  • Patent number: 8256390
Abstract: Described is a six-cycle internal combustion engine. Four of the cycles are the standard “Otto” cycles, namely intake, compression, power and exhaust plus two additional cycles, a primary intake cycle and a transfer cycle. The two additional cycles act as a supercharger to provide compressed air to the intake port of the “Otto” cycle. The engine utilizes four independently operated valves, including a transfer valve and a secondary intake valve. The transfer valve and secondary intake valve are in fluid communication via a conduit. A discharge conduit can be provided from a pressurized transfer system to release any excessive pressure within the conduit. Alternately, external pressure can be forced into the transfer conduit and a secondary intake conduit to increase the pressure within a combustion chamber.
