Abstract: This invention has a principal object to eliminate, in a magnetic head and a method of manufacturing the same, the necessity of filling glass, etc. onto a magnetic film to thereby improve reliability of the magnetic head.This invention resides in a method of manufacturing a magnetic head including a pair of magnetic core half bodies opposite to each other, each of the magnetic core half bodies being such that a magnetic film is formed on a base, in which a thin film coil is formed at least at one surface of butting plane surfaces between these magnetic core half bodies, characterized in that, in forming the magnetic film on the base, recessed portions are formed in advance by ion milling, etc. at the base to form the magnetic film at the recessed portions.
Abstract: An electrophotographic printer device for both-sided printing of a tape-shaped, narrow recording medium (10) and for single-sided printing of a wide recording medium or a plurality of parallel, narrow recording media (10/1,10/2,10/3) contains a printer module that is designed for printing recording media differing in width. A delivery module and a turn-over module (28) are removably arranged in the printer module, the narrow recording medium (10) being turned over after the printing of the front side and being reconducted through the printer module for printing the back side via said delivery module and turn-over module.
Abstract: A dispenser for paste compositions is formed of a housing having an inside wall formed about a longitudinal axis for containing said compositions and being open at one end. A piston is arranged to move axially within the housing to urge the compositions towards the open end. A locking mechanism supports the piston within the housing against the inside wall and prevents the piston from moving in a direction opposite to a dispensing direction. A head part is arranged at the open end of the housing for displacement of a portion of the composition to be dispensed. A push button is arranged laterally next to the head part for pressing against and deflecting at least a part of the head part The head part has a centrally arranged closing valve formed with a valve body, the valve being opened and closed upon the activation of the push button. A connecting rod passes axially through the housing and is held by a holder positioned in a guide cylinder of the valve body with very little axial free play.
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for dismantling and reassembling projectiles which contain a plurality of safety-activatable bomblets in one or more cluster layers. The method and apparatus are particularly useful for disassembling bomblets from a projectile of a first caliber, and loading the bomblets into a projectile of a second caliber. In the first projectile having its casing and components disassembled uncovers an uppermost bomblet layer. The bomblet layer is seated against a first transport cover configured to correspond to a positional pattern for those bomblets of the projectile being disassembled. The bomblet layer is pneumatically held against the first transport cover. A bottom cover is detachably secured to the first transport cover under the bomblet layer, and the fuse of each bomblet is secured. This forms a safe container for moving the bomblets.
Abstract: A controlled deflection roll for forming a press with an opposed roll including an elongate tubular roll shell, an elongate support shaft extending longitudinally through the roll shell, and a fluid operated controllable load support means between the shaft and the shell, such as a piston with an open pressure hydrostatic oil interface facing the shell. The roll shell is constructed of a fabricated fiber reinforced matrix, and is comprised of a plurality of annular layers of fiber and matrix composite, so that the shell is of relatively light weight and has a reduced cross-machine bending stiffness.

Abstract: An electro-optical device such as an optical deflector comprising a ferro-electric substrate, electrodes provided on principal surfaces of this substrate and an inverted domain having a polygonal, e.g. triangular shape formed in the substrate, at least one of the domain walls of these domains being effectively perpendicular to the principal surfaces of the substrate, and a light beam passing through at least two of the domain walls, thus permitting fast random access, wide deflection angle and high resolution.
Abstract: When measuring speed over ground by means of microwave Doppler radar, signal noise, switching spikes and nearby reflectors reduce the measurement accuracy. In order to avoid these disadvantages, a reference signal which recurs with the period T.sub.0 and a target signal which follows the reference signal after a time interval T.sub.s are emitted via an antenna. That part of the reference signal which has already been received again during transmission of the target signal is subtracted from the target signal which is received later. The difference signal obtained in this way is a measurement signal from which interference spikes, signal noise and nearby reflectors have been largely removed.

Abstract: A control circuit generates a control signal which is of a low level during a certain period of time after the power supply of a solid state imager has been turned on or a power save mode thereof has been canceled, and of a high level after elapse of the period of time. Based on the control signal, a timing generator generates transfer clock signals having a high frequency than when the solid state imager is in a normal transfer mode, and applies the transfer clock signals to a CCD shift register to remove or transfer excessive invalid charges at a high rate therefrom. After the power supply has been turned on or the power save mode has been canceled, therefore, the time required to bring the solid state imager into a condition capable of imaging a subject is shortened.
Abstract: A recording and reproducing apparatus has a recording and/or reading head having a tip for recording and/or reproducing information on and/or from a recording medium. Information is recorded and/or erased by way of a polarization reversal or transport of electric charges in a predetermined area of the recording medium in response to application of a pulse voltage from the head. The information recorded in the predetermined area is detected as a change in the electric charges or an electrostatic capacitance or a surface potential or their differential in the predetermined area for reproducing the information.

