  • Patent number: 4955391
Abstract: A fluid monitoring apparatus has a canister into which fluid is introduced via an entry port at the top of the canister, a conventional volume measuring assembly within the canister and a flow control assembly that receives the fluid from the entry port and discharges the fluid at a controlled rate into the volume measuring assembly. The canister has a tubular body portion made of transparent plastic on which volume indicia are inscribed and is closed at its ends by a cover plate in which the entry port is formed and a floor plate in which a discharge port is formed. A pump connected to the discharge port is operable for removing fluid from the canister and is flushed with antiseptic solution via a second pump. The flow control assembly has a partition that extends across the interior of the canister and has an upwardly extending flange to form a fluid catchment and an integral funnel that discharges into the volume measuring assembly. A filter is provided across the canister or funnel.

  • Patent number: 4916445
Abstract: Visually observable safe limits for the proximity of an aircraft, such as a helicopter, to obstructions are provided by pairs of lights which provide collimated beams intersecting at limit points located radially outwardly of the arc of the helicopter rotor blades so that light scattered from the intersecting beams at the limit points provides the helicopter pilot with visual references of the rotor arc. Each light of each pair has a concave reflector and a lamp at the focal point of the reflector to provide the collimated beams and transparent plastic shields over the open ends of the reflectors have concavities in central portions to provide diverging beams that illuminate the obstructions.

  • Patent number: 4893787
Abstract: A unitary fence corner post assembly having a brace member welded to medial portions of a main post to extend laterally therefrom and a strut welded between the main post and brace member. The main post, brace member, and strut are constructed of square steel tubing and a steel first stabilization plate is welded to the main post and brace member to extend along the main post from the brace member substantially three-quarters of the distance between the brace member and the lower end of the main post. A notch is formed in the upper edge of the first stabilization plate to extend a distance along the main post and the assembly further includes a second stabilization plate extending through the notch and welded to the main post, the brace member and the first stabilization plate. An end portion of the brace member is downturned and and square anchor plates are welded to the extensive end of the brace member and to the lower end of the main post.

  • Patent number: 4832345
Abstract: An improved golf teeing apparatus adapted to automatically tee a predetermined number of golf balls in time sequences selected by the golfing participant. The apparatus comprises a housing having a ball inlet opening in a side portion thereof, a housing cover assembly having a tee access opening therein, and a ball hopper connected to the housing via a ball delivery conduit such that gravitational single file ball travel is achieved through the ball delivery conduit to the ball inlet opening of the housing. A ball support assembly is disposed within the housing for receiving one ball at a time from the ball delivery conduit, and for supporting the golf ball at a selected height above the housing cover so that the golf ball can be struck by a golf club. The ball support assembly includes a vertically disposed tubular member having a ball receiving opening communicating with the ball inlet opening of the housing, and a piston member disposed within the tubular member.

  • Patent number: 4825473
Abstract: A disposable protective eye guard positionable over a person's head to protect the person's eyes from airborne particles and spray mist, the eye guard comprising a tubular hood member fabricated of an open mesh knitted fabric having sufficient stretching properties to fit snuggly thereon without distorting the person's facial features. The open mesh knitted fabric has an uneven surface which, when in the stretched condition, cooperates with the person's facial features to provide air pockets between the eye guard and the person's eyes to substantially prevent airborne particles and spray mist from reaching the eyes.

  • Patent number: 4812671
Abstract: A circuit for disengaging an electrically actuated transmission brake of a racing car has a bank of transistors in series with the brake to hold the brake on at the beginning of a race. The bases of the transistors are connected through normally open contacts of a relay to the emitter of a transistor that can be turned on or off by an optoisolator and the brake is connected through diodes to the relay coil to isolate the transistor bases once the brake has been disengaged. The optoisolator is connected, through diodes, to the zero count terminals of two clocked, programmable counters either of which will turn the optoisolator off at the end of a count. Reset terminals of both counters are connected to the outputs of a flip-flop to disable one counter and toggling of the flip-flop is effected by closing normally open contacts of a second relay to complete a circuit between the flip-flop input and a voltage regulator output through a Schmitt trigger.

  • Patent number: 4811758
Abstract: An improved pressurized fluid check valve is provided which, when incorporated into a drill string powered by a rotary table of a drilling rig, prevents drainage of fluid from the stand pipe and rotary hose when the flow of fluid through the drill string is interrupted, such as during the attachment of another section of drill pipe to the drill string. The improved pressurized fluid check valve comprises (a) a tubular body member having a bore extensive therethrough between first and second end portions thereof, the bore having an enlarged medial portion forming a valve chamber; (b) a flow restricting assembly supported within the valve chamber of the tubular body member for selectively closing the valve chamber to fluid flow in a pressurized mode; and (c) a loading valve supported in an access bore formed through the side wall of the body member so as to communicate with the valve chamber.

  • Patent number: 4801167
Abstract: A fishing assembly for use in retrieving a separated or broken sucker rod from a well comprising a body member having a cavity in which a slide member is disposed therein for reciprocation within the body member. An entrance port is formed in the lower end of the body member so as to openly communicate with the cavity, and an elongated, longitudinally slot is formed in one side portion of the body member. A substantially arcuate-shaped internally disposed shoulder is supported by the body member substantially adjacent the entrance port so as to be opposite and in a facing relationship with the longitudinally extending slot of the body member. The slide member is connected to the body member via the slot so as to be reciprocably movable along the cavity axis of the body member from a lower position to an upper position. The slide member is biased in the lower position so that the slide member (when in the lower position) and the shoulder cooperate to capture a joint end of a separated rod.

  • Patent number: 4779931
Abstract: A safety support and stop assembly for securing a dump body pivotally mounted on a truck chassis frame in an elevated position above the chassis frame so as to permit a mechanic to work safely on components of the truck while the dump bed is in the elevated position. The safety support and stop assembly comprises an upright support member, a cradle support assembly and a base assembly. The upright support member is characterized as having an upper bed engaging support end and a lower pivot end. The lower pivot end is pivotally connected to the cradle support assembly such that the upright support member is disposed in a selectable angular disposition relative to the truck chassis frame. The base assembly, which is removably supported on the truck chassis frame, supports the cradle assembly at a preselected position along the truck chassis frame.
