Abstract: An alignment device provides one or more references, such as laser lines and planes in horizontal and vertical orientations. One version of the alignment device includes an optics mounting assembly situated in a pivot socket on a frame to provide an output beam. Multiple spring systems and one or more alignment assemblies align and secure the optics mounting assembly in the socket. As a result, the output beam has a desired orientation with respect to true level. A first spring system directs the optics mounting assembly through the pivot socket. A second spring system holds the optics mounting assembly in communication with the alignment assemblies to reduce system backlash. One implementation of the pivot socket has a surface in the form of a sphere's interior surface. A set of support members on the optics mounting assembly rest on the pivot socket's spherical surface—causing the output reference beam to extend from the center of a sphere including the socket's spherical surface.

Abstract: An Identity System delivers customized request responses that integrate the results of multiple programs. The Identity System receives and translates a user request. The Identity Systems employs a program service to identify all the programs required to complete the request. The Identity System uses a XML data registry to retrieve a XML template and XSL stylesheet for each program. The Identity System executes all of the programs for the request and organizes their results into a single data structure, based on the templates for each program. The Identity System then applies attribute display characteristics to convert the data structure into a single Output XML. The Output XML can be provided directly to the user or receive further processing using the retrieved XSL stylesheets.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for a physical “sign-off” prototype tool that includes a prototype tool that generates a physical prototype for a design and a optimization tool that provides a designer with the option to further optimize the physical prototype before signing off on the design. In either situation, the “sign-off” prototype provides a forward prediction of the area, timing and performance of the final GDS of the design generated by a physical implementation tool.

Abstract: An audio/visual server is described that can be used to store and play audio/visual data. A removable hard disk (or other media) is connected to a dock that is in communication with a computer. While the removable hard disk is connected to the dock, audio/visual data can be transferred from the computer to the hard disk. After the hard disk is removed from the dock and connected to the audio/visual server, the server can access and play the audio/visual data. In one embodiment, the audio/visual server stores and plays music, emulates a disc changer, and communicates with an automobile stereo head unit. The interface with the head unit is programmable so that multiple head units can be supported.

Abstract: The present invention provides for a Domain Name Router (DNR) that uses domain names to route data sent to a destination on a network (e.g., a stub network). Each corporate entity or stub network can be assigned one or a small number of global addresses. Each of the hosts on the stub network can be assigned a local address. When a source entity sends data to a destination entity with a local address, the data is sent to the DNR using a global address. The source entity embeds the destination's domain name and its own domain name inside the data. The DNR extracts the destination's domain name from the data, translates that domain name to a local address and sends the data to the destination.
Abstract: An integrated circuit device having a select circuit, a summing circuit and a phase mixer. The select circuit selects one of a plurality of offset values as a selected offset. The summing circuit sums the selected offset with a phase count value, the phase count value indicating a phase difference between a reference clock signal and a first plurality of clock signals. The phase mixer combines the first plurality of clock signals in accordance with the sum of the selected offset and the phase count value to generate an output clock signal.

Abstract: A system and method of keypad entries on a numeric keypad as letters of a Latin alphabet. In one aspect, the method comprises the steps of receiving at least one key entry within a fixed time period, the key entry corresponding to a letter character and being an association of a projection of the letter character on the keypad; and translating said key entry to a text character. The method may include receiving at least a first key entry and a second key entry wherein said first key entry represents a first point in a character, and said second key represents a second point in the character, the first and second points being chosen to represent points on a projection of the character on the keypad.
Abstract: A system uses GPS receivers and other sensors to acquire data about one or more objects at an event. The data acquired by the GPS receivers and the sensors is used to determine various statistics about the objects and/or enhance a video presentation of the objects. In one embodiment, the acquired data is used to determine three dimensional positions of the objects, determine the positions of images of the objects in a video and enhance the video accordingly. One exemplar use of the present invention is with a system for tracking automobiles at a race. The system determines statistics about the automobiles and enhances a video presentation of the race.

Abstract: Described herein is a biopsy needle comprising a hollow outer tube at the end of which is a rectangular opening having sharpened edges. In preferred embodiments, the needle has one lumen formed by the needle or two lumens, formed either by a second hollow member positioned within the needle, or a ------- semi-circular tube inserted within the needle. To remove tissue using the needle, one inserts it into a patient's body, applies suction to the single or double lumens and then rotates the needle. Tissue is drawn into the needle lumen for subsequent evaluation by a Pathologist.
Abstract: A track model is created for use with a GPS receiver. In one embodiment, the track model is a set of planar surfaces which approximate the contiguous surface on which navigation takes place. The GPS receiver searches for an appropriate planar surface associated with its approximate position. Having found the appropriate planar surface, the GPS receiver constrains its position using the planar surface associated with its approximate position. Using the track model improves the accuracy of the computed position at the time and improves the ambiguity estimation process so that positions with greatly improved accuracy are available sooner.

Abstract: An integrated circuit device having a self-resetting phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit. The PLL circuit generates an output clock signal having a first frequency in a first operating mode and a second frequency in a second operating mode, the second frequency being determined, at least in part, by a reference clock signal. A control circuit within the integrated circuit resets the PLL circuit by selecting the first operating mode for a predetermined time interval, then selecting the second operating mode.
