Abstract: Substituted 2- and 4-pyridones, pyrimidin-2- and 6-ones and tetrahydroquinolones when complexed with 4,4'-dinitrocarbanilide provide agents which are active coccidiostats and which produce minimal toxic side effects. Processes for the preparation of these complexes as well as compositions suitable for administration to poultry for the prevention and cure of coccidiosis are also disclosed.

Abstract: This application discloses methods of preparing styrylaralkylamines and phenylethynylaralkylamines. The reaction of an N-formyl iodo benzylamine with a metal phenylacetylide followed by reduction or hydrolysis produces the desired phenylethynyl benzylamine. The corresponding styrylaralkylamine is produced by a catalytic hydrogenation of the phenylethynyl benzylamine.
Abstract: Vitamin C in beverages such as natural and manufactured fruit and vegetable flavored drinks is stabilized by addition of controlled quantities of cysteine without adverse effects on taste. More especially, beverages containing both Vitamin C and metabolically available iron are stabilized by addition of cysteine, all in specific ratios.
Abstract: New substituted indenyl acetic acids and nontoxic pharmaceutically acceptable amides, esters and salts derived therefrom. The substituted indenyl acetic acids disclosed herein have anit-inflammatory, anti-pyretic and analgesic activity.

Abstract: Novel 4-phenyl-4-substituted-5-oxo-7-aryl-heptanoic acids are prefaced by either of two synthetic processes. The first method involves the reaction of a 4-phenyl-4-substituted-5-oxo-hexanoic acid with an arylcarboxyaldehyde. The second method involves reaction of an arylcarboxaldehyde with an appropriate ketone, treatment of the product with an acrylic acid ester, followed by hydrolysis of the resulting ester. The compounds of the invention are prostaglandin antagonists and are particularly useful as topical anti-inflammatory agents.

Abstract: A series of fast acting activated carbons is made having high surface areas and at the same time very small pore size. The method of manufacturing them, which specifies certain carbonaceous starting materials and pulverizing, agglomerating, crushing and oxidizing steps, determines or controls the pore sizes and surface areas. My activated carbon has highly uniform, very small pore sizes and at the same time a large surface area per unit of weight and a large macropore volume. New methods of separating mixtures of compounds, such as mixtures of hydrocarbons, are disclosed employing my new molecular sieve activated carbon. In my fast-adsorbing molecular sieve, molecules of generally lower molecular weight are adsorbed by the carbon rather than the usual case for activated carbon, which is that the carbon tends to adsorb generally larger molecules in preference to smaller ones.
Abstract: 4, 5, 6 or 7 Aryl substituted indenyl acetic acids and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, amides and esters thereof. The 4, 5, 6 or 7 aryl substituted indenyl acetic acids have anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic and analgesic activity. The invention also includes methods for the preparation of these compounds, pharmaceutical compositions and methods of treating inflammation by administering these particular compounds to patients.
Abstract: Aqueous hydraulic cement compositions containing sulfonated copolymers of styrene-maleic anhydride as flow-property-improving and turbulence-inducing additives and their use in cementing wells is disclosed.

Abstract: Process for preparing 5-fluoro-2-methyl-1-(p-methylsulfinylbenzylidene)-indene-3-acetic acid by reacting fluorobenzene with an acid halide, to form an indanone, reaction of the indanone with a methylthio (or methylsulfinyl)benzyl compound to form 5-fluoro-2-methyl-1-(p-methylthiobenzyl) or (p-methylsulfinylbenzyl)-indene and reacting said indene with a glyoxylic acid. The invention also relates to intermediates thereof and processes for said intermediates.
