Abstract: Disclosed is an ice making apparatus and method whereby the cleanliness of ice is improved through the use of ozone (O3). The invention utilizes a volute aspirator that is positioned within the intake of a conventional sump pump. The vacuum generated by the pump draws upon both a supply of ozone and water, whereby the ozone is entrained within the water. The presence of the ozone within the water inhibits the growth of bacteria and other contaminates. The ozonated water is then used in the production of ice.
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical imaging device, in particular an objective 1 for microlithography in the field of EUVL for producing semiconductor components, having a beam path 2, a plurality of optical elements 3 and a diaphragm device 7 with an adjustable diaphragm opening shape. The diaphragm device has a diaphragm store 7a, 7b with a plurality of different diaphragm openings 6 with fixed shapes in each case, which can be introduced into the beam path 2.

Abstract: A multiple battery system includes a battery housing, first and second batteries disposed in the battery housing, a one-way charging circuit, and at least one switching device. The battery housing includes at least one positive terminal and at least one negative terminal, which are electrically coupleable to an electrical system. Each battery includes respective positive and negative outputs. The negative output of each battery is electrically connected to the negative terminal(s) of the battery housing. The one-way charging circuit is electrically connected between the positive outputs of the two batteries and is configured to facilitate charging of, but prevent current flow from, the second battery when the first battery is supplying electrical energy to the electrical system. The switching device(s) is operable in at least two states to selectively electrically connect the positive terminal(s) of the battery housing to a selective one of the positive outputs of the two batteries.
Abstract: A pneumatically assisted inflator for gas cylinders comprises an inline configuration such that gas contained within the gas cylinder flows axially through the inflator to be exhausted therefrom and inflate an inflatable article. The inline configuration of the inflator reduces the stress otherwise imparted to the component parts thereof and thereby allows most of the component parts to be manufactured from an injection molded high-strength plastic or the like. The inflator comprises an inflator piston positioned within a piston cylinder that moves against a rotatable cam surface, such as a rotatable collar connected to a pull lanyard, to force a pierce pin to make at least a small pin hole in a frangible seal and allow high pressure gas from the gas cylinder to flow into the piston cylinder, whereupon the high pressure gas in the piston cylinder further moves the inflator piston to more fully force the pierce pin into the frangible seal to fully open the frangible seal.
Abstract: An auxiliary battery attachment apparatus, which is attachable to a first housing containing a first battery, includes a second housing, a second battery disposed within the second housing, positive and negative couplings, a one-way charging circuit, and at least one switching device. The coupling(s) are respectively coupleable to positive and negative terminal(s) of the first housing. The second housing includes positive and negative terminals, which are electrically coupleable to an electrical system. The charging circuit is electrically connected between the positive coupling(s) and a positive output of the second battery, and facilitates charging of, but prevents current flow from, the second battery when the first battery is supplying electrical energy to the electrical system. The switching device(s) is operable in at least two states to electrically connect the positive terminal(s) of the second housing to a selective one of the positive coupling(s) and the positive output of the second battery.
Abstract: An adjustable outrigger moves a trolling pole on a fishing vessel to an elevated, outboard position for trolling and inboard to a lowered position when not in use. The outrigger of a preferred embodiment is operated using an operating handle. Rotating the operating handle in one direction rotates a pole held by the outrigger from an inboard position to the outboard, deployed position. Simultaneously with the rotation in the horizontal plane, the pole is elevated in the vertical plane from a near horizontal position to a suitable trolling angle. The operating handle turns a shaft that communicates the rotation of the handle to an internal drive mechanism, which is housed in a drive mechanism housing. The rotational motion is converted to a linear, vertical action using a ball gear mechanism. A track provided by a bayonet coupler converts the linear vertical motion into a combined vertical and rotational motion.

Abstract: In a process for producing an SCR catalyst for the selective reduction of NOx in NOx-containing exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, a support layer is applied to a substrate body. An iron salt dissolved in a liquid is applied to the support layer in such an amount that no excess of iron salt is present.

Abstract: A device (e.g., a vending machine) and method for preparing a consumable beverage include mixing an agglomerated natural milk powder having a scorched particle mass not greater than fifteen milligrams with hot water to produce the consumable beverage. The hot water and milk powder may be mixed prior to or during their placement of the beverage in a beverage cup, such as part of operation of a vending machine. Alternatively, the hot water and milk powder may be mixed with one or more additional ingredients, such as coffee, tea, cocoa powder, and/or sugar, to produce the beverage. Further, the hot water and milk powder may be whipped together or with an additional ingredient to produce a foaming beverage, such as cappuccino.
Abstract: An immersion lithography objective has a housing in which at least one first optical element is arranged, a second optical element, which follows the first optical element in the direction of the optical axis of the objective, an immersion medium that adjoins the second optical element being located downstream of the latter in the direction of the optical axis, and a retaining structure for the second optical element. The retaining structure has a greater stiffness in the direction of the optical axis than in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis.

Abstract: A demountable and reusable canopy is provided comprising a number of vertical supports, located along an area to be covered, each including a footer which mounts an insert tube below the finish grade of the ground and a post having a hollow interior shaped to receive an exposed portion of the insert tube. A beam is secured to the vertical supports by self-tapping screws which extend into screw cases formed in the posts, and adjacent beams mount decking sections to form the completed canopy.

Abstract: A barrier device comprises a top wall, a bottom wall, opposed end walls and opposed side walls interconnected to form a hollow interior in which a pair of spaced openings are formed which extend between the side walls. An external reinforcement structure is provided to enhance the structural integrity of the barrier device, including first and second beams each located along one of the side walls which are connected to one another by a mounting device extending through the openings in the hollow interior, or, alternatively, are mounted within a seat formed in each side wall between the opposed ends of the barrier device. The beams of one barrier device are connected end-to-end with the beams of adjacent barrier devices to form an essentially continuous wall of barriers which resist disengagement from one another and exhibit improved resistance to being broken apart upon impact by a vehicle.
