  • Patent number: 5253715
Abstract: The invention involves a combination hoof pad and horseshoe which raises the horse's heel and at the same time supports the coffin bone. The pad is wedge-shaped to be higher at the heel and lower at the toe. An insert support is located on the bottom of the pad such that it presses upwardly from the ground line to give support to the center of the coffin bone. The shoe portion of the remedial pad and shoe combination is provided with high heels thus raising the hoof heel to relax the flexor tendons. Relaxing the flexor tendons reduces pull on the coffin bone.

  • Patent number: 5202027
Abstract: A secondary sewage treatment system is provided with vertically-aligned foam collecting, turbulent, mixing, settling, and sludge collecting zones. A grating defines the boundary between the turbulent and mixing zones. Beneath the grating, a buoyant media, such as hollow plastic spheres, are contained and occupy substantially all of the mixing zone. Air diffusers including elongated draft tubes extend from the turbulent zone down through the mixing zone for introduction of air to aerate waste water liquor and to cause the aerated liquor to recirculate up into the turbulent zone, thereby creating a circulation of waste water liquor from the turbulent zone, down through the mixing zone and around the buoyant media, and up through the draft tubes to the turbulent zone.

  • Patent number: 5194678
Abstract: A rest for a firearm or the like that attaches to the sling swivel on the forearm of the firearm. Said rest is comprised of two major assemblies. First assembly attaches to the sling swivel and provides a surrogate sling swivel and a female receptacle for the second assembly. Second assembly consists of male protrusion that mates with first assembly and two lightweight legs that can be quickly assembled and disassembled. Said rest allows quick attachment and detachment in the field. With a static leg position, said rest allows the ability to move the muzzle of the firearm in a conical motion, and randomly within the confines of the cone, while concurrently adjusting the cant of the rifle.

  • Patent number: 5186519
Abstract: An adjustable chair comprises a front seat assembly, a rear seat assembly, and a base assembly, the base assembly supporting the front and rear seat assembly independently of one another. The front seat assembly has a front seat pivotally mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis. The rear seat assembly has a rear seat pivotally mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis. The two rotation axes are separated from one another a sufficient distance that a person may sit on the front seat and position his or her back against the rear seat. Each seat is pivotally mounted by its respective seat assembly such that the rotation axis for each seat is located at a fulcrum point from which the seat is pivotally supported.

  • Patent number: 5163383
Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus for inverting sheep into a reclined position for examination and treatment. The apparatus provides a holding bed that can be positioned to a first position to receive a sheep that is being inverted by the technique used by sheep-shearers, and can then be positioned to a second position which places the sheep in a reclined position on its rump and back with its feet pointing upward. The method of inverting the sheep into the bed, when the bed is located at its first position, is non-threatening to the sheep and the sheep ends up laying in the bed without struggling. When the bed is then shifted to its second, examining and treating, position, the sheep feels secure, unthreatened, and therefore reclines comparatively comfortably without struggling.

  • Patent number: 5128518
Abstract: This invention is a device that warms a horse bit while holding the bit assembly. The bit is placed on top of a cylindrical, or other shaped housing that captures the heat from an internal heat source. The housing is attached to a heat element base. The heating element that attaches to the base creates the internal heat source for the housing. The housing and base combined are secured to a vertical member or wall. All of the included parts are non-combustible under the standard of the art regulations.

  • Patent number: 5123462
Abstract: An articulated brush cutting vehicle is provided having a rear powered unit and a front steering unit. A circular blade brush cutter is mounted on the forward end of a truss boom, the truss boom being pivotally mounted to the steering unit for side-to-side swinging movement and for up-and-down movement. Concealed hydraulic cylinders within said steering unit control the side-to-side movement of the boom and articulation between the vehicle units with minimal exposure of the cylinder rods during operation of the vehicle. The boom has an inverted apex on its bottom side so that the cutter may be operated even though there may be an obstruction between the steering unit and the cutter blade.

  • Patent number: 5104172
Abstract: The present invention provides a retractable tail gate assembly for a pick-up truck vehicle. The tail gate comprises a plurality of panel sections that are hinged together to make up a flexible tail gate panel. Each panel section carries two or more guides, at least one at each end thereof, which track in left and right hand guide channels. Each guide channel is mountable to a truck side at the rear of the truck bed opening, one guide channel on each side of the bed opening. The guide channels are configured to extend from the top of the bed opening downward below the truck bed whereunder they are angled forward to end beneath truck bed at a point above the truck axle. A reversible motor is mounted beneath the truck bed and connected to the bottom edge of the panel by means of an extending and retracting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5044187
Abstract: A metal tubing rolling apparatus positions a metal tubing section between three Nylon rollers for bending into a desired curvature. The middle roller is adjustably mounted to be raised and lowered and to preset the degree of arc to be placed in the portion of the tubing section between the fixed rollers. A constraining mounting for the middle roller permits vertical travel of the middle roller while maintaining a coplanar relationship with the fixed rollers.

  • Patent number: 5025988
Abstract: A spray distribution system for discharging liquid pesticides and the like from a crop-spraying aircraft includes a double spray header arrangement. One main header extends beneath the wings of the aircraft and is fitted with spray discharge nozzles only beneath the aircraft wings. An auxiliary header extends beneath the aircraft engine, forward of the main boom, and is fitted with spray discharge nozzles beneath the aircraft body. The auxiliary boom is located far enough forward of the main header that it is out of the prop blast region. Each spray discharge nozzle emits liquid through an elongated discharge tube that substantially prevents misting. The spray discharge nozzles are each mounted on a downcomer conduit thus being located sufficiently below the aircraft wing so as to further reduce turbulence around the emitted liquid. The nozzles may be modified so as to accommodate more than one discharge tube.

  • Patent number: 4977866
Abstract: A movable wall member is mounted in the intake runner of an internal combustion engine manifold and connected to an actuator plate in the manifold plenum which moves the wall member in a longitudinal direction to increase the effective runner length. A rigid link or end panel is pivotally connected to the other end of the wall member and to the associated runner wall so that longitudinal movement of the wall member results in simultaneous transverse movement thereby reducing the effective cross-sectional flow area of the runner passage. The movable wall members of multiple runner passages are connected to a common actuator plate in the manifold plenum which reduces the effective plenum volume upon displacement of the actuator plate.
