  • Patent number: 4275574
Abstract: A stop mechanism for knitting machines of the Rachel type comprising a reed with an upper flange fitted with a strengthening section projecting from and along a whole edge for guiding a thread. A contact which is fixed for threads not forming a nap, and is movable and cylindrical for threads produces a nap. The reed has small plates and blade components between these plates. The blade components are bent to form a groove for guiding the thread. Each blade component has two circular holes and one elongated hole and the built-in tendency for toppling over onto this contact. The blade components and small plates are connected by two spindles. The contact may have a chordal flat for increasing its contact area and is attached to an electrical conductor at one of its extreme ends and can be moved along a semicircular path by a crank. A metal spindle attached to an electrical wire passes through the circular hole innermost on the blade component.

  • Patent number: 4275482
Abstract: An arrangement for carding fibers to produce a fibrous sliver, in which the fibrous sliver is advanced through the nip between two rollers, and withdrawn downwardly from the nip through a compacting funnel in which the sliver becomes formed with a coherent ribbon. The fibrous sliver is withdrawn in a vertical path coinciding with a center line of the nip, or it may be withdrawn in a path which is inclined to the longitudinal end to a center line of the nip. The pair of nip rollers are positioned to receive the fibrous sliver so that the latter passes through the nip therebetween. The spacing between the nip rollers and a guide baffle is arranged to be greater than the spacing between the guide baffle and a pair of withdrawing rollers located downstream of the funnel.

  • Patent number: 4275024
Abstract: The densified area commonly formed during the manufacture of blocks of pliable polyurethane foam on a web of continuous material in a foaming tunnel is eliminated by controlled heating of the conveyor belt in the tunnel to a range between the densification temperature and the cracking temperature of the foam during the reaction period. An improved apparatus for this purpose comprises an enclosed, insulated housing and means for heating the conveyor belt such as hot air, infrared radiation, steam coils or electrical resistors. A preferred embodiment comprises heating the bottom of the foam block after it emerges from the foaming tunnel to a temperature considerably higher than that in the foaming tunnel. This eliminates completely any need for trimming off irregularities after removal of the web of continuous material.

Abstract: A sliding roof construction for a vehicle comprising a transparent slide roof member movable forwardly and rearwardly to close and open an opening provided in the roof of the vehicle and a sunshade slidably mounted beneath the transparent slide roof member for selectively covering the slide roof member. A guide rail is mounted on the roof of the vehicle for slidably supporting the slide roof member and the guide rail has first and second guide grooves extending substantially parallel to one another. One of the guide grooves slidably supports slider members respectively mounted on the slide roof member and sunshade in front to back relation such that when the slide roof member is opened, the sunshade is opened therewith, whereas when the slide roof member is closed, the sunshade can selectively cover and uncover the closed slide roof member. The other guide groove slidably supports a stay on the slide roof member which can be used to drive the slide roof member in its opening and closing movements.

  • Patent number: 4275447
Abstract: Method of regulation of the water level in boilers or steam generators, in which the inlet flow of feedwater is regulated in response to a deviation signal proportional to the difference between the real measured water level and a reference level, the proportionality factor being a linear function of the power level of the boiler with respect to the nominal power, modified by a non-linear function of .xi. which preserves very low values for .xi. close to zero and increases very rapidly for higher values of .xi. so that the total gain is increased for low power levels and high values of .xi. within a restricted range.

  • Patent number: 4273508
Abstract: The proposed method for automatic control of a power plant is as follows. A control signal of the electric generator's electric load is applied to a first control element which controls the flow of gas supplied from the gas line to the high-pressure section of an expansion engine. This controls the amount of gas directed from the take-off chamber of the expansion engine to the gas pipeline. A control signal to control the pressure downstream of the expansion engine is applied to a second control element to control the flow rate of the gas flow directed from the low-pressure section of the expansion engine to the controlled counter-pressure line. A control signal to control the pressure downstream of the expansion engine is applied to a third control element to control the gas flow rate, which is installed in the line that bypasses the low-pressure section of the expansion engine, whereby the rest of the gas flow is directed to the controlled counterpressure line.
