  • Patent number: 6241954
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and installation for the crystallisation of a liquid from a solution, a suspension or a mixture of liquids using a crystalliser 2 which, for example, is provided on its wall with a heat exchanger 4 and comprises a single chamber for both nucleation and growth. Depleted mother liquor is withdrawn from the crysiallisation vessel via a filter 10 located in the crystalliser, so that the crystal content in the vessel can be accurately adjusted for the purpose of optimum separation of the crystals, preferably using a packed-bed wash column. The crystalliser preferably contains a stirrer with the filter on the stirrer 5 shaft. The filter rotates past a scraper 12, which is arranged in a fixed position, as a result of which the filter cake can be reintroduced into the suspension without damage to the crystals.

  • Patent number: 6230700
Abstract: An off fire cooling system having an octagonal body shape and split fire system which doubles the coal heating surface area and doubles the coal heat output. The cooking system also has an air introduction system which circulates air throughout the interior of the grill to maintain an optimum cooking temperature. The octagonal maintains the cooking temperature at or above 400 degrees Fahrenheit in the center of the grilling system. The system eliminates grease fires and smoke associated with grease fire flare ups. The charcoal and food products are suspended for optimum cooking while preventing grease from falling onto the burning charcoal coals.

  • Patent number: 6214068
Abstract: A flexible abrasive member comprises a porous layer which carries deposits with embedded abrasive particles, said deposits being separated from each other. The deposits are arranged and shaped in such a way that they are mutually interlocked. Thereby, the tearing strength of the member is increased. As an example, the deposits may have cooperating convex and concave shapes. Also, the deposits may have hook-shaped or arrow-shaped protrusions which are hooked into each other.

  • Patent number: 6063055
Abstract: The invention provides a handheld, manually operable fluid applicator, particularly suited to the needs of surgeons, for dispensing a multi-component fluid applicator, for example fibrin and thrombin components of a tissue adhesive. The sealant components undergo turbulent mixing in a mixing chamber which causes a sharp change of at least 60 degrees in the direction of flow of each sealant component, to provide effective mixing and a quality sealant product. The mixing chamber has an increased cross-sectional area over the combined areas of the component supply passages and the fluid flows are directly opposed to impinge on each other in the mixing chamber. The mixing chamber is incorporated in a novel one-piece flexible and resilient manifold. Dual nozzle spray applicators with poppet valves are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6057814
Abstract: Disclosed are cross-talk resistant drive circuitry for electrostatic video displays and flexible, foldable and shaped embodiments of such displays including books, fanfolds and scrolls employing flexible polymer film construction. Transitorless drive circuitry uses row and column dumping capacitors to charge electrostatic pixels in a traveling group to avoid simultaneously charging row-adjacent pixels. Also, individual pixels can be shielded each with their own Faraday cage to control charge leakage from the pixel. The pixels' have spiral rollout shutters whose time parameters can be controlled by the use of suitable bleed resistors. Low-cost film technology manufacturing methods are also described.

  • Patent number: 6050875
Abstract: A method is disclosed for making a doll face comprising providing a fabric with at least one visual feature and placing the fabric, after it has been provided with such a visual feature, proximate to a plastic film to form a fabric and film assembly. The fabric and film assembly is then placed proximate a first heated shaping platen. The fabric and film assembly is driven proximate a first heated shaping platen to adhere the plastic film to the fabric and heat-form of fabric and film assembly into a desired shape having physical features, for example of a doll face. A portion of the adhered film and fabric is cut with a razor or the like to form a doll face. The face may then the incorporated into a doll. In accordance with the preferred embodiment, the fabric and film assembly is driven toward the first heated platen by a second heated shaping platen which is complementary in shape to the first heated shaping platen. The inventive doll head is one made using this process.
