Abstract: Adhesive compositions are made from methacrylate ester monomers, elastomeric polymers having a Tg below -25.degree. C. and which are soluble in the monomers, core-shell polymers which swell in the monomers but do not dissolve therein, and free radical producing catalysts. These adhesive compositions when used in bonded assemblies exhibit a combination of high adhesive bond impact strength and high bulk tensile elongation.
Abstract: The viscosity of aqueous fluids thickened with a tertiary amino polygalactomannan is reduced by the addition of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt of hypochlorous acid, or a chlorinated isocyanurate.

Abstract: Stable prepolymer solutions are made from partially cyclotrimerized 4,4'-thiodi(phenylcyanate) dissolved in cyclopentanone. The prepolymer solutions are used to make flame retardant and thermally stable laminates.
Abstract: Flame retardant thermoset compositions having excellent water absorption resistance, caustic resistance, and low dielectric constants are made from blends of the dicyanate ester of 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene) bisphenol and a different polycyanate ester of a polyhydric phenol.
Abstract: Elastomeric compositions having resistance to hot grease aging are made from a blend of a thermoplastic copolyester elastomer, and chorinated polyethylene with or without the addition of a carbodiimide and a guanidine.
Abstract: A process for the reduction of free epichlorohydrin in epoxy compounds which involves the treatment of an epoxy compound with an alkali metal sulfite, preferably sodium sulfite.
Abstract: Quaternary ammonium containing monomers, represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is H or methyl, R.sub.2 is an alkyl group containing 6 to 22 carbon atoms, D is an alkylene group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a hydroxyalkylene group containing 2 to 4 carbon atoms and X is an anion, are polymerized to form polymers useful in hair care preparations.
Abstract: Moisture absorbing pellets useful as animal litter are made from a blend of bentonite clay and a solid water-swellable but water-insoluble organic polymeric hydrocolloid.
Abstract: Ambient curing coating compositions are made from aqueous dispersions of copolymers of acetoacetoxyethyl acrylate or methacrylate, glycidyl arcylate or methacrylate, and ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable acid and a different monomer copolymerizable therewith.
Abstract: A catalyst for the steam reforming of hydrocarbons contains nickel on an alumina/calcium aluminate support which is doped with 0.2 to 10 percent by weight of titanium dioxide. The titanium dioxide has the effect that the calcium aluminate is at least partially in the form of a hibonite [CaO(Al.sub.2 O.sub.3).sub.6 ] phase in an .alpha.-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 matrix as defined by x-ray diffractometry.
Abstract: A catalyst for the selective hydrogenation of polyunsaturated hydrocarbons which contain entirely or predominantly more than five carbon atoms, containing palladium with a promotor on a metal oxide support. The promotor is a metal from the subgroup IB of the periodic system (preferably silver) and the metal oxide support (TiO.sub.2 optionally mixed with CeO.sub.2 and/or ZrO.sub.2) is macroporous, the pore volume being about 0.2 to 0.4, preferably about 0.25 to 0.30 ml per g of carrier and the proportion of the macropores having a diameter of more than 14 nm being at least 65%.

Abstract: Curable compositions are made from blends of polycyanate esters of polyhydric phenols and amorphous, aromatic thermoplastic resins which are initially soluble in the polycyanate ester but which phase separate during curing of the polycyanate ester.
Abstract: Leak resistant absorbent articles are made from a tubular casing of liquid permeable fabric wherein the casing is loosely filled with a mixture of particles of a crosslinked hydrocolloid and particles of other liquid absorbing material.
Abstract: Alkyl ethers of polygalactomannans wherein the alkyl groups contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms are further modified with long chain aliphatic epoxides wherein the long chains contain 8 to about 28 carbon atoms. The resulting derivatized polygalactomannans are particularly useful as thickening agents for aqueous systems.
Abstract: Organophilic clays useful for modifying the rheological properties of organic fluids are made from a smectite type clay, a quaternary ammonium compound and a zirconium-aluminum organic complex.
Abstract: An improved catalyst for the high temperature shift reaction especially suited for low steam to gas ratio applications is made by dipping an iron oxide-chromium oxide catalyst in an aqueous copper salt solution, drying the catalyst and calcining it.
Abstract: Conductive plastic articles are prepared by forming plastic pellets, etching the pellets in an etching bath, treating the pellets with a palladium-tin catalyst solution and an acidic accelerator, coating the pellets with metal, and heating the coated pellets.
Abstract: Polycyanate esters of polyhydric phenols are cured with a liquid solution of a metal acetylacetonate in an alkylphenol. Such cured compositions are useful in structural composites, transfer molded-encapsulants, filmed structural adhesives and printed wiring boards.
Abstract: Adhesive compositions having improved stability and surface insensitivity are made from a blend of (a) a 2-cyanoacrylate ester adhesive, (b) a polyoxyalkylene glycol, glycol ester, or glycol ether, and (c) fumed silica having no surface treatment.
