  • Patent number: 8341746
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the identity of suspected malware on a client device. Information pertaining to the malware is sent from the client device to a server. The server determines a first required information set, and sends a request to the client device for the required information set. The client device compares the required information set with information stored at the client device, and returns the results of the comparison to the server. The server uses the results of the comparison to attempt to determine an identity of the malware. If the results of the comparison indicate that the suspected malware is one of a plurality of types of malware, a new required information set is determined, which is sent back to the client device, and the process repeated. Otherwise the identity of the suspected malware is determined, or it is determined that the suspected malware is unknown to the server.

  • Patent number: 8335474
Abstract: A user equipment senses a plurality of wireless signals it receives; estimates cyclic correlation of the received signals using a multi-variate sign function; determines from the estimated cyclic correlation which ones of the signals are detected based on cyclostationarity present at known cyclic frequencies; and a frequency resource is selected for opportunistic communications based on the frequencies over which were received the signals that were determined to be detected. In specific embodiments, the multi-variate sign function is bivariate; the detected signals are primary user signals and the selected frequency resource avoids frequencies on which they were received; and/or the detected signals are secondary user signals and the selected frequency resource can either avoid those frequencies on which they were received or use those frequencies for the UE's own opportunistic communications.

  • Patent number: 8331280
Abstract: First are determined which relays are available between at least one source and at least one destination, and from them are selected a subset of those relays for an activation interval under a constraint of equal transmit energy per selected relay across the activation interval. A matrix is formed, using CSI received from the relays, to evaluate each effective channel between source and destination that goes through each of the relays, including multi-relay hops, and the relays are selected from that matrix. Utility of source-relay pairing is evaluated in view of the relay-destination channel and the pairing enables relays to multiplex multiple sources where feasible.

  • Patent number: 8321735
Abstract: A length Nd?2 of a vector is determined, the vector indicating a type of data non-associated control signaling (e.g., CQI+ACK, CQI+NACK, or CQI-only). The length Nd may be sent individually to UEs or broadcast in the cell. The network decodes a received message using a sub-code word from its memory having the determined length Nd. From the sub-code word the network determines what type of data non-associated control signaling is in the received message, and may jointly decode CQI and the ACK/NACK. Varying the length Nd achieves an error performance: longer Nd deteriorates CQI performance and increases ACK/NACK performance. The UE receives the indication of the length Nd, determines a channel quality vector and also a type-vector from its memory having the length Nd, and multiplexes and jointly encodes the vector of length Nd with the channel quality vector.

  • Patent number: 8320276
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are concerned with multicarrier communication support, such as non-adjacent multicarrier support for a contiguous-bandwidth receiver. One embodiment includes receiving one or more carriers in a configurable contiguous bandwidth, calculating an imbalance metric representing a receiving imbalance over a set of carriers, said imbalance metric representing a difference between a first value based on received signal strength indication on each of one or more carriers and a second value based on received signal strength indication on each of one or more carriers, verifying, based on the calculated imbalance metric, whether a threshold condition relating to a current mode of an adjacent carrier mode and non-adjacent carrier mode is satisfied, and reporting an event for triggering reconfiguration of said configurable contiguous bandwidth to switch the current mode between said adjacent and non-adjacent carrier modes, if the threshold condition is satisfied.
