  • Patent number: 4072740
Abstract: A liquid feed and effluent system to recover dissolved process gas (e.g. H.sub.2 S) from an effluent process liquid (e.g. water), which liquid may also contain dissolved solid components (e.g. soluble salts); the system heats the feed liquid with heat recovered from the effluent liquid, saturates the so heated feed liquid with process gas, which gas may also contain inert gas components, and separately discharges from the system such inert gas components and effluent liquid from which process gas and heat have been recovered. In the combination the dissolved process gas is preferably recovered from the effluent liquid by flashing at progressively reduced pressures and final vapor stripping thereof at the most reduced pressure.

  • Patent number: 4071149
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed wherein annular articles conveyed one by one to a chute member are successively transferred to a rail member connected to the chute member until a predetermined number of articles are lined up thereon, whereupon a plurality of slender holders waiting their turn above the individual articles are lowered and then lifted in unison, whereby the holders pass through the apertures of the articles in their downward travel and in their upward travel they lift the articles in unison which are held in position as a result of projectable members installed at the front ends of the holders being projected in connection with the upward movement of the holders, the above operation being repeatedly carried out a plurality of times until each holder is loaded with a desired number of articles piled in a stack, the stacks of articles on the individual holders being then released in unison onto a table member, the latter being adapted to be inched each time it receives the stacks so that such articles

  • Patent number: 4070325
Abstract: The preparation of aqueous latices from solvent dispersions of elastomers and other high polymer compositions has presented problems including foaming and coagulation which have produced losses and increased costs. Herein combinations of steps are disclosed which reduce or eliminate various of these problems; enable the preparation of latices from high solids, high viscosity cements; enable preparation of latices of filler extended and filler reinforced elastomers; and enable the preparation of latices both dilute and of high solids content, which are useful for example for adhesive and film forming purposes. The process is particularly characterized, inter alia, by the establishment of a flow of latex through the separating zone and the impingement on said flow of the coalesced latex droplets from the solvent vapor stream in which they are delivered to the separator, and in certain embodiments by the use of particular emulsifier combinations.

  • Patent number: 4047905
Abstract: In dual temperature systems utilizing different fluid materials in liquid and gas phases separable from each other (for example H.sub.2 O and H.sub.2 S), the phases are contacted with each other at a relatively hot temperature. Herein combinations of method and means are provided by which the gas is conditioned by raising its temperature and humidity principally by heat derived from the cooling and dehumidification of said gas. Special provisions are made in the combinations for transferring said heat and for the conditioning of the gas with high efficiency; and for economically controlling the temperature of the condensate resulting from the dehumidification of the gas to adapt it for particular uses in the system. Method and means are provided for such liquid gas contacting systems for efficiently stripping or separating dissolved gas from the effluent liquid and returning one of the so separated materials to the system.
