  • Patent number: 4393799
Abstract: In the production of knitted garments especially pullovers, cardigans and sweaters it is frequently desired to add a knitted strip of material to the garment to define a neck opening. With this invention a first piece of fabric such as the strip is impaled on the points of a linking machine, the second piece of fabric such as the garment is then impaled on the points and the other marginal edge of the strip folded over the second piece of fabric and with said marginal edge abutting the points the two pieces of fabric are sewn together. When the strip has one marginal edge formed as a welt edge it is that edge which is impaled on the points.

  • Patent number: 4392676
Abstract: A hose handling device has a fitting adapted to be secured to one end of a hose. The fitting has a peripheral groove in its exterior surface in which a ring is mounted for relative rotational movement with respect to the fitting. An eye adapted to be engaged by a hook is fixedly secured to said ring. Advantageously, the eye is formed by opposed legs which conform to the outer diameter of the ring and are secured thereto by welding or the like. Preferably, the inner diameter of the ring has a relatively flat central portion each side of which is connected to a slightly beveled portion which, in turn, may be connected to a more sharply beveled portion connected to an exterior face of the ring. To facilitate swivelling the inner diameter of the ring may have a peripheral groove communicating with a grease fitting mounted on the exterior of the ring. The fitting may be connected to one end of a hose and have its other end threaded for connection to a threaded fitting.

  • Patent number: 4388076
Abstract: An intubating device has a flexible tube with an open proximal end and a discharge opening adjacent its distal end. A hollow stylet connector plug is removably secured to the proximal end of the tube. A stylet is secured to the plug and extends through the interior of the tube to a point adjacent the distal end of the tube. The stylet has an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the tube and smaller than the inner diameter of the plug to permit the passage of fluid between the stylet and the tube and between the stylet and the plug. A hollow connector fitting is integral with the plug and has a passage communicating with the interior of the plug. A stop accurately locates the stylet with respect to the tube preferably extending the tube.

  • Patent number: 4365456
Abstract: A packaging machine for bonding a sheet to opposite walls and over the articles in a paperboard tray. One embodiment has a conveyor to move the trays along a predetermined path that includes, in sequence, a film sheet supply station, a compression and heat bonding station, and a heating tunnel or shrinkage station. As the trays move in the predetermined path, a film sheet is drawn over the tops of the articles in each of the successive trays, and flight bars associated with the compression and heating station interpose the sheet between the trailing and leading walls of each of the successive trays and press the sheet against the adjacent trailing and leading walls. Heating means associated with the said flight bars heat the sheet, while compressed, to form a bond between the sheet and the trailing and leading walls.

  • Patent number: 4364474
Abstract: A package comprising a cylindrical plastic tube closed at each end by an ultrasonic band seal. The seal at one end has a sealed region which is narrower than any portion of the other seal whereby squeezing of the package produces an immediate one-shot dispensing of liquid contained therein by causing rupture of the narrow region of the seal. Various package forms include perpendicularly arranged bands to provide a tetrahedral shape, a tab extending beyond one seal to provide identification of the contents of the package, notched seals providing a tear open package, and a multiple package construction in which one fluid containing tube is contained within another.

  • Patent number: 4361995
Abstract: The present invention concerns a construction element, in particular containing plaster, in a plate which includes reinforcements distributed throughout the greater part of its thickness, such that along lines parallel to the sides of the plate, the reinforcements are concentrated in predetermined zone of the thickness and the plaster is removed plumb with these lines which may thus become folding lines to achieve a non-planar element. The invention also concerns a process and apparatus for manufacturing these construction elements. The invention applies, in particular, to the manufacture of U-shaped plasterboard panels for use in ceilings and in building structures.
