Abstract: A sports implement in accordance with at least one exemplary implementation includes a golf club head and a force diversion apparatus on the golf club head. The force diversion apparatus may include a force conversion portion configured to redirect at least a portion of a force associated with an object impacting the force diversion apparatus and a strike plate.
Abstract: A method for acquiring Global Positioning System (GPS) code includes describing GPS code as a Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) code, and decoding the LDPC code to achieve acquisition by directly solving for the correct code phase.

Abstract: A container, suitable as a hot-fill container, includes a controlled deflection flex panel which may invert and flex under pressure, such as hot-fill conditions, to avoid deformation and permanent buckling of the container. The flex panel includes an initiator portion which has a lesser projection than the remainder of the flex panel and initiates deflection of the flex panel.
Abstract: Probes that are sensitive to electrode/tissue contact and that are configured to connect an electrode to a power supply and/or provide an indication when the desired level of electrode/tissue contact has been achieved.

Abstract: A receiving system includes a combiner configured to receive signals from two or more antenna elements and to generate sum and difference outputs, and a switch configured to sequentially provide the sum and difference outputs as inputs to a receiver.
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for converting one type of speech processor unit into another type of speech processor unit. A behind the ear (BTE) speech processor is converted to a body-worn device by means of a container that encloses the BTE and allows for device operations and charging. The body-worn device is worn in one embodiment on a belt of a patient.

Abstract: Insert assemblies for use with a golf club shaft including an insert and an insert lock, insert assembly systems, and apparatus for use with insert assemblies.
Abstract: A strap for a shoe has a first resilient and flexible fabric element extending from a first end to a second end and a clear flexible element substantially fixed at respective ends of the clear flexible element to corresponding ends of the first fabric element. Methods of assembly and of use are described.
Abstract: A spectrometer apparatus includes a refractor element, a slit, a detector, a diffraction grating, and a corrector lens. The refractor element includes a rear surface and a front surface. The slit provides an optical path to the rear surface of the refractor element, and is configured to transmit an image incident thereupon along the optical path. The detector is positioned facing the rear surface of the refractor element. The diffraction grating faces the front surface of the refractor element, and is configured to spectrally disperse and reimage the image of the slit toward the front surface of the refractor element. The corrector lens is positioned between the refractor element and the diffraction grating such that the image is provided to the detector corrected for a spherical aberration caused by a separation distance between the detector and the rear surface of the refractor element.
Abstract: This invention relates to methods, apparatuses and systems for testing the functionality of the pumping mechanism of a medical device, e.g., an implantable infusion pump, while the medical device is contained within a shipping package. The test apparatus enables such functional verification, without opening the shipping package, when the medical device is still contained within the package that has been appropriately sealed to maintain sterility of the medical device.
Abstract: An apparatus includes antenna elements configured to receive a signal including pseudo-random code, and electronics configured to use the pseudo-random code to determine time delays of signals incident upon the antenna elements and to compensate the signals to coherently combine the antenna elements.
Abstract: A heat exchanger includes a body 4 on the surface of which are provided helical or spiral paths 5 which will provide multiple and turbulent flow paths A for a first fluid such as water which is caused to flow through chamber 3 relative to a spirally wound heat exchange tube 6 and in a heat transfer relationship with a second fluid flowing through the tube 6. The tube 6 has one or more further helical or spiral flow paths 9 on its external surface. The multiple flow paths A will extend the residence time for the first fluid within the heat exchanger 1 and this together with the turbulence will maximise heat transfer. Preferably a portion of the first fluid flow will be through a central aperture in body 4 where turbulence is also created by the helical or spiral paths of the tube 6 as it extends through the aperture.
