  • Patent number: 4967996
Abstract: The pilot type controlled electromagnetic valve system in accordance with the present invention is opened and closed principally by means of automatic remote control. The controlled valve system comprises a main valve F; a pilot valve G for opening and closing the main valve F by means of the fluid pressure on the primary side; a latching solenoid H for opening and closing the pilot valve G; and a solenoid drive control unit I for driving the solenoid H by supplying a discharge current from a capacitor to the solenoid. A pulse discharge current is supplied to the solenoid H from the capacitor C only when the pilot valve G is opened or closed, and no excitation current is supplied continuously through the coil of the solenoid. As a result, the power source battery can be reduced in size, and therefore virtually no accidents take place in the controlled valve system due to no heat generation in the coil.

  • Patent number: 4968930
Abstract: A device for displaying the value of a quantity represented by input data comprises a mobile indicator member (24) driven by a stepping motor (20), a control circuit (18) for this motor for delivering drive pulses to the motor in response to the input data to move the indicator member to a position corresponding to the value of the quantity, and a dial (26) for showing an indexing system, for example a scale, which cooperates with the indicator member to indicate the value at least approximately. The dial comprises a liquid crystal, electrochromic or electroluminescent electrooptical display device (26) which displays the indexing system in response to signals from another control circuit (28) when the latter receives an activation signal. The device enables values of a single quantity situated in different ranges or values of distinct quantities to be indicated, by making the cell selectively display corresponding indexing systems. A specific application of the device is for automobile dashboards.

  • Patent number: 4967318
Abstract: A mount for a headlight reflector includes three pivot-point mechanisms, at least one of which comprises a spherical head at an end of a pivot-mechanism pin mounted in an elongated socket formed on a receiver rigidly attached to the reflector. The axis of elongation of the pivot-mechanism pin is approximately parallel to an optical axis of the headlight and an axis of elongation of the socket is perpendicular thereto, with one end of the socket being open to allow ingress and egress of the spherical head. A side of an elongated shell forming the socket has a slit therein facing a back wall of a headlight housing through which the pivot-mechanism pin passes. In one embodiment of the invention, an outer end of the pivot-mechanism pin is coupled to an adjusting bolt which is parallel to the pivot-mechanism pin by means of a moveable bridge.

  • Patent number: 4966650
Abstract: The chemical components of lignocellulosic material which have been dissociated by a steam explosion process can be extracted from the mixture of components using a solvent extraction process. The solvents are water, alcohol and a mild caustic in that order, or the alcohol step can be by-passed and only water and caustic are used. The caustic is a stronger solvent and it will extract the alcohol solubles along with the caustic only solubles. The eluant from the these extractions contains a range of lignin derived substances, which have different applications, such as thermoplastic and thermosetting characteristics. This invention describes a method for partitioning these lignin components into reproducible fractions having definable characteristics for particular applications. For instance, many copolymer applications require a thermosetting only fraction of the lignin. Other applications require a thermoplastic only lignin.

  • Patent number: 4963129
Abstract: Prior-art systems for drainage of body cavities, in particular renal cavity systems, have usually comprised of a flexible drainage tube (1) with at least one crooked end (11, 13), a tubular device, called a pusher (2), serving to push the drainage tube (1) into a body cavity, a distal end of which is connected in a separable way with a proximal end of the drainage tube (1), and a guide wire (3) passing through the drainage tube (1) and the pusher (2). Up to now, the separable connection consisted of either a predetermined break point or a wedge connection. Both solutions have been unsatisfactory.According to this invention, ends of a drainage tube (1) and a pusher (2), which are connected with each other, have parts (41, 42) of a lock (4) complementary to each other, which define sections (45, 46) overlapping each other and featuring facing sections fitted to each other which transmit axial traction forces and a torque. Sections (45, 46) are held in mesh by the guide wire (3) passing through them.

Abstract: The quenching circuit comprises a signal comparator (CP) having a first input connected to the photodiode (SPAD) under control and a second input connected to a balancing impedance (C) equal to that of the photodiode. At the output of the comparator (CP) there is connected a signal generator (M), which generates a quenching signal (S) having a predetermined duration each time there is an imbalance between the two inputs of the comparator (CP). Circuital switching means (I1, I2, I3, I4) are provided, capable of holding the bias voltage of the photodiode normally high and of lowering it below the breakdown level following the generation and for the entire holding time of the quenching signal.
