  • Patent number: 3958729
Abstract: A container dispenser including a reversible pouring spout and closure which in one position provides a closure for the container and which in the reverse position provides a spout for pouring liquid from the container. The dispenser includes a collar with an internal, annular gasket, the collar being mounted to a wall of the container, and a dispensing spout having an outer threaded end portion threadable from either end into the collar. The spout has an open end and a closed end with a side opening spaced from the closed end, the threaded end portion of the spout extending on either side of the side opening. When the spout is threaded from either end into the collar, the threaded portion of the spout sealing engages the gasket with the side opening of the spout open to the container interior.

  • Patent number: 3938218
Abstract: A telescoping cleaning tool adapted to remove debris and the like from a poorly accessible surface. The tool includes telescoping inner and outer tubes wherein one end of one of the tubes is adapted to receive air under pressure, as from an air nozzle, and the opposite end of the other tube is provided with a sharpened edge for scraping debris and the like from a surface. An orifice is provided adjacent the sharpened edge for directing the air under pressure against such debris. The one tube is preferably provided with a handle near its air-receiving end so that an operator may grasp the handle with the fingers and press the air-receiving end into an air nozzle held in the palm of the hand, thereby permitting the tool to be used with one hand only.

  • Patent number: 3937168
Abstract: A wave-actuated bilge pump for pumping foul bilge gases from a boat. The pump includes a generally inverted U-shaped section of hollow tubing with generally downwardly directed legs having open ends. One of the ends is positioned to receive bilge gases from within the boat, and the other end is immersed below the surface of the water outside the boat. A freely-opening check valve permits bilge gases to flow within the tubing only away from the fume-receiving end. A gas-escape port opened to the atmosphere is provided in the tubing above the lower, open tubing end immersed in the water, and a second, freely-opening check valve is provided to permit flow of bilge fumes through the port only outwardly of the tubing of the atmosphere. Wave-action causes the level of water in the exterior leg of the tubing to rise and to fall such that bilge gases are drawn into the tubing as the water level falls, and the gases are exhausted from the tubing as the water level rises.

  • Patent number: 3936660
Abstract: This invention pertains to a hot plate and more specifically to an industrial hot plate for use in highly corrosive environments where chemicals of high acidity or high alkalinity are employed. An epoxy foam is utilized both to thermally isolate the heated surface from the base structure and to protect the heating element and the associated electrical circuit from damage from the active chemical agents that may be involved upon using the instant hot plate.

  • Patent number: 3936281
Abstract: A method and apparatus for deodorizing waste gases containing foul-smelling constituents that are chemically decomposable on being washed with aqueous acid formed by dissolving an acid-forming gas, such as chlorine or sulphur, in water and wherein the waste gas is washed with the aqueous acid containing a suspension of one or more alkaline earth metal carbonates, such as magnesium carbonate or calcium carbonate. In a vessel, the carbonate suspension may be sprayed downward at the top, and the waste gases directed upwardly at the bottom. Both the suspension and the gases pass through loose layers of limestone intermediate the top and bottom of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 3930756
Abstract: A metering pulse pump for metering an additive liquid into a liquid carrier under high pressure. A high-pressure, rapidly reciprocating piston pump is provided at its outlet end with a pressure-relief valve including a spring pressure control permitting the valve to open under varying pre-set pressure differentials across the valve. A diaphragm pump having first and second chambers separated by a diaphragm is provided with one of the chambers communicating directly with the outlet of the piston pump upstream of the pressure-relief valve, liquid carrier emitted under pressure from the piston pump serving to drive the diaphragm pump in a pumping stroke, the second chamber of the diaphragm pump having inflow and outflow ports with respective check valves permitting only inflow and outflow of an additive liquid into and out of the second chamber.

  • Patent number: 3930755
Abstract: A slurry pump including a pressure tank with an inlet and a lower outlet and having a pneumatically operated, inwardly opening closure at the inlet and a hinged, outwardly opening door at the outlet swingable between opened and closed positions. An external source of air under pressure hydraulically shuts the closure and pressurizes the tank, forcing a semi-liquid slurry such as liquid manure contained within the tank through the outlet and into a duct leading to a lagoon or the like. A slurry level sensor shuts off the supply of air to the tank when the slurry reaches a given level in the tank.

  • Patent number: RE28748
Abstract: A baler having an improved hydraulically driven toggle mechanism for operating a baler pressing platen, improved bale ejector, and improved baler door latch. The toggle mechanism includes opposed pairs of first and second arms .Iadd.foldably joined together at their ends with their other respective ends joined to a pressing box and a pressing platen. The opposed sets of arms are mutually oriented so that as the platen is moved to a withdrawn position, the first and second arms of one set interfold compactly and without interference across the respective first and second arms of the opposed set .Iaddend. .[.and second arms, each first arm of which is a generally C-shaped bell crank arm. The first arms are connected.]. to provide a pressing mechanism which is compact but nonetheless has a long pressing stroke to facilitate production of a large bale in only a few pressing strokes.