Abstract: An adapter is providing for connecting a fluid source to any one of a variety of tubes, adapters or Y-ports having variously sized access ports. The adapter has a body having a channel extending between two ends thereof. Along an exterior of the body, increased diameter sections are provided. Some of the increased diameter sections are tapered forming barbs around the periphery of the adapter. A method is further provided for connecting a fluid source to a variety of variously sized tubes.
Abstract: A biodegradable scale inhibitor and dispersant is provided. The scale inhibitor includes a copolymer comprising at least one of N-oxygenatedhydrocarbonamide monomers and at least one of amino acid monomers. A method of reducing scale build-up on heating exchanger surfaces that come in contact with an industrial water is provided by adding a copolymer comprising at least one of N-oxygenatedhydrocarbonamide monomers and at least one of amino acid monomers to the water system such as cooling towers.
Abstract: The flat workpieces (W) are conveyed in the vertical position on a horizontal transport path through at least one processing cell (BZ) that contains a processing bath, vertical slots (S) for the passage of the workpieces (W) being provided in the end walls of the processing cell (BZ). Bars or rods which are arranged in pairs in the processing bath, such that they are loose in the vertical direction, are assigned in pairs to the slots (S) as seals (D) and are pressed by the liquid pressure against one another or against the workpiece (W) respectively passing through, and against the assigned end wall of the processing cell (BZ). Seals (D) having a circuilar cylindrical cross section rotate while the workpieces (W) are passing through. The seals (D) are preferably arranged in end chambers (SK) which are fitted at the ends to the processing cells.
Abstract: An electrode device which has a proximal end and distal end, contains of a number of thin, insulated electrical conductors each with a proximal end and a distal end, the conductors being equipped with implantable electrode contacts means which are electrically connected to the conductors. These contacts are designed to be brought into electrical contact with tissue in one or more cavities in a human body. Each conductor in the cable device is supported by a pre-shaped stiffening element which runs along and is connected to the conductor, made of an elastic polymer material, resorbable in vivo, which is biodegradable and biocompatible. The stiffening element imparts an arched shaped to the conductor, at least in the area in which its contact is located, to cause the contact to press against the adjacent cavity wall. The cable device also includes a longitudinal channel in which a stylet can be inserted for temporary, linear stretching of the cable device and the arched sections of its conductors.
Abstract: An easy open end for food and beverage cans having reduced aluminum content is provided in an end having a metal polymer metal laminate construction. An opening panel as defined in the end body by a pair of first and second spaced apart score lines disposed in the first and second major surfaces, respectively. Each of the first and second score lines define an area of reduced thickness for both the metal layer and the adjacent polymer layer. The opening panel can be displaced from the remainder of the end body to provide an easy opening can by perforating the end body at a point along the first and second score lines.
Abstract: In a method for enhancing the security of critical register data against manipulation, a number or a pointer that is allocated to a code word is loaded into a first non-volatile memory, and a code word is loaded into second non-volatile memories containing the critical data, whereby the code word is allocated to the last operating condition of the system, i.e. the code word has been selected on the basis of a pseudo-random sequence or as an outcome of the manufacture or a reloading of the system or before turn-off or before a voltage outage or before a standby before program interruption. A validity check of the code word is made at least at the time the system is turned on, and the old code word is replaced with a predetermined, new code word when the processor, after the validity check, recognizes the validity of the old code word with reference to the code word selected from a list with stored code words in its internal processor memory.
Abstract: A non-volatile semiconductor memory device including a plurality of non-volatile memory cells and a plurality of reference cells provided for corresponding to storage states in the non-volatile memory cell, generating a reference current which is a current between two output currents of at least two reference cells or a current proportional to the current when data reading from the non-volatile memory cell, and comparing the reference current and a current from the non-volatile memory cell to read out a data stored in the non-volatile memory cell.
Abstract: A multilayer optical disk having an information storage layer which can as well as be reproduced by a general-purpose reproducing apparatus, for example, a compact disk player, and from which information can be read from other information storage layers by using an exclusive reproducing apparatus. The multilayer optical disk having a plurality of information storage layers according to the present invention includes a plurality of information storage layers, wherein one of the plural information storage layers has a reflection factor of 70% or higher with respect to a wavelength of 770 nm to 830 nm which is a first wavelength of reproducing light, and other information storage layers are reproduced with reproducing light having a second wavelength which is different from the first wavelength of reproducing light. Each of the other information storage layers has a reflection factor of 20% or higher with respect to the second wavelength of reproducing light.
