Patent number: 6893488Abstract: A printing compound suitable for recording unique surface characteristics of an object such as a person's finger, palm or foot, tire tread or shoe sole, on a porous medium such as paper, is composed of (1) a composition, e.g., printer's ink, capable of delineating such surface characteristics when transferred to the porous medium by itself or in conjunction with a separate reagent and (2) a sufficient amount of water dispersable nonionic surfactant to render the composition substantially soluble in water without adversely affecting the ability of the composition to delineate the surface characteristics when transferred to the porous medium.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2003Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: Armor Holdings Forensics, Inc.Inventor: Douglas C. Arndt

Patent number: 6841188Abstract: A method of developing latent fingerprints involves the preparation of an 8-quinolinol complex by mixing a solution of 8-hydroxyquinoline or a derivative with a complexing reagent such as a metal salt. The solution is then applied to a porous substrate, such as paper, containing the latent fingerprint where the soluble complex is adsorbed onto the surface of the latent print and precipitates thereon. The unadsorbed solution is then removed from the substrate allowing the precipitate to highlight the latent image. The choice of the complexing reagent will determine the color of the precipitate and whether or not it is flourescent.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2004Date of Patent: January 11, 2005Assignee: Armor Holdings Forensics, Inc.Inventor: Douglas C. Arndt

Patent number: 6805121Abstract: An anti-g pressure regulator functions, in conjunction with a pressurized anti-g suit during high g loads, to supply O2 to a pilot's face mask during the inhalation phase with the O2 pressure rising from a predetermined minimum to a predetermined maximum as determined by the g load to increase the volume of O2 supplied to the pilot's lungs. During the exhalation phase the pressure is allowed to fall from the maximum to the minimum to reduce the stress experienced by the pilot during exhalation thereby enabling the pilot to tolerate high g loads. Optionally, the pressure of gas supplied to the anti-g suit may be controlled in a nonlinear manner with respect to the anticipated range of g-loads to improve the pilot's performance during exposure to intermediate g-loads.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2002Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Inventors: Michael G. Patent number: 6802576Abstract: A protected display case for securely displaying items and for securely storing the items out of view. The display case having a top section that has at least one transparent window and a bottom section. A lifting mechanism raises and lowers a shelf containing items for viewing. The lifting mechanism uses a motor, a gear assembly, and at least two guides that are spaced apart and fixed in a vertical position. The shelf travels up or down in relation to the guides. In the raised position, the items are in the top section and on display for viewing by way of at least one shatter resistant viewing window. Patent number: 6740089Abstract: A orthopedic hook system for use with a rod in correcting scoliosis comprising a body with a hook section and a rod engaging section, a grasp screw, a cap, and a set screw. The hook section fits over the bone and the grasp screw is used to secure the bone in place. The rod is brought within the rod receiving section and the cap is placed over the U-shaped rod receiving section. The set screw is used to force the cap into contact with the rod. The rod is thereby secured in place between the rod receiving section and the cap. Any excess length of the U-shaped rod is then removed.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2002Date of Patent: May 25, 2004Inventor: Thomas T. Haider

Patent number: 6698047Abstract: A hingeable mattress and cover combination. The hingeable mattress having a base section with a footer, a pivotable section with a header, and straps connected at one end to the pivotable section such that an operator can pull on the straps and thereby rotate the pivotable section toward the operator. The cover has a pocket to receive the header of the pivotable section. When the operator has a grasp of the header, the cover is placed over the header, the pivotable section is lowered to a reclined position and the cover is extended over the side walls and footer of the hingeable mattress. Patent number: 6657605Abstract: A color video display apparatus comprises a pixel array with each pixel containing one or more LEDs for generating each of the selected colors and a holographic optical element positioned in front of the array to form the transmitted light into a substantially elliptical pattern. Improved uniformity for the apparatus is achieved by measuring the intensity of each separate color generating LED in each pixel, recording each intensity and varying the current to each separate color LED or LEDs so that every LED or LEDs responsible for each color to provide a suitable color output. A feature of the apparatus is that a number of separate modules, each having a pixel array, can be combined to construct a video image board. These boards have applications in such areas as billboards along roadways and as signs in stadiums.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2000Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Inventors: Norton K. Patent number: 6634357Abstract: A resuscitation valve assembly includes a housing with an inlet port adapted to be connected to a pressurized breathable gas source, such as oxygen, an outlet port adapted to be connected to a patient's airway and an ambient air port. The inhalation chamber is connected to the pressurized gas source when a manually operated valve, within the housing, is open and is disconnected from the inhalation chamber when the valve is closed. An inhalation/exhalation check valve is disposed between the inhalation chamber, the outlet port and the ambient air port to conduct the high pressure gas through the outlet port and into the patient's airway, vent the patient's exhaled gas through the ambient air port and allow ambient air to flow through the outlet port in response to the patient's spontaneous breathing.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2000Date of Patent: October 21, 2003Assignee: Life Support Technology, Inc.Inventor: Robert M. Patent number: 6565567Abstract: A pedicle screw assembly for use with a rod for the immobilization of bone segments. The assembly is composed of a screw, a polyaxial housing for receiving the screw, a washer, a set screw, and a cup-shaped cap. The lower portion of the housing terminates in a reduced cross-sectional area, which engages the bottom of the screw head. When the screw is placed inside the polyaxial housing and the screw is secured into the bone, the polyaxial housing is pivotable with three degrees of freedom. The housing includes a top portion with a pair of upstanding internally threaded posts. A washer is inserted between the head of the screw and the rod. A cap, having a bottom, with a pair of posts accommodating openings and a lateral cross connector, is placed over the posts so that the cross connector engages the rod. The cross connector and washer have concave generally semicylindrical rod engaging surfaces to prevent the rod from rotating or sliding within the housing once the set screw is tightened.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2000Date of Patent: May 20, 2003Inventor: Thomas T. Patent number: 6488750Abstract: An inkless fingerprint compound includes a solvent, a color former, such as a transistion metal salt, compatible with the solvent and a developer such as hydroxiquinoline and derivatives, the developer capable of reacting with the color former to form a colorant product, preferably black in color. A sufficient amount of a chelating agent, such as a carboxylic acid, is added to the solution to prevent the color former and developer from reacting while in solution to form the colorant product while permitting such reaction when the solution is applied to the fingerprint area of the person to be fingerprinted and deposited onto a paper substrate.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2001Date of Patent: December 3, 2002Assignee: Armor Holdings Forensics Inc.Inventor: Douglas C.
