Abstract: A unitary blow-molded hand-held plastic container having improved pouring capability without requiring separate pour spouts is disclosed. The neck has a pair of opposed panels that are pinched inwardly below the finish of the container to afford precise control during pouring.
Abstract: A manually adjustable outboard motor mount comprises two brackets one attachable to a boat transom and one to which an outboard motor can be attached. The motor bracket is constrained to movement in a straight, substantially vertical path relative to the transom bracket by the cooperation of rods on one bracket with spaced bearings in sleeves on the other bracket. The motor bracket is adjusted vertically by a shaft threaded into the transom bracket and rotatable in a combined thrust and journal bearing in the motor bracket. A nut on the threads of the shaft can be tightened against a plate of the transom bracket to lock the motor bracket against vertical movement. The nut has three radial arms disposed at 120 degree angles relative to one another to allow convenient manual tightening.

Abstract: Protective and therapeutic vaccines are disclosed. Vaccines for preventing or treating herpes simplex virus infection are disclosed. Methods for preventing herpes simplex virus infection and treating individuals who have been infected with herpes simplex virus and to compositions for and methods of making prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines for herpes simplex virus are disclosed.
Abstract: Methyl nicotinate, when swabbed onto the skin prior to the application of therapeutic ultrasound, produces a surprising enhancement of the effect of the ultrasound treatment, making it possible to use less power and to apply the ultrasound over a shorter interval, and requiring no significant waiting time for the nicotinic acid ester to take effect.
Abstract: This invention relates to a fermentation process for high-yield production of plasmid DNA in E coli strains. In the disclosed process, a slow growth rate of cells is controlled and maintained by an automated nutrient feed scheme based on dissolved oxygen concentration (DOC) and pH. This controlled slow growth rate promotes high plasmid DNA stability during host cell replication. As a result, high yield production of plasmid DNA is achieved.
Abstract: An acoustic guitar having a resin laminate soundboard with a bracing pattern specifically configured to provide the non-wooden soundboard with qualitites resembling traditional wooden soundboards. The soundboard is made from a relatively inexpensive resin laminate material in order to reduce the manufacturing cost of the acoustic guitar. The bracing pattern located on the underside of the soundboard stiffens the non-wooden soundboard at particular locations in order to permit a required degree of vibration for acoustic purposes while preventing damaging flexure caused by the forces of the tensioned guitar strings.
Abstract: A blow-molded plastic container manufactured from a homogenous mixture of a plastic resin, a calcium carbonate filler, and a blowing agent in specified amounts. The filler reduces the overall material costs, and the blowing agent reduces the specific gravity of the mixture to enable the container to be recycled utilizing existing floatation tank recycling equipment.
Abstract: A method for producing polybenzimidazole (PBI) paste or gel useful in a fuel cell, mixing PBI polymer with a suitable amount of an acid, which permits the polymer to dissolve and form a matrix having a gel-like or paste-like consistency at room temperature.

Abstract: A mobile rig for angle drilling comprises a tiltable drilling mast and a drill pipe storage rack both mounted on a land vehicle, with a carriage movable lengthwise on a track extending alongside the mast. When the mast is in an oblique position for angle drilling, an articulating arm on the carriage retrieves drill pipes individually from the pipe storage rack, swings them to a position above the mast and lowers them into alignment with a drilling head. The storage rack is moved longitudinally as the drill pipe supply is depleted so that the arm can grasp each drill pipes close to its center of gravity. In an alternative embodiment, one of the elements of the articulating arm is extensible.
Abstract: Containerized medical waste is treated by shredding, and then passing the shredded material, by means of a screw conveyor, through a direct steam impingement stage and a dehydration stage in which the material is brought into contact with a hot surface to vaporize moisture and thereafter passed through a low pressure chamber in which the vapor is drawn off.
Abstract: A writing instrument having a sanitary moistener comprises an elongated body having a writing tip at one end and a supply of moistening liquid accessible at a location on the body of the instrument by a finger of an individual using the instrument, in order to moisten the finger to facilitate turning sheets of paper. The moistening liquid is supplied in a reservoir and delivered by a pump, or through a finger-operated valve. Alternatively, the moistening liquid is supplied in a liquid retaining porous medium having a part which can be exposed through an opening in the body of the instrument. In one embodiment, the liquid-retaining medium is accessible at the end of the instrument opposite to the writing tip. In two embodiments, the liquid-retaining moistener has conical passages receiving the ink cartridge and a side projection received in an open-ended slot in one of two parts constituting the body of the instrument.
Abstract: In a novel hovering aircraft, an airfoil blade structure rotatable about a vertical axis comprises a set of upper blades and a set of lower blades, all having variable lift, the upper blades converging toward the lower blades from root to tip. Struts, located inboard of the blade tips, keep the tips of the upper and lower blades separate from each other to reduce interference effects, and also support motors and propellers.
Abstract: A blow-molded plastic container and a separately formed injection-molded plastic handle adapted to be ultrasonically welded together. A pattern of energy directors is located on one of the confronting welding areas of the handle and the container sidewall. The handle has an elongate grip defining a grip centerline and the energy directors are located on both sides of the grip centerline adjacent opposite ends of the elongate grip.

Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for efficiently achieving a homogeneous mixture of fluid components by introducing said components having a Reynolds number of between about .ltoreq.1 to about 500 into a vessel and continuously perturbing the mixing flow by altering the flow speed and mixing time until homogeniety is reached. This method prevents the components from aggregating into non-homogeneous segregated regions within said vessel during mixing and substantially reduces the time the admixed components reach homogeneity.

Abstract: A lightweight blow-molded plastic container providing enhanced top loading capability. The container is rectangular in elevation and plan, and has four vertically extending post corners at the juncture of front, back and side walls. The front and back walls have label mounting areas defined by upper and lower label bumpers. The bumpers extend horizontally and terminate a spaced distance from the side walls, thus allowing the vertical corners of the container to extend uninterrupted and provide maximum post strength to the container. The configuration is capable of being made from a reduced amount of plastic, yet provides enhanced top loading capability as compared with like-sized known container configurations.
Abstract: A blow-molded plastic container having a separately formed and permanently attached handle. The container has a blow-molded body portion with an inwardly set recess. An elongate plastic handle is attached to the sidewall of the container such that it spans across the recess in spaced relation. The handle has a grip portion and opposite ends which are secured to the body portion by welding techniques. The recess has a vacuum flex panel to accommodate changes resulting from hot-fill processing.
Abstract: A process for drying flammable cellulosic materials such as wood strands t involves maintaining the temperature and humidity of the drying medium above predetermined values to obtain certain stated advantages.
