Patent number: 8317130Abstract: Landing gear mount techniques for aircraft are described. The landing gear is mounted to composite structures of the aircraft in a manner that distributes landing loads, including out-of-plane loads, adequately so that the landing gear and its mounting to the aircraft is tough and can withstand variable landing loads. The landing gear is disposed between and fastened on each side to composite bulkheads. The composite bulkheads are also bonded to the outer skins of the aircraft. The described mounting distributes the loads into the composite bulkheads and from there into the outer skins. This distribution of the loading helps the landing gear withstand variable landing loads and helps maintain the integrity of the composite materials.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2008Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventor: Aaron L. Patent number: 8316635Abstract: A method for improving the effectiveness of filters by increasing accuracy of an estimate of particulate matter loading remaining in the filter after cleaning. In one embodiment, the disclosed method includes removing soot from the DPF by cleaning, and measuring parameters for a set of predetermined criteria. The amount of soot present in the DPF is then estimated based on delta pressure. The resulting estimated soot load value accounts for the noise factors such as ash loading after extended operation. The value is then used to adjust for future measurements of soot loading in the DPF after subsequent regeneration treatments and/or used to diagnose the effectiveness of the cleaning. The method can also be applied to diagnostics of the DPF. When discrepancies between DPSLE and model-based soot load estimate are observed in healthy regenerations, failure modes such as plugged filter, extreme ash loading or substrate melting can be detected.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2008Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignee: Cummins Filtration IP, Inc.Inventors: Yuetao Zhang, Daniel D. Patent number: 8320748Abstract: An audio/video information recording/reproducing device capable of easily implementing a post-recording function on an optical disk by using even a low-cost disk drive having a comparatively low-speed seek time. When recording a video file, it is recorded on an optical disk continuously for a duration equivalent to more than three times a seek time. When recording dubbing audio, it is recorded continuously only with constant data size at the same time with the reproducing of the recorded video file, thereby enabling concurrent real-time continuous reproducing and recording. Accordingly, concurrent reproductions of a video file and an audio file are ensured when reproducing dubbing audio.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2008Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignee: Panasonic CorporationInventors: Masanori Itoh, Masafumi Shimotashiro

Patent number: 8310449Abstract: A touch interface that includes a plurality of push-buttons, each of which has a first stage portion and a second stage portion. A display screen displays a plurality of display items each of which is associated with a corresponding one of the push-buttons. Activation of the first stage portion of one of the push-buttons causes the corresponding display item on the screen to highlight thereby indicating to the user that the push-button associated with that display item is being pressed, without launching a function associated with the display item. This allows the user to determine whether or not he is pressing the correct push-button prior to activating a function without taking his eyes off of the display screen. If the user is satisfied that he is contacting the correct push-button, the user can then activate the second stage portion and thereby launch the function.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2008Date of Patent: November 13, 2012Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventor: Christian R. Patent number: 8310626Abstract: In the production method of the present invention, an emulsion including a copolymer with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of ?50 to 20° C. is obtained by the emulsion polymerization of a monomer group including a monomer A that is a (meth)acrylic acid alkyl ester (where the alkyl group is an open chain group with 1 to 20 carbon atoms or a cyclic group with 5 to 20 carbon atoms) as the main monomer and a monomer B having a carbon-carbon double bond and a nonionic hydrophilic group such as a polyoxyalkylene group, an amide group, and a hydroxyl group. Liquid crystals are dispersed in this emulsion, which is applied onto a conductive film-coated substrate. Another conductive film-coated substrate is laminated thereto, and thus a liquid crystal light control device is obtained. A monomer C having a carboxyl group and/or an amino group and a carbon-carbon double bond may be used in combination with a crosslinking agent so that a crosslinked structure is introduced into the copolymer.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2008Date of Patent: November 13, 2012Assignees: Nippon Sheet Glass Company, Limited, Daido Chemical CorporationInventors: Masaatsu Kido, Mitsuhiro Kawazu, Yuichi Yano, Daisuke Shiraishi, Hitoshi Shinike
