  • Patent number: 7171893
Abstract: A rotary press is supported on a frame allowing liquid and solid receivers to be placed underneath the rotary press. The rotary press has an outer ring and an inner drum. The inner drum has an upper and lower flange with a stripper ring retained between these flanges. The flanges form two sides of the cavity where the pressing takes place. The flanges carry the solids away from the pressing zone to a discharge zone where the stripper ring expels the solids. By transporting the solids away from the pressing zone where liquids are expelled, reabsorption of the liquid is avoided. The stripper ring can move relative to the two flanges and is biased against the outer ring by the inner ring. The stripper ring applies pressure to the material to be processed and also pushes solid material from between the upper and lower flanges to fall into a receiver for the solids.

  • Patent number: 7166833
Abstract: A system and method for determining the absolute position of a linear or rotary actuator. A code plate having a series of digital words thereon is associated with the linear or rotary actuator. Each of the digital words consists of a plurality of bits, each bit consisting of a series of parallel encoder elements, each in the shape of a wedge. One or two optical sensor heads would be used in conjunction with a signal processor to determine the exact position of the code plate, and, in turn, the linear or rotary actuator. The exact position of each of the sensor heads with respect to the code plate is determined based upon the value of optical signals reflected off of the wedge-shaped elements and detected by each of the optical sensors.

  • Patent number: 7159510
Abstract: A jerky dehydrator comprises several baskets for receiving and retaining the product to be dehydrated and a racking grid for retaining several baskets in a vertical orientation. The racking grid is inserted into a metal tray, and the tray is inserted into the oven of a household range. The oven is preheated, prior to inserting the tray and its contents. Subsequently, the oven is maintained at a low temperature, about 200°, and the door of the oven is held open, slightly, to allow moisture to escape. Each basket comprises a first grate and a second grate, retained in pivotal relation by a pair of hinge clips. Tension springs, secured to an anchor on one grate and an extension on the other grate, urge the grates togther to form a basket and retain the jerky therebetween during the dehydration process. Receptacles at the trailing edge of one grate slip over upstanding pins on the racking grid and lock each basket in its vertical orientation.

  • Patent number: 7147621
Abstract: A single use syringe uses a “pinching” action between a specially designed plunger and a specially designed needle holder to shoot the needle back into the syringe body upon completion of the piston stroke. The needle is not biased by a helical spring and the syringe remains in an unbiased condition until the plunger is pushed against the needle holder that creates the pinching action to shoot the needle back into the syringe body.

  • Patent number: 7143310
Abstract: A testing harness for a design-under-test is modified to include a standalone implementation of an application programming interface used in developing the design-under-test. The standalone implementation is adapted to a target device, and is packaged with an executable application or MIDlet, together with any needed resource files. Either the package, or optionally a JAR and JAD file, is downloaded to a remote user for execution on the target device. Using the application programming interface and the other downloaded files, the remote user can test the target device, analyze the results, and even modify the test conditions without recourse to the testing harness. The arrangement provides a capability for a party who is not privileged to know details of the testing harness to practically evaluate and modify the design-under-test using a standalone testing application.
