  • Patent number: 3961776
Abstract: There is disclosed a mixing and kneading device for processing material such as synthetic plastics material. The device, which is designed primarily for use in a laboratory or for research and development work, consists of a power drive unit and a work unit. The work unit comprises a receptacle and is composed of a part adjacent to the drive unit and a part remote from the drive unit for placing thereinto a supply of material to be processed. Suitable mixing and kneading tools are journalled within the receptacle and releasably coupled to the power drive unit. The two receptacle parts are locked by an easily releasable clamping means to each other and to the power unit. Release of the clamping means selectively releases only the remote part of the receptacle or both parts from the drive unit, thereby permitting convenient and rapid emptying and cleaning of the receptacle, and also of the kneading and mixing tools after completion of a processing operation.

  • Patent number: 3961692
Abstract: In a magnetic clutch a rotatable axially transferrable input disc which is part of a magnetic flux path including a magnetic cup in the output structure, engages annular friction surfaces on the output structure when magnetic flux is generated in the flux path by a coil. The friction surfaces are part of a rotatable coil and a magnetic cup attached to the driven shaft about which the input disc rotates freely in the absence of flux. The frictional torque generated by the engagement of the disc and the friction surfaces is proportional to the voltage applied to the flux-producing coil. When the input disc is locked, application of flux results in a braking action on the driven shaft.

  • Patent number: 3960725
Abstract: Sludge containing metal hydroxide is first subject to a separation treatment where solid particles are removed, and then dewatered to obtain a greater concentration of the metal hydroxide. The dewatered sludge attains a thixotropic character whereupon it is applied to a carrier in a film-like manner. The film is heated and then sintered so as to achieve a metal oxide that is harmless and easily handable. The separation and dewatering steps of the process are carried out in a first apparatus having a suction drum surrounded by a filtering cloth that removes the water contained in the sludge and transfers it to a second apparatus having a rotating carrier for receiving on the circumference thereof the metal hydroxide in a film form, whereupon the film is heated during rotation of the carrier and sent to a sintering apparatus for conversion to a metal oxide in a granular or powder form.

  • Patent number: 3949521
Abstract: There is disclosed a walking toy figure such as a walking doll. The toy figure comprises a hollow trunk on which are suspended a pair of limbs such as legs which are freely pivotal between a standing position in which the legs occupy a substantially vertical position and a step position in which the legs are swung forwardly with reference to the standing position thereof. Drive means such as a miniature electric motor are coupled with the trunk so as to impart to the same lateral pendular movements. As a result of such movements, the weight of the figure is alternately shifted from one leg to the other, thereby causing the legs to swing alternately from the standing position to the step position and back again as the legs are lifted and put down again, thus causing the figure to walk forwardly in a wobbling manner similar to the walking of a toddler.

  • Patent number: 3949373
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for carrying out frequency studies. A similar apparatus, which works satisfactorily, is disclosed in the Swedish Pat. No. 337,311. The operation of the apparatus in the patent relies on the punching of cards or tapes, which after perforation are collected for evaluation. This manual operation is, however, in certain cases timewasting and there is a present need for a superior method of indicating and storing information for subsequent evaluation.

  • Patent number: 3947233
Abstract: There is disclosed a free-burning equipment for gaseous fuel which comprises a burner member or filter into which fuel is fed under pressure by a feed pipe. The burner member is suitably shaped such as a flat plate which includes a multitude of narrow channels for the passage of fuel therethrough. The fuel is mixed as it turbulently emerges from the outside of the burner member, and is later ignited. A multitude of flames will thus, due to the gas pressure, burn well away from the burner head surface permitting said burner head surface to remain cold during so-called "free-burning.

  • Patent number: 3944858
Abstract: A pulse code generator generates a number of different pulse sequences within a given frame by comparing the state of a clock driven counter having the same length as the frame and the contents of a fixed memory which contains in sequential locations numbers corresponding to the time position of the pulses within the frame. The memory is addressed by a second counter, which is presettable and is driven by the output pulses from a comparator. By presetting the second counter the position of the first pulse in any sequence is generated.

  • Patent number: 3942152
Abstract: A pulse pattern detector includes a local pulse pattern generator starting in response to an incoming signal impulse whether or not it is included in the pulse pattern to be detected. There is a number of timing circuits for measuring the time lapsed from each of the pulses in the locally generated pulse pattern and memory means for storing the measured value of all but the last timing circuit as soon as a signal impulse is received. Comparators are provided to compare the contents of the memory means to find if all the memory circuits have recordings equal to a state of the timing circuit in which case a signal is generated indicating that the desired pulse pattern is detected in the incoming pulse sequence.

  • Patent number: 3940562
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transit exchange for the transmission of asynchronous data signals having a given character structure and data rate, with the aid of a control equipment, including a computer and a sampling device, which is common to a number of sending terminal equipments and works on the time division multiplex principle. The instantaneous values of the data signals received over each of a number of incoming lines are sampled at a frequency so selected in relation to the asynchronous data rate that at least one sampling pulse falls within a distortionless region of the respective character element. The transit exchange includes a detector working synchronously with the sampling device to establish, by means of the successive processing of the sampling pulses, the binary value of each character element.
