Abstract: A prefilled ampoule-syringe comprising an ampoule and an ampoule body having a single open end and a neck located near the single open end, the neck having a smaller transverse inner dimension then said body. A stopper, associated with an external capsule, has an internal conduit to allow communication between the interior of the ampoule body and the injection tip, the stopper being arranged for axial movement within said neck from a closed to an open position. An upper part of the stopper having at least one continuous annulus surface having a larger outer dimension than the inner dimension of the ampoule neck so as to be in a sealing compressed condition in the closed position and having a smaller outer dimension than the inner dimension of the ampoule body so as to be in a partly expanded condition in said open position to permit the flow of liquid from the ampoule body to the tip.
Abstract: A control mechanism for a torque converter with bridge clutch and a lubrication circuit for a hydrodynamic-mechanical combined transmission, wherein the hydraulic operating pressure which charges the torque converter (3) and closes the converter direct clutch (31) is switched on in a pulse-modulation process via a solenoid value (4) controlled by an electronic unit (5) so that the operating pressure slowly builds up and diminishes and the converter direct clutch (31) engages and disengages softly.
Abstract: A transporting belt is partially held by a holding belt. The holding belt is rolled up into a tubular shape through which both of the forward and return paths of the transporting belt passes. Both of the belts are supported by a plurality of shape-maintaining frames each of which comprises a plurality of shape-maintaining rollers arranged like a circle. The holding belt is provided at a horizontal or vertical curved portion so that the transporting belt may travel smoothly and may not be exposed to the weather.
Abstract: Silent touch fastener material adapted to releasably engage a mating surface and adapted to produce reduced sound during rapid separation of the touch fastener material from the mating surface. The material comprises a planar backing material having an engaging surface thereon contacting the backing material at discrete points and adapted to releasably engage the mating surface and means for reducing the coupling of noise-producing vibration from the backing material into the surrounding air.

Abstract: The process for making metal artificial tooth parts consists in that an impression of the tooth or jaw to be treated is prepared using an electrically non-conductive material, the inner wall of said impression is coated with a heated low-melting alloy and then the interior is filled up with filling material in which fixing pins are inserted in the case of crowns, inlays and bridges. Alternatively, the impression is filled up with traditional filling materials and an electric conductive coating is produced by vaporizing a metal layer, spraying a conductive lacquer or currentless deposition of an electrically conductive layer. Again, alternatively the impression may be filled up with electrically conductive plastic.
Abstract: A mechanism for the transportation of objects on an endlessly rotating roller chain (4) of a support structure, which chain moves in or upon a support structure (1), having pallet-like sliding carriages (12) guided in or upon tracks of the support structure for receiving the objects to be transported. The sliding carriages are each provided with a guiding element (29) in which a second endless roller chain (34) or a sprocket wheel rotates with part of its rollers (35) or with the sprocket wheel engaging between the conveyor rollers (5) of the first roller chain (4), thereby resulting in a form locking. The guiding element (29) is provided with a member (41) that adjusts the carrying force of the second roller chain or of the sprocket wheel.
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously producing an elongated strip-like fastener member is disclosed which facilitates highly efficient formation of the fastener member with a great multiplicity of resiliently flexible hook-like projections. The method comprises the formation of an extrusion of plastic material which is shaped between a pair of coacting first and second rollers of the apparatus. Notably, one of the rollers is formed of a series of plates and defines a plurality of hook-forming cavities about its periphery within which the hook projections of the fastener member are formed. The forming roller is suitably cooled so as to effect substantial reduction in the temperature of the molten plastic extrusion form which the fastener member is formed. In this manner, the fastener member may be removed or stripped from the forming roller without opening of the hook-forming cavities, thus promoting highly efficient formation of the fastener member without resort to unduly complex equipment or processes.
Abstract: A high speed print pin driver for a dot matrix printer. A U-shaped core having a pair of parallel spaced legs is formed of a plurality of laminations of silicon iron. A rectangular magnetic field-forming coil is on one of the legs. A magnetic flux plate of silicon iron is disposed across the open end of the U of the core between the legs, the flux plate being attached to the other of the legs and in close-spaced adjacent relationship to the one of the legs. The top surface of the flux plate over the other leg is slightly longitudinally beveled and the flux plate has a bore therethrough over the one of the legs and longitudinally aligned therewith. A longitudinal spring-metal beam is disposed along the flux plate, being attached on one end to the beveled top surface and extending out over the flux plate on the other end. The beam includes an armature piece of magnetically attractable material disposed within the bore in the flux plate.

