermoacoustic core supported in the housing. The core is operable to introduce acoustical power into the housing to thereby oscillate the pressure of the gas in the housing at a frequency. A piezoelectric alternator is also supported in the housing and has a face that is movable when acted on by the acoustical power. The alternator includes a portion of piezoelectric material operable to produce electrical power when acted upon by a stress. The piezoelectric material is in mechanical communication with the movable face so that movement of the face stresses the piezoelectric material. The alternator has a moving mass that serves as a substantial portion of the resonating mass inside the housing, thereby providing a pressure oscillation frequency in the housing substantially lower than for a similar system with a rigid member replacing the alternator.
