  • Patent number: 5763037
Abstract: A stamper for manufacturing a base of an optical disc where grooves having a track pitch of 1.6 .mu.m and width of 1.3 .mu.m or less are formed by using synthetic resin material includes a plurality of projections for forming grooves and a plurality of recessed portions. The plurality of projections have a flat upper portion and a pair of rising portions provided on the both sides of the upper surface portion. The plurality of recessed portions are formed so that bottom surfaces provided continuously to the rising portions of the respective projections become flat. In this case, when width dimension of the rising portion is .epsilon./2, width .epsilon./2 of the rising portion is given by the following expression:0.05 .mu.m.ltoreq..epsilon./2.ltoreq.0.15 .mu.

  • Patent number: 5761155
Abstract: In a method for determining the position of an object relative to the background with ultrasound, a plurality of ultrasound transducers arranged in a row simultaneously transmit ultrasound in line-shaped fashion in the direction of an object scene and receive both the echo of the signal transmitted by the transducer itself as well as the echoes of the signals generated by the neighboring ultrasound transducers. On the basis of a reference measurement wherein no object is located in the measurement region, the amplitudes and the times of incidence of the echo signals are stored. In the following measurements with an object, the echo amplitudes and the times of incidence of the echo signals are again stored and compared by fuzzy logic to those of the reference measurement. As a result, this supplies the position of the object relative to the background.

  • Patent number: 5758667
Abstract: A device for locating a port, facing the exterior of a patient, on a medical implant has at least one magnet and a detector arranged to sense magnetic fields. The magnet is associated with the implanted port and the detector is arranged to sense the magnetic field from the outside of the patient's body and, on the basis thereof, determine the location of the port. Alternatively, the detector is associated with the (implanted) port and the magnet is intended to be moved across the area above the detector on the exterior of the patient's body to then determine the location of the port from the magnetic field detected. The device can alternatively use a coil which is associated with the (implanted) port and a ferromagnetic element is moved on the exterior of the patient's body over the area above the coil. Changes in the inductance of the coil when the ferromagnetic means is moved are monitored and, therefrom, the position of the port is identified.
