Abstract: In a magnetic disk drive, a shock absorbing device has recesses formed in the base of the disk drive, and elastic shock absorbing members respectively fitted in the recesses. In an unstressed position, the highest point or apex of each shock absorbing member is higher than a mount face in which the recess is formed. A suitable gap exists between the outer periphery of the shock absorbing member and the inner periphery of the recess. When the base of the disk drive is affixed to the housing of a system body, the shock absorbing member is deformed and is fully received in the recess because of the gap. When the disk drive is caused to fall down by accident, the shock absorbing device reduces the impact to be imparted to mechanisms mounted on the base.

Abstract: In a synchronizing circuit receiving a bit stream including a synchronous pattern and various kinds of information bits, for outputting a synchronous signal, there is provided a synchronous pattern register which is previously set with known information bits of the layer, the bit rate and the sampling frequency. A synchronous pattern detecting circuit is configured not to recognize as a synchronous pattern, a synchronous pattern having the values other than previously set values. With this arrangement, it is possible to remarkably reduce probability that a quasi synchronous pattern is detected as the synchronous pattern, and therefore, it is possible to minimize missing of sound corresponding to the digital audio signal.

The isolating chamber is partitioned by the shielding plate and has a partition plate defining a vacant section surrounding the balancing mechanism and an exhaust opening from which the air in the drying chamber is drawn out by a pumping action of the vanes due to the rotation of the shielding plate and is exhausted to the outside through an external wall of the partition wall.
Abstract: A thermal emitted radiation detecting device is configured to detect objects in visual blind spots of a vehicle. A low cost differential detector is used which is sensitive to temperature change. Optics train two different fields of view on the detector and switch between the two fields of view to provide a blind spot field of view and a reference field of view. The presence of a vehicle in the blind spot field of view results in a temperature difference between the two fields of view. The resulting detector output signal is compared to predetermined threshold levels and then used to provide an indication, either visual or audible. Several embodiments of optics and switching fields of view are provided.
Abstract: In order to retrain from rising a temperature of a phase transition for a silicide of refractory metal, such as Ti, Co, Pt, Ni, Mo, W, Ta, or the like, a method for manufacturing a semiconductor device has a process of forming a low electric resistance layer on a surface of a silicon. The process comprises a step of forming, on the surface of the silicon, a layer of silicide of refractory metal with phase transition nuclei therein. The process further comprises a step of subjecting the silicide to phase transition by a phase transition heat treatment at a predetermined transition temperature to convert the silicide layer into a crystalline phase which has low electric resistance. Thereby the low electric resistance layer is formed. Preferably, the silicide of refractory metal with phase transition nuclei is amorphous or the silicide of refractory metal with phase transition nuclei is crystalline but has damages.

Abstract: A ball grid type of semiconductor device is provided which includes a semiconductor chip having a plurality of electrode pads. In one preferred embodiment, the semiconductor chip is adhered to a plurality of corresponding planar metal leads via an insulator. The plurality of electrode pads and the plurality of corresponding metal leads are bonded by wires. The semiconductor chip and the plurality of metal leads are sealed together with the wires with a material. A predetermined number of holes passing through the seal to the plurality of metal leads are formed by a laser beam or a drill. Then, solder bails are melted to connect each of the solder balls to a corresponding one of the plurality of metal leads. Finally, the plurality of metal leads are cut at the outer surface of the seal.

The planar sealing surfaces are formed by machining selected planes across the compound curved surface.
Abstract: A liquid delivery system is provided, which enables to deliver a liquid source material at a specified flow rate without contamination of the source material and blocking of the delivering channel. A liquid forwarding device is provided for forwarding a liquid source material. The device has a communication path communicating with the channel. An elastic outer tubular member and an elastic inner member form the communication path therebetween. The device has ultrasonic vibrators placed onto the outer wall of the outer member. The vibrators vibrates the outer member to generate a surface acoustic wave travelling along the inner wall of the outer member. The travelling wave forwards the material existing in the communicating path. The device is controlled by a forwarding rate controller to adjust a forwarding rate of the material existing in the communication path. A flow rate of the material is sensed by a flow rate sensor. The forwarding rate is adjusted by changing vibration of the vibrators.
