Abstract: A method of improving the light fastness of textile materials using an aqueous dispersion of a compound of formula I, ##STR1## having a first (A) and a second (B) benzoxazine-4-one ring joined by a phenylene bridging member; a variable bond between the first benzoxazine-4-one ring (A) and the phenylene bridging member, said variable bond being meta- or para- to the bond between the second benzoxazine-4-one ring (B) and the bridging member; wherein each R.sub.1 is independently hydrogen, halogen, nitro, C.sub.1-2 alkyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, carboxy, sulfonic acid, C.sub.1-3 alkylcarbonyl, benzoyl or C.sub.1-4 alkoxycarbonyl and; R.sub.2 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, methyl, C.sub.1-2 alkoxy, phenyl, hydroxy, nitro, carboxy or sulfonic acid.
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the production of resist prints on two-dimensional textile materials, which is characterized by the steps of impregnating with a water-repellent those parts of one side of a textile piece which are to be given a resist effect, drying said textile piece and dyeing the textile piece by applying an aqueous liquor to the reverse side.
Abstract: Dyeing of cellulosic substrates with reactive dyes in the presence of at least 20 g/l of sodium chloride, employing auxiliaries (E) of levelling activity, which are methylene-bridge-containing and sulpho-group-containing aromatic compounds, obtainable by condensation of defined sulphonation products with formaldehyde resp. formaldehyde-yielding compounds and optionally salt formation; (E)-contaning compositions that further contain at least one hydrotrope (H) and/or at least one sequestering agent (Q); and novel condensation products.
Abstract: A process for improving the removal of undesired substances from a cellulosic textile material comprisingi) treating the textile material with an aqueous solution comprisinga) citric acid,b) an alkali metal or ammonium salt of a gluconic acid, andc) optionally a mineral acid (preferably in a minor amount).
Abstract: Improvements in the etching of aluminum and aluminum alloys is obtained by etching the workpiece in a caustic etching bath in the presence of an anionic surfactant of the sulfate or sulfonate type. Satisfactory results are achieved with reduced amounts of dissolved aluminum.
Abstract: A process for the treatment of a textile material comprisinga) applying evenly a liquor solution (hereinafter referred to as "the liquor") for performing the treatment to the material in such a manner that the dry weight uptake of the solution at the end of this step is no more than 200%;b) then passing the material into a high frequency field of 10-50 MHz for 1 to 120 seconds; andc) optionally maintaining the material at the temperature that the material reaches in the high frequency field for up to 15 minutes (preferably 1-5 minutes).
Abstract: Fibre-reactive formazan compounds, salts thereof or free acid forms thereof according to formula (I) ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or --COOH, each of R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 is independently hydrogen, --COOH, --SO.sub.3 H, --NHCOCH.sub.3, --NHCOCHY.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 Y.sub.1, --NHCOCY.sub.2 .dbd.CH.sub.2 or --NHCOCH.sub.2 Y.sub.1,R.sub.3 is hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, --COOH or --SO.sub.3 H,Y.sub.1 is chlorine, bromine, --OSO.sub.3 H or --SSO.sub.3 H,Y.sub.2 is hydrogen, chlorine or bromine, andZ is ##STR2## The compounds are particularly useful in dyeing or printing hydroxy-group containing or nitrogen-containing organic substrates, including leather, fiber materials, and textiles.
