  • Patent number: 7485626
Abstract: The invention comprises a process wherein the DNA synthesis and, thus, the proliferation of mononuclear cells (MNZ) and of T cells as well is inhibited by the simultaneous and combined inhibition of the enzyme activity (I) of alanyl aminopeptidase and of dipeptidyl peptidase IV; (II) of dipeptidyl peptidase IV and of the angiotensin-converting enzyme; (III) of dipeptidyl peptidase IV and of prolyl oligopeptidase; and (IV) of dipeptidyl peptidase IV and of X-Pro-aminopeptidase to an extent which cannot be achieved by an application of a single one of said enzyme inhibitors, even at a higher dosage. Although the said inhibitors exercise an influence on the very same process finally, i.e. the DNA synthesis and, thus, the proliferation of immune cells, this effect is not complete and is not long lasting when a single inhibitor is applied.

  • Patent number: 7482593
Abstract: A three-dimensional PET detector of a type having a scintillation crystal and first and second photosensitive detectors arranged one at each opposite end face of the crystal for detecting scintillation interactions within the crystal is calibrated to determine a depth-of-interaction (DOI) function thereof by irradiating the crystal to cause a predetermined distribution of interactions along a depth axis of the crystal, and applying probability theory to signal data collected by the two photosensitive detectors. The method provides a DOI function that indicates DOI position as a function of a signal ratio R obtained from the signal data.

  • Patent number: 7481767
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring intraocular pressure of an eye use an empirically derived function wherein an inward applanation pressure P1 and an outward applanation pressure P2 obtained during a corneal deformation cycle caused by a fluid pulse are separately weighted so as to minimize cornea-related influence on the intraocular pressure value calculated by the function. In one embodiment, the function is optimized, at least in part, to minimize change in calculated IOP between measurements made before surgical alteration of the cornea and measurements made after surgical alteration of the cornea.

  • Patent number: 7481022
Abstract: An insert for an insect control product comprising a first side and an oppositely facing second side; a first portion; a middle portion; a third portion, the middle portion being connected to the first portion and the third portion along fold lines. A formula applied on a coated region of the second side of the insert and dried, and the formula applied to a coated region of the first side of the insert and dried. The insert is folded in upon itself to take on a Z-shaped configuration or cross section, and slid into a box or housing to complete the insect control product. The insert is made by the process of placing the stamped insert on an assembly line and first coating a coated region of the second side with formula and then flipping the insert over and drying same. Then, the coated region of the first side of the insert is coated with formula, flipped over and dried.

  • Patent number: 7480093
Abstract: A surgical microscope system (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) having a display (7a-7e). Data essential for the surgical procedure, for example video images, are displayed in the observer's immediate field of view, thus making it unnecessary to turn one's head away from the surgical visual field. Because of its optical properties, the display (7a-7e) can also be attached, for example, on the curved exterior of the microscope body (2) or also on an X-Y coupling (6) that may be present. An rigid OLED display or a flexible OLED display is preferably used.

  • Patent number: 7475795
Abstract: A topping dispenser for dispensing portions of chilled topping onto beverages and desserts comprises a housing having a drawer that includes a product compartment and an adjacent drive compartment separated by a partition. The product compartment is adapted to receive a bag containing topping, and houses a vertically displaceable pressure member, such as a roller, to roll down along one side of the bag opposite a pressure surface on the other side of the bag to squeeze contents of the bag out through a bottom dispensing valve assembly to direct product into a waiting container. The roller is advanced downward in predetermined increments by a motor-driven carriage assembly in the drive compartment that may be actuated by a push button on the housing. The dispensing valve assembly holds a pressure-actuated valve that closes automatically to cleanly cut off a dispensed ribbon of topping and is configured to impart a decorative appearance to the dispensed ribbon.

  • Patent number: 7462455
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for identifying dogs which are genetically normal, heterozygous for, or homozygous for the mutation primarily responsible for Collie eye anomaly (CEA). The method comprises the steps of obtaining a biological sample from a dog and testing DNA in the biological sample for the presence or absence of a 7.8 kilobase deletion within chromosome 37 in which the CEA mutation is located. No deletion is indicative of a normal dog. A deletion on one allele of chromosome 37 is indicative of a dog that is heterozygous for the CEA mutation. A deletion in both alleles of chromosome 37 are indicative of a dog that is homozygous for the CEA mutation. Also provided is a kit for identifying a dog as normal, heterozygous for, or homozygous for the CEA mutation.

  • Patent number: 7461817
Abstract: A cargo parachute release apparatus comprising an assembly plate and a hinged member that is hinged to the assembly plate with a hinge pin. Parachute riser attachment components are positioned between the assembly plate and hinged member when the hinged member is in the closed position. An electronic package assembly having a microprocessor having predetermined parameters is provided, and the electronic package assembly has horizontal and vertical accelerometers and a strain gage for collecting data and sending the data to the microprocessor for processing. When the incoming data matches the predetermined parameters that indicate impact has been made, the microprocessor sends a firing signal to an electro-explosive device to detonate which causes the hinged member to open and release the parachute. The cargo is not dragged along the ground, tipped over or otherwise damaged.
