  • Patent number: 4079864
Abstract: A manifold for use in conjunction with fluid actuable liquid dispensing apparatus is disclosed for supporting and interconnecting such apparatus, especially where numerous individual liquid dispensers are employed, for example for lubricating various points in a system. The manifold allows individual dispensers, or sets of dispensers, to be disabled, for example for repair purposes, while others may continue to operate. Several such manifolds would typically be employed in a lubricating system with each comprising a block having a plurality of separated passageways therein, including at least one actuating fluid passageway with an inlet for connection to an actuating fluid source, and an outlet for connection to the liquid dispensing device, and at least a second passageway for the liquid to be dispensed, again having an inlet for connection to a liquid source, and an outlet for connection to the liquid dispensing device.

  • Patent number: 4080517
Abstract: Apparatus for enabling a blind person to determine the status of a plurality of telephone lines from the illumination condition of signal lamps associated therewith which respectively indicate the "ON", "OFF", "RING" or "HOLD" status of each line. Photosensors sense the illumination condition of each lamp and provide first signals in response thereto. The apparatus sequentially and repetitively scans the photosensors and the resultant sequentially appearing first signals are serially and repetitively converted to digitally coded signals which are serially read-into storage means. Means are provided for sequentially and repetitively generating a plurality of audio tone signals respectively having progressively different frequencies, each tone signal corresponding to a particular line. The coded signals are serially read-out of storage at the rate of the tone signal generation and are serially decoded.

  • Patent number: 4079512
Abstract: A supporting mandrel receives a plurality of electrical motor core laminations in columnar relation. An overhead ram carrying a ram head is in movable relation towards and away from the supporting mandrel along the columnar axis. A cylinder is formed in the ram head opening towards the supporting mandrel. A piston is reciprocably mounted in the cylinder and is coupled in force transmitting relation to the upper end of said column. Selectively releasable fluid pressure is operable to move the piston toward the supporting mandrel for compressing the laminations in the column. Coplanar pick-off fingers are mounted in an axially aligned member and are movable in a radial direction relative the axis and exert a holding force to at least one lamination. The plane of the fingers is spaced a predetermined axial distance from the upper column end defining a predetermined stack height of laminations. The holding force is maintained until the fluid pressure to the piston is released.

  • Patent number: 4071137
Abstract: Walking beam-type conveyor apparatus having a plurality of elongated, spaced stationary members carried by a supporting frame, and a plurality of elongated, spaced longitudinally movable members parallel with and intermediate the stationary members and carried by a longitudinally movable frame. Inflatable fluid bearings support the movable frame on the stationary frame for longitudinal movement of the movable frame and movable members between first and second positions. A selectively actuable valve has a first position in which fluid under a first predetermined pressure is applied to the fluid bearings during movement of the movable frame and movable members in one direction from the first to the second positions thereof, the first pressure being such that the movable members apply sufficient force to the load thereon that the load and movable members are moved in unison in the one direction.

  • Patent number: 4067946
Abstract: A method and apparatus for embedding a washer or other perforated plate or body in the body of a cake of soap without leaving a penetration cut in the soap billet which might crack open on, for example, future soap bar moisture changes. The relatively insoluable washer or soap plate has a central hole which is aligned with a hole at least partially through the soap cake in the finished state. The soap cake is fabricated from a soap extrusion having an oversized hole centrally located and longitudinally extending along the extrusion, or the oversized hole can be otherwise provided in a soap extrusion. The extrusion is cut off into soap billets and conveyed to a machine location where a shaft inserts the washer into the central portion of the soap billet through the oversized extruded hole in the billet.

  • Patent number: 4058702
Abstract: A fluid tank, with an inlet and an outlet, is provided with first heating means for heating the fluid in the tank to a first temperature and a second heating means for heating the fluid to a second temperature which is lower than the first temperature. A thermostatic switch is disposed to be responsive to the temperature of the fluid in the tank outlet to enable the first heating means only when the temperature in the outlet is above a predetermined level. The fluid in the tank is maintained at a low temperature during periods of non-use, and at an increased temperature only during periods of use, thus economizing on heating energy.

  • Patent number: 4054869
Abstract: A circuit for switching between two signals of different frequency, such as "wail" and "yelp" of an electronic siren, by switching between different capacitive values in a multivibrator circuit. A monostable switch couples a reference level voltage to an integrated flip-flop circuit. The integrated circuit receives a reference level pulse when the monostable switch is closed and supplies a switching voltage to a transistor circuit. The transistor circuit places capacitances in parallel to change the time constant of the multivibrator circuit and also to change the characteristics of wave-shaping circuitry coupled to the multivibrator circuit. A reference level circuit accepts either of two voltage levels and provides a reference level voltage.

  • Patent number: 4049200
Abstract: A nebulizer having an elongate housing supporting an air nozzle in aspirating relation to a liquid nozzle in an interior chamber of the housing to vaporize the liquid. Baffle discs each having a chordal section removed therefrom are placed in parallel spaced relation in the chamber substantially transverse to the direction of vapor flow in the chamber. The openings formed by the chordal sections of adjacent discs are non-aligned causing the vapor flow to follow a tortuous path, and impinge upon a baffle surface, collapsing larger liquid droplets in the vapor which collect in the chamber. A liquid flow control valve in one position connects the liquid nozzle to the accumulated liquid in the chamber, or to an external reservoir, and in a second position, to an exterior source of liquid.
