  • Patent number: 5265875
Abstract: A reduced area, night playable golf course is achieved by utilizing a common driving area for all par 4 and par 5 holes on the course. Separate laterally spaced tees are provided at one end of the driving area for each hole. The ball landing region of the driving area is covered by a grid of ball catching nets having relatively small areas. A ball caught by a particular net is directed to a ball return conduit which includes a ball actuated switch which inputs a signal to a computer which records the distance and lateral position of the ball as two coordinates which are printed on the player's score card. The playing course is conventionally constructed, except that the initial 100 to 150 yards of each par 4 and par 5 hole is omitted. A grid pattern of markers bearing coordinates corresponding to those of the ball catching nets is installed in the initial portions of the par 4 and par 5 holes and the ball is dropped for the second shot adjacent the marker showing the coordinates of the drive.

  • Patent number: 5267344
Abstract: A solid state DC power control circuit to efficiently use DC battery power without the normally associated energy waste which includes an input control signal, amplifying and conditioning circuit (133), a triangular waveform generator circuit (131), a comparator circuit (135), an inverting MOSFET (metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor) circuit (137), and a plurality of power MOSFET devices (42), which together combine to translate a typical variable resistance control input into a voltage level and condition it suitably to be compared with a known triangular waveform thereby creating a pulse width modulated signal whose pulse widths correspond in duration to the relative percent "on" or "off" of the control input signal and which regulates a plurality of parallel MOSFET devices (42) which together share the load of an external DC power drain circuit (143).

  • Patent number: 5265289
Abstract: A convertible baby cot/tote bag is provided having a rectangularly shaped main frame across which the baby supporting sheet is secured. The long sides of the main frame are medially pivoted about a horizontal axis to permit the main frame to be shifted from a horizontal cot position to a tote bag position wherein the main frame is divided into two vertically adjacent subframes. Sheet material is secured to the under surface of the baby supporting sheet so as to define pockets for the storage of baby accessories when the apparatus is to be used as a tote bag.

  • Patent number: 5263220
Abstract: A pig passage indicator is provided by the present disclosure and includes an elongate cylindrical hollow body having a sleeve which threads only inside the body. The sleeve captures a moveable pin or rod and a compressed resilient coil spring. The coil spring and pin connect with a plunger which has a contoured or hemispherical tip. The tip is positioned so that it protrudes into the pipeline. When a pig passes, it nudges the tip of the plunger, moves the plunger against the coil spring, and operates the rod to thereby form an alarm signal. The interior of the body is isolated by first and second spaced seal rings to define a fluid isolated chamber. Pipeline fluid does not get into this chamber.

  • Patent number: 5263592
Abstract: A gun storage apparatus is set forth. In the preferred apparatus aircraft cable is connected with a long screw for anchoring into a wall. That connection is accomplished by an upper eyelet, and there is a second eyelet just below the upper eyelet to support a ring sized to fit around the end of a barrel of a weapon. There is a bottom or terminal portion preferably wrapped in plastic to avoid scuffing on the wooden finish of the weapon. The lower portion is defined by eyelets at the two ends thereof which are spaced by such a distance that the lower portion can be wrapped in an encircling fashion around the stock or receiver of the weapon, preferably passing through the trigger guard and behind the bolt of the weapon, for fastening with the hasp of a lock.

  • Patent number: 5255558
Abstract: A method and device (10) for testing condoms, the device (10) comprises a perforated, elongated plastic, cylindrical member (12) having a head (14) at one end thereof, a body (16) and a base (18) at the other end thereof. Fitable into the hollow interior of cylindrical member (12) is a plunger assembly (30) with a piston (78) thereon. Perforations (20) in the body (16) of the cylindrical member (12) provide communication with a sleeve (28) in which the piston (78) rides. A condom is unrolled over cylindrical member (12) and sealed air-tight to the base (18) thereof. Pumping the piston (78) inflates the condom where it can be inspected for perforations, tears, and porosity. A flap valve (35) in the piston (78) allows air in the condom to escape through the perforations (20) and through a whistle means (42) to provide an audio signal whose pitch is a function of velocity of air through the signal and thus indicative of the porosity of the condom membrane.

  • Patent number: 5241549
Abstract: A train of signals is generated by clocking an 8-bit word from an 8-bit shift register which has been loaded with an initial data word. The register is provided with feedback loop. The serial data is supplied along a communication link to a similar or identical 8-bit shift register at the receiving end of the link. A comparator compares the output data of the register with the first stage of the register and provides an accept signal provided such comparison indicates inversions at the receipt of each bit for 9-bits onwards. After transmission of 24-bits, the shift register contains the 8-bit data word, which has been checked twice for any inaccuracy.

  • Patent number: 5236605
Abstract: An oil separation method and apparatus for the continuous separation of acceptable oil from contaminated oil containing solids and liquids withdrawn from an oil well. Three separate settling tanks are partitioned and provided with skimmers, as appropriate, to enable contaminated oil to dwell sufficiently within the tanks. After sufficient dwell time, the skimmers remove separated oil from the top layer and move it to an oil tank. Liquids such as water and emulsified oil are separated into an intermediate layer and moved to further settling tanks to provide sufficient dwell time for oil separation and collection. The first settling tank has a rotating jet spray header for agitating the solids accumulated in the bottom of the first tank and a series of suction headers for withdrawing the solids without interruption of the top oil layer or the separation operation.

  • Patent number: 5235719
Abstract: An assembly for converting the one-directional power transmission of a conventional power ratchet wrench into alternating transmission of the power to the wrench's driver head in both the clockwise and counter-clockwise direction without moving the rotational direction selected by the wrench's rotation direction selector subassembly from a first selected position. A scraper attachment attaches to the driver head of the wrench and an engagement arm connects the body of the attachment directly and tightly to the ratcheting section of the wrench. A scraper blade is pivotally connected to the body of the attachment and extends in a generally perpendicular direction from the axis of rotation of the body member. Operation of the wrench results in oscillating arcuate rotation of the scraper blade as it is pressed upon the surface to be scraped.
