  • Patent number: 5467236
Abstract: A spherical projection portion for pivotally supporting a magnetic head is protrusively formed in a tongue piece formed in a flexure, and a non-contact portion with the slider are formed on both sides of the projection portion. The backward portion with the projection portion and the non-contact portion as a boundary is formed into a bonding portion. A bonding agent between the bonding portion and the slider is prevented from flowing toward a magnetic conversion element by the projection portion and the non-contact portion. Since the bonding agent is not present in the vicinity of the magnetic conversion element, the magnetic conversion element is not deformed due to the expansion and contraction of the hardened bonding agent. Also, since the bonding area is formed into an appropriate dimension, the protuberance dimension of a crown of the slider is not varied.

  • Patent number: 5458702
Abstract: Alloy powder which is low in price and is unlikely to be oxidized on the surface, and a dispersion-type conductor using the alloy powder in which electromigration is not likely to occur. Melt of copper and silver is cooled at a high cooling speed of 10.sup.5 .degree. C./s or higher. Alloy powder having a composition expressed by a chemical formula Cu.sub.x Ag.sub.1-x (where 0.80.ltoreq.X.ltoreq.0.99) is obtained. Also, a dispersion-type conductor is produced by dispersing 100 parts by weight of the alloy powder in between 5-100 parts by weight of a binder. Thus, the low-priced alloy powder and the dispersion-type conductor of high quality and high reliability can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5442322
Abstract: A control circuit for a multi-stage power amplifier (such as in a portable radio transmitter) compensates for fluctuations in ambient temperature, load, signal level and power supply voltage, The control voltage is set by comparing a biasing level which is related to the amplifier input signal level to a voltage proportional to the power supply current of the last stage of the amplifier. The control voltage resulting from the comparison establishes the operating point of the last stage of the power amplifier.

  • Patent number: 5438421
Abstract: An orientation film for a liquid crystal display. The film is formed on a substrate and has a first irregular form repeated in a first direction and a second irregular form repeated in a second direction, which is perpendicular to the first direction. The second irregular form has a longer pitch than the pitch of the first irregular form. The profile of the second irregular form in any plane perpendicular to the first direction has a portion inclined with respect to the substrate. The pretilt angle of the orientation film is high. The patterns may be irregular and asymmetric, which may be ridges separated by a continuous groove. The orientation may be formed by using a first mold having one of the patterns, and a second mold with a second pattern, or first and second holographic exposed layers. The orientation layer may be a liquid crystal polymer which is formed by using a heated stamper to form a pattern in a high polymer liquid crystal while applying a voltage.

  • Patent number: 5434926
Abstract: An automatic volume control to prevent the listener from having an odd sensation is obtained with a plurality of conditions taken into considerations. A plurality of control rules required to infer using fuzzy logic a volume correcting value on the basis of frequency band component levels, L, M and H and a volume level V are stored beforehand in a volume correcting value inferring portion 13. The volume correcting value inferring portion 13 obtains inference results of the individual control rules on the basis of the individual frequency band component levels L, M, H input from a filter circuit 12 and the volume level input from an audio reproducing portion 14, obtains a weighted mean of the respective inference results as a volume correcting value Z, and inputs the volume correcting value to the audio reproducing portion 14 to automatically correct the volume.
