  • Patent number: 6064036
Abstract: A brake and wire regulator for spools (22 or 40), which supply filler wire to an arc welding gun (10), includes a mounting plate (30 or 62) which is secured to a housing (12a, 12b) for the gun or to a remotely located wire supply housing (38) and a brake arm (32 or 58) having a proximal end pivotally mounted on the mounting plate with the distal end (32f or 58a) of the brake arm extending between the rim plates of the spool. A spring (38 or 64) extending between the mounting plate and the brake arm biases the distal end of the arm against the outer layer of wire on the spool to provide a braking action for the spool to prevent the wire from unspooling when the welding process ceases and impede migration of the outer most layer of wire across the spool.

  • Patent number: 6023193
Abstract: A balanced bridge (full or half) power transconductance amplifier utilizes an input voltage signal to control current converter, in the form of a differential circuit, to derive a pair of control currents representative of the input signal and a load current monitoring signal. The converter includes a current input terminal which responds to a current representative of the load impedance for reducing the amplitude of the control currents (and the bridge current) due to an impermissibly low load impedance. A class A to class B converter responds to the control currents to provide a pair of discontinuous bridge drive currents with each drive current being proportional to the difference in the control currents during respective half cycles. A differential amplifier steers the bridge drive currents to respective legs of a full bridge in response to the voltages across the power supply terminal and the load to reduce any bridge unbalance.

  • Patent number: 5877752
Abstract: A light pen computer interface system utilizes a coil located externally of the computer's CRT display monitor to sense the magnetic field which provides the raster for the CRT. Vertical and horizontal sync detection circuits receive the sensor coil output and supply vertical and horizontal sync signals to a timing circuit. The timing circuit in response to an output signal from the light pen and the vertical and horizontal sync signals supplies a pen position signal to the computer which is either representative of the x,y coordinates position of the light pen on the CRT screen or representative of the change of x,y coordinates between successive positions of the light pen.

  • Patent number: 5873260
Abstract: A refrigeration cycle combines a concentrated absorbent liquid and a refrigerant in its vapor phase at low pressure in an absorber which provides, as an output, a liquid-rich refrigerant in solution with the absorbent liquid. The pressure of the absorbent/refrigerant solution is increased and the pressurized solution is supplied to a pervaporation membrane separator which provides as one output stream a vapor-rich refrigerant and as another output stream a concentrated liquid absorbent. The liquid-rich refrigerant output stream is condensed and subsequently expanded to a low pressure into an evaporator where it evaporates extracting heat from the spaced to be cooled. The concentrated liquid absorbent output stream from the separator is reduced in pressure and recombined in the absorber with the low pressure refrigerant vapor exiting the evaporator.

  • Patent number: 5833278
Abstract: A multiple flare-type compression fitting comprises a body member having a plurality of axially extending hollow nipples positioned adjacent one end (or both ends). One or more passageways within the body member communicate with the passageways in the nipples. A compression disk has cooperating stepped passageways with the enlarged sections arranged to surround the outer wall of an associated nipple with a flexible tube extending thereover, with the narrow sections accommodating the passage of the flexible tubes therethrough. The junction between the enlarged and narrow sections of each disk passageway form a relatively sharp corner for compressing a tube against the associated nipple when the disk is seated against the body member. The compression disk is rotatably carried by a nut which engages external threads on the body member so that when the nut is tightened the compression disk is in a seated position to secure the tubes in place.

  • Patent number: 5787882
Abstract: A demand valve resuscitator includes an inlet for connection to a pressurized source of breathable gas, such as oxygen, and an outlet for connection to a patient's airway. A normally-closed-pressure-actuated main valve is positioned between the inlet port and an inhalation chamber for controlling the demand mode of operation. A main valve controller operates the main valve in response to a reduced pressure in the inhalation chamber resulting from the commencement of spontaneous breathing by the patient. The manual operating mode, i.e., not dependent upon the patient breathing spontaneously, is controlled by a bypass valve which supplies gas to the patient independently of the main valve. A manually adjustable pressure relief valve sets the peak gas pressure. Another manual control permits the operator to preset the maximum opening of the bypass valve and therefore the flow rate of gas to the patient.
