Abstract: Stable aqueous fabric softening compositions based on water-dispersible cationic fabric softeners such as the di-long chain, di-short chain quaternary ammonium salts are provided using synergistic proportions of fatty alcohols to enhance the softening performance. Both concentrated and ready-for-use formulations can be prepared. The active ingredients concentration in the concentrated formula is generally in the range of 11 to 20% by weight while for the ready-for-use formulations, concentration of the active ingredients may range from about 3 to about 8% by weight. In either case, the weight ratio of cationic softening agent to fatty alcohol being in the range of from about 4.5:1 to 3.5:1. These compositions have low viscosity and are easily dispersible in cold water and are storage stable. Water soluble electrolytes can further reduce viscosity and ethoxylated amines can further increase stability. Methods for making the compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method of removing mono-C.sub.12 -C.sub.18 alkyl quaternary ammonium hair conditioners from the hair by washing said hair with a cleaning composition containing a C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 alketh (1-5) sulfate salt as the principal detergent and to cleaning compositions for use in the inventive method.

The dental cream contains a dentally acceptable water-insoluble alkaline earth metal salt, a liquid vehicle and a gelling agent. The liquid vehicle contains water, glycerine and sorbitol and, as an additive to prevent syneresis due to contact between the dental cream and the polyolefin resin, propylene glycol which acts also as a preservative against bacterial contamination of the product.

Abstract: A stable hair rinse composition which provides softness, shine, ease of combing, fly-away control (static control) and ease of styling and is easy to wash out with conventional anionic alkyl ether polyethenoxy sulfate-based shampoos without deposit or build-up consisting essentially of effective amounts of distearyl or ditallow quaternary ammonium compound, a C.sub.7 -C.sub.17 alkylamido C.sub.2 -C.sub.3 alkyl di-14 C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl amine, propylene glycol, mineral oil, a C.sub.8 -C.sub.18 alkanol and cyclomethicone in an aqueous vehicle.

Abstract: A liquid dishwashing detergent composition for hand washing of dishes in cold water includes a synthetic organic nonionic detergent, a cationic surface active agent, a water soluble C.sub.21 dicarboxylic salt and an aqueous medium. The proportion of the combination of nonionic detergent and cationic surface active agent is a detersive proportion, useful to remove fatty deposits on dishes, and the proportion of the C.sub.21 dicarboxylic salt is sufficient to improve the detersive action in cold water of the combination of nonionic detergent and cationic surfactant so that the composition better removes fatty deposits on dishes being washed.

Abstract: Detergent laundry bars of acceptable mildness, foaming properties and processing characteristics are described which are based on built higher fatty alcohol ethoxylate sulfate detergent and which contain bentonite, which acts as a bodying agent for the laundry bars, facilitating production thereof, and contributes fabric softening properties to laundry washed with such laundry bar. When the bentonite is omitted or is replaced by water insoluble filler, such as calcium carbonate powder, bars made are not of acceptable hardness and such compositions are not satisfactorily processable in conventional soapmaking apparatuses.Also described are processes for converting aqueous solutions of higher fatty alcohol ethoxylate sulfate detergent to solid form by treatment with bentonite, and for making detergent laundry bars from such solidified detergent.

Preferably, this improved detergent laundry bar includes 18 to 22% of sodium alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid methyl ester, 8 to 20% of sodium tripolyphosphate, 5 to 15% of sodium carbonate, 2 to 5% of sodium silicate, 20 to 35% of calcium carbonate, 5 to 15% of talc and 10 to 15% of water.

Abstract: An aerosol antiperspirant composition in the form of a substantially stable water-in-oil emulsion is disclosed which consists of 25% to 50% by weight of a liquefied, normally gaseous propellant and 50% to 75% of a base consisting essentially of, by weight, 4 to 20% of at least one water-soluble, astringent salt having antiperspirant efficacy; 0.5 to 5% of a water-in-oil emulsifier; 10% to 25% of a propellant-soluble emollient-stabilizer agent consisting of a water-insoluble, organic, liquid emollient and a water-insoluble organic liquid having a boiling point in the range of 35.degree. C. to 155.degree. C., the weight ratio of emollient to organic liquid being in the range of 0.8:1 to 3:1, and 55% to 78% of water. In preferred compositions, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 hydrocarbon propellants are employed.
