Abstract: The invention relates to paramagnetic gas analyzer with a housing, comprising: an electromagnet with an air gap; power source for said electromagnet; a sample gas conduit and a reference gas conduit into said air gap; an exit conduit communicating with said air gap for removing the intermixed gases; pressure detecting microphones connected to said sample gas conduit and to said reference gas conduit for sensing the gas pressures; as well as electronics. The pressure detecting microphones comprise two independent microphonic membranes that are parallel to each other, their pressure surfaces being to the same direction, or to the opposite directions. The electrical outputs of the microphones provide signals that are proportional to gas pressures in the sample gas and reference gas conduits, and that are further processed in the electronics to eliminate effects of mechanical shocks or the like.
Abstract: A method for recognizing a valid change of state in a communication signal including capacitively coupled signals received by an input contact includes maintaining the input contact in a first state and an impedance of the first contact input in a first impedance level, validating that the communication signal sent from to the input contact is a valid change of state, and changing the input contact to a second state and the impedance of the first input contact input to a second impedance level when the voltage signal is validated. An input contact circuit is also disclosed.

Abstract: In a method for the obtaining a tomosynthesis image for a more selective detection of radiology signs, a dose distribution strategy is proposed. The strategy is defined as a function of a substantially uniform depth-of-focus for a variety of sizes and classes of radiology signs. This strategy is coupled with a digital filtering aimed at ensuring optimum propagation of the signal-to-noise ratio beyond the frequency spectrum. This digital filtering is done by means of a class of adaptive filters required to control the propagation of the noise during the reconstruction. The filter to be applied to each projection of the X-ray tube (4) depends on the dose assigned to this projection.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods for identifying a defect and/or an operating characteristic of a system being monitored (and/or one or more of the system's components) are described. In an embodiment, orthogonally related data monitored by two or more detectors may be fused to determine whether a component of a system is defective and/or malfunctioning. Additionally or alternatively, data from a first detector may be determined to be accurate using non-orthogonally related data outputted by a second detector. Both types of determinations may be made with minimal or no false indications, which lowers the cost of operating the system being monitored. Embodiments of the invention may also be configured to forecast and/or prevent accidents and/or damage to the system being monitored by predicting whether a defect and/or a malfunction will occur.

Abstract: A system for protection, control, metering, and monitoring of the delivery of electrical power is disclosed. Embodiments of the system provide input/output devices called bricks to receive analog and binary field data from primary equipment located in a power substation switchyard. The bricks are linked via fiber-optic patch cables and patch panels with one or more intelligent electronic devices (“IEDs”). In operation, the bricks convert the received binary and/or analog field data into digital signals, and transmit the digital signals synchronously to their associated IEDs using clock signals provided by each IED to the individual bricks. The bricks may accept a computer software code download from each of its master IED(s). Multiple code implementations, each tailored to the requirements of its master IED(s) can therefore co-exist on a single brick.

Abstract: A ride vehicle includes a tactile or physical contact system. The ride vehicle moves along a path or track. The path or track can be outdoors or partially or entirely indoors, i.e., in a dark ride. The system provides a touch effect by causing a physical or solid touch element to make physical contact with a part of a rider's body. Alternatively, the system can operate by projecting or spraying a gas, such as air, a vapor, such as water vapor or steam, or even a liquid, such as water, toward or onto part of a rider's body or the rider's clothing. The system is advantageously substantially self-contained aboard the vehicle, but may receive power or working fluid from off-board sources, either at discrete locations, or continuously along the ride path.