Abstract: A counterrotatable bladed rotor assembly drivable by a rotatable shaft comprises a leading propeller, a trailing propeller, and a gearbox located axially between the two propellers and enclosed by a non-rotatable casing having an end for attachment to a support structure. The gearbox has a first output shaft to the leading propeller and a second output shaft to the trailing propeller. A first fluid-pressure operable actuator is provided to vary the pitch of the blades of the leading propeller, and a second fluid-pressure operable actuator is provided to vary the pitch of the blades of the trailing propeller. In addition passageways are provided to connect the first and second actuators to a source of fluid under pressure. The casing rotatably supports the second output shaft at a position between the gearbox and the leading propeller and rotatably supports the first output shaft at a position between the gearbox and the trailing propeller.
Abstract: The machine is of the kind comprising an elongate etch chamber, and a conveyor which is arranged to feed p.c.b's through said etch chamber. In accordance with the invention the etch chamber is divided into two spaced sections comprising a first relatively long main etch section (1) followed by a second relatively short control etch section (2), and two control stations are provided, the first (5) between the two spaced sections, and the second (6) subsequent to said second section, the first and second control stations providing locations for checking and comparing the etch conditions of the p.c.b's at the two stations in order to control the speed of the conveyor appropriately so that the amount of undercut of the p.c.b's exiting from said second etch chamber is kept to a minimum. Preferably, checking is carried out automatically by providing a light source (7,8) beneath the conveyor (1a) at each of the first and second control stations which direct light upwardly through p.c.

Each of the containers comprises a square box having a planar base with top and bottom surfaces and four sides extending upward perpendicular to the top surface. A rectangular fastening lip extends outward from the base perpendicular to one of the sides. One component of hook and loop fastening material is disposed on opposed surfaces of the lip and a strip of the other component of hook and loop fastening material is disposed on the bottom surface of the base beneath the side adjacent the side from which the lip extends outward whereby the containers can be releasably hung by the lip from a shear trap channel containing the other component of hook and loop fastening material therein and four of the containers can be nested with the lip of each disposed under and in engagement with the strip of material on a next adjacent container.

Abstract: An amphibious self-contained oil spill absorbing machine having a chassis supported and propelled on land by front and rear rollers. The front roller has a covering of oil absorbing material and works against a pinch roller to squeeze oil absorbed by the covering into a trough for collection. The machine may be driven into the water supported by floats adjustable by rams to control the depth of penetration of the roller. Operation is possible in shallow water, on beaches and in estuary conditions.
Abstract: A method for preparing an alcohol-free barley malt-based beverage of reduced caloric content is described. In a preferred embodiment, the method consists of adding to a conventionally procssed Malta beverage, following boiling, cooling and filtering, but prior to packaging an amylolytic enzyme system. The amylolytic enzyme system converts te maltose and complex carbohydrates (dextrins) present in the beverage extract to simple, sweet-tasting dextrose.
Abstract: The system comprises a spring between the vehicle body and each wheel, a shock absorber associated with each spring and which is switchable electromagnetically between soft and hard settings, one or more accelerometers measuring vertical acceleration of the vehicle body, an electronic filter for filtering the signals from the accelerometer to select a band width of frequencies, either side of the primary ride frequency of the vehicle, and control means for switching the shock absorbers between the soft and hard settings whenever a pre-determined level of vertical motion within this band width is exceeded either in the bump or rebound directions.
Abstract: An easily replaceable collet assembly for use in a movable pallet containing a plurality of stations for releasably gripping and rotating a plurality of resin preforms as they are moved through a blow molding process for providing rapid reconfiguration of the stations to accept different sized preforms. There is a mounting member carried by the pallet for rotation, the mounting member comprising a mounting plate perpendicular to a rotatable shaft connecting it to the pallet; a locking member carried by the mounting member for rotation about the shaft; and, a collet member for releasably gripping a preform of a given size, the collet member including locking apparatus for interacting with the locking member to releasably attach the collet member to the mounting plate to be moved in combination therewith.

Abstract: An electrochemical measuring system which effects, measures and sorts charge transfer reactions of selected substances in a sample solution is provided. The system includes a novel electrode which is adapted to measure simultaneously on at least two electrodes at least two electrolytic potentials with reference to a reference potential. In a preferred form the electrode comprises a hollow, cylindrical body formed of an electrically insulating material. The electrode is open at least at one end and has a generally smooth cylindrical inner surface. A plurality of electrically discrete active electrode segments are mounted on the inner surface of the electrode with their active surfaces substantially flush with the generally smooth cylindrical inner surface.
