Patent number: 8255099Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for diverting from a flight plan without adjusting an autopilot by treating a heading change as the new leg of a flight plan. The present invention allows the pilot of an aircraft to enter a heading to follow into a flight management system, which treats the heading as the current leg of a flight plan otherwise being followed by the flight management system. The present invention graphically displays the heading leg as the predicted track so that the pilot is able to see the airplane's expected path. Such a change allows the autopilot to continue following commands from the flight management system rather than being changed to a mode in which the autopilot follows heading commands directly from the pilot.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2010Date of Patent: August 28, 2012Assignee: Avidyne CorporationInventors: Michael J. Patent number: 8248407Abstract: A computer program, system and method of computer-aided design of a 3D object. The 3D object is modeled by: (i) cells, the cells being restrictions of geometries of the model; and (ii) a cell graph comprising relations between the cells, which relations capture a topology of the model. The invention system edits an initial model by interacting with a user to identify intended displacements of initial geometries of the model. The system then selects the cells which are restrictions of the geometries to be displaced. Cells adjacent to the selected cells are collected according to the cell graph. Some of the adjacent cells are excluded by means of predefined rules. A solver computes transformations to be applied to initial geometries, from the intended displacements and geometries whose collected cells are restrictions thereof. Lastly the system builds new geometries according to the transformations and initial geometries.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2008Date of Patent: August 21, 2012Assignee: Dassault SystemesInventor: Arnaud Deslandes

Patent number: 8250028Abstract: A computer method and system of caching. In a multi-threaded application, different threads execute respective transactions accessing a data store (e.g. database) from a single server. The method and system represent status of datastore transactions using respective certain (e.g. Future) parameters. Results of the said transactions are cached based on transaction status as represented by the certain parameters and on data store determination of a subject transaction. The caching employs a two stage commit and effectively forms a two level cache. One levels maps from datastore keys to entries in the cache. Each entry stores a respective last known commit value. The second level provides an optional mapping from a respective transaction as represented by the corresponding certain parameter to an updated value.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2011Date of Patent: August 21, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: James M. Patent number: 8245209Abstract: Dangling pointers and memory leak locations within software are detected. As the software allocates and deallocates memory, lists of pointers referencing the memory, and pointer status, are maintained. As the software writes new addresses within pointers and reads addresses referenced by the pointers, the pointer lists are maintained to determine whether the pointers are dangling and to detect memory leak locations. A balanced binary tree having a number of nodes can be maintained. The nodes represent heap or stack records. Each heap record corresponds to heap memory that has been allocated and has a list of pointers referencing the heap memory. Each stack record corresponds to a stack within which a stack frame is allocated each time a function is entered. The stack record has frame records corresponding to the stack frames. Each frame record has a list of pointers referencing the corresponding stack frame.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2007Date of Patent: August 14, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Satish Chandra Gupta
