  • Patent number: 8008975
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, an electronic system includes an amplifier having an on-chip charge pump to provide a gate boost voltage to boost a gate voltage of at least one on-chip field effect transistor (FET) of an output stage of an amplifier. In at least one embodiment, the gate boost voltage boosts the gate voltage higher than the supply voltage rail to increase an overdrive voltage of the on-chip FET. In at least one embodiment, the gate boost voltage boosts the DC bias of an input signal and, thus, generation of gate boost voltage by the on-chip charge pump is signal-independent, i.e. independent of the input signal. Increasing the overdrive voltage increases the efficiency of the amplifier by decreasing the difference between the maximum swing of the output voltage and the voltage supply rails of the at least one on-chip FET relative to conventional designs.

  • Patent number: 8005965
Abstract: A methodology for providing secure session management is presented. After a single-use token has been issued to a client, it presents the token, and the server may identify the client based upon the presented token. However, the token may be used only once without being refreshed prior to re-use, thereby causing the token to be essentially reissued upon each use. The token comprises a session identifier that allows the issuer of the token to perform session management with respect to the receiving entity. Tokens can be classified into two types: domain tokens and service tokens. Domain tokens represent a client identity to a secure domain, and service tokens represent a client identity to a specific service. A domain token may be used with any service within a domain that recognizes the domain token, but a service token is specific to the service from which it was obtained.

  • Patent number: 8000735
Abstract: A wireless communications device includes a host processing unit, a modem processing unit, and a memory transport interface. The wireless communications device typically runs a variety of software tasks, some of which require considerably more memory than others. By processing the memory intensive tasks with the host processing unit and assigning tasks requiring high computing power but relatively smaller memory to the modem processor unit, a smaller on-chip memory can be used for the modem processor unit tasks. In addition, by using a messaging transport interface to transfer data between tasks running on different processing units, smaller local memories can be used in place of a shared memory. For example, by allocating and storing L1 tasks at the modem processing unit and allocating/storing L2 and L3 tasks at the host processing unit, duplicate memory components may be reduced or removed, thereby lowering system costs and improving system efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7996690
Abstract: Power from a modular chassis to plural modular information handling systems contained by the chassis is dynamically allocated according to power consumed at each modular information handling system and a priority associated with each modular information handling system. A power manager of the modular chassis allocates power by setting a maximum power for each modular information handling system based upon a priority for each modular information handling system. A power monitor on a modular information handling system requests additional power allocation if power consumed is within a predetermined amount of the maximum power for that system. The power manager allocates additional power in response to the request if another modular information handling system has excess power allocated or if the requesting modular information handling system has a higher priority than another modular information handling system.

  • Patent number: 7996707
Abstract: A system and method for recovering from a single logical path failure. More specifically, although a host has not grouped its logical paths, the host knows which logical paths it has available. When a host detects a logical path failure, the host enters a path discovery mode of operation. If the host continues to detect a logical path failure while operating in the logical path discovery mode of operation, the host removes the logical path from a logical path mask, and the host does not use the removed logical path again. In the case of ungrouped logical paths, the host aborts its process because it does not have more paths available to continue its process. Additionally, in certain embodiments, a pseudo path group for ungrouped logical paths is created.

  • Patent number: 7994863
Abstract: An electronic system generates at least one floating supply voltage, wherein during operation of the circuit the floating supply voltage tracks a common mode voltage of first and second differential input signals. By tracking the common mode voltage, in at least one embodiment, the floating supply voltage adjusts as the common mode voltage changes. Thus, the floating supply voltages can be based upon the peak-to-peak values of the first and second output signals without factoring in the common mode voltage. In at least one embodiment, the electronic system provides the floating supply voltages to an amplifier. The amplifier amplifies the first and second differential input signals and generates differential output signals. A differential sampling circuit samples the differential output signals to cancel the common mode voltage from the differential output signals. In at least one embodiment, an analog-to-digital converter converts the sampled differential output signals into a digital output signal.

  • Patent number: 7991850
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus to restore the operating system of a personal internet communicator (PIC) to a “known good” operational state in the event of a catastrophic failure. In an embodiment of the invention, the hard drive of the personal internet communicator is organized in three partitions: 1) a partition for the operating system and related files; 2) a user data partition; and 3) a “restore” partition. The restore partition is hidden by modifying the type of partition that can be detected by the user or any operating system. Upon a catastrophic failure, the system can be returned to an operational state by performing a sector-by-sector restoration to copy an image of the operating system and related system files back to the operating system partition. In various embodiments of the invention, the PIC system state is continuously monitored by a “registry sniffing” routine that maintains a file containing data corresponding to the system state of the PIC.

  • Patent number: 7987239
Abstract: A method, a system, an apparatus, and a computer program product are presented for a fragment caching methodology. After a message is received at a computing device, a fragment in the message body is cached. Cache ID rules from an origin server accompany a fragment to describe a method for forming a unique cache ID for the fragment such that dynamic content can be cached away from an origin server. A cache ID may be based on a URI and/or query parameters and/or cookies that are associated with a fragment. After user authentication, a cookie containing the user's role may be used in subsequent requests for role-specific fragments and in the cache identifier for role-specific fragments, thereby allowing requests from other users for role-specific fragments to be resolved in the cache when the users have the same role because these users would also have the same cookie.

  • Patent number: 7987149
Abstract: A configuration mapping system and method increase the effectiveness of mapping of information from an established product line to a new product offering. In at least one embodiment, the configuration mapping system herein uses configuration mapping rules to map individual product features and entire configurations from established products to a new product offering. The configuration mapping system also provides a way to appropriately map, for example, demand and sales information for the purpose of demand estimation and sales prediction. Conventionally, mapping can be ineffective because the configuration mapping rules usually focus on one part of the product at a time, and, if applied in isolation, the impact on other parts is missed. The systems and method herein provide a way to integrate configuration mapping rules across feature parts, time periods, and product lines into a unified, holistic view, allowing for new insights.
