  • Patent number: 7231526
Abstract: A system and method for preventing interception and decryption of information by an unauthorized party when that information is transmitted over a network is provided. A token is used to encrypt one-time password that is different for each network session, to prevent decryption thereof. The encrypted one-time password is returned to a network server for authentication by the server. The network server generates its response in a similar fashion. The server compares its response to the one-time password, to determine if they match. If they match, then the client is granted access to the network. If they responses do not match, then the client is denied access to the network by the server.

  • Patent number: 7136260
Abstract: Improved head gimbal assemblies reducing TMR (Track Mis-Registration) in a hard disk drive are provided. These head gimbal assemblies are as mechanically simple as contemporary head gimbal assemblies, support parallel flying sliders over flat disk surfaces, and reduce TMR induced by disk vibration. They are easier to build, more reliable, and cost less to make, than other known approaches at comparable track densities and rotational rates. The improved head gimbal assemblies include three sets of mechanisms for moving the slider parallel the disk surface, when the disk surface is flat, and radially moving the slider toward the track, when the disk surface is bent. The first and third mechanisms as well as the second and third mechanisms can be used together in a head gimbal assembly. An improved and distinctive servo-controller scheme resulting in an overall improvement in PES performance, particularly when applied to hard disk drives employing the invention's TMR reduction mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 7133251
Abstract: A disk mounting hub has a disk-mounting face formed at one end as a truncated conical surface of revolution symmetric about a central axis. A cylindrical inner hub member is coaxial with the hub body outside diameter and the surrounding mounting face. The inner hub member is adapted to receive a planar disk with a central opening. The mounting face is disposed at a hub face angle (?/2+/??) relative to the central axis. Hub face angle ? is selected so that a disk clamping force F applied to an inner disk portion surrounding the opening bends a portion of the disk interior to the hub inside diameter to conform with the conical disk-mounting face. This interior bending portion reduces or eliminates the tendency of the outer disk portion to form an excessive conning angle ?.

  • Patent number: 7121012
Abstract: A magnetically damped inclinometer has a shaft with attached pendulum that rotates. The rotation causes an index member to rotate past one or a set of magnets or electromagnets that are connected to the load. The magnet or electromagnet may be mounted directly the load or it may be in the form of an off center ring. Another embodiment uses a spring to bias two magnets apart. A cam is attached to the shaft such that, as the pendulum and shaft rotate, a roller connected with the load or spreader bar allows the spring to push the magnets farther apart. The damped inclinometers are used to determine and provide information to respond to the initial sway of a load prior to bringing the load to a stop.
