  • Patent number: 5334969
Abstract: A car security system has a proximity sensor such as a radar sensor with variable sensitivity and capable of producing a detection signal upon detecting motion of a person in a monitoring area. A control circuit is provided controls the sensitivity of said proximity sensor. The system also has a monitoring/alarming control circuit for control of predetermined monitoring and alarming control on the basis of the output from the proximity sensor, and alarming devices such as a headlight flash circuit, buzzer and siren for performing a predetermined alarming operation under the control of the monitoring/alarming control circuit. The sensitivity control circuit operates in response to a predetermined operation such as an arming start operation to vary the sensitivity of the proximity sensor so as to automatically set the sensitivity to a first sensitivity level which is the highest level within a range which does not cause the sensor to produce the detection output.

  • Patent number: 5333224
Abstract: A photoelectric converter connecting device including an elongated receptacle for receiving an optical converter unit and an optical fiber ferrule. The optical converter unit includes a lens holder, a lens fixedly connected to the lens holder by press molding, and a base including a photoelectric element. The photoelectric converter connecting device is assembled by heating and press molding the lens into the lens holder, then positioning and welding the base to hermetically seal the photoelectric element within the lens holder in a proper orientation with respect to the lens. The base is then welded to the elongated receptacle. Because the lens is press molded, the optical characteristics are more reliable than prior art index distribution type lenses.

  • Patent number: 5295026
Abstract: The present invention provides a magnetic disk drive for recording data on and reproducing recorded data from magnetic disk having a servocontrol data zone in which servocontrol data is stored. The magnetic disk drive includes a magnetic head shifting device for shifting a magnetic head unit radially with respect to the magnetic disk, and a voice coil motor for driving the magnetic head shifting device. A control means controls the voice coil motor so as to decelerate the magnetic head shifting device to a stop when a failure to read servocontrol data occurs a predetermined number of times while the magnetic head shifting device is being driven during a target track seek operation. Thus, a collision of the magnetic head unit against the magnetic disk can be prevented.
