Abstract: In a hydraulic tensioner having a coiled plunger-biasing spring, the volume of the high pressure oil chamber is reduced by incorporating a bar inside the spring. One of both ends of the spring are formed to block passage of the bar, so that the bar and spring can be installed as a pre-assembled unit, and dropping of the bar out of the spring can be avoided.
Abstract: Proposed is a method for collecting valuable metal from an ITO scrap including the steps of subjecting the ITO scrap to electrolysis and collecting the result as indium-tin alloy. Additionally provided is a method for collecting valuable metal from an ITO scrap including the steps of providing an ITO electrolytic bath and an indium-tin alloy collecting bath, dissolving the ITO in the electrolytic bath, and thereafter collecting indium-tin alloy in the indium-tin alloy collecting bath. These methods enable the efficient collection of indium-tin alloy from an ITO scrap of an indium-tin oxide (ITO) sputtering target or an ITO scrap such as ITO mill ends arisen during the manufacture of such ITO sputtering target.

Abstract: Proposed is a method for collecting valuable metal from an ITO scrap including the steps of subjecting the ITO scrap to electrolysis in pH-adjusted electrolyte, and collecting indium or tin as oxides. Additionally proposed is a method for collecting valuable metal from an ITO scrap including the steps of subjecting the ITO scrap to electrolysis in an electrolytic bath partitioned with a diaphragm or an ion-exchange membrane to precipitate hydroxide of tin, thereafter extracting anolyte temporarily, and precipitating and collecting indium contained in the anolyte as hydroxide. With the methods for collecting valuable metal from an ITO scrap described above, indium or tin may be collected as oxides by roasting the precipitate containing indium or tin. Consequently, provided is a method for efficiently collecting indium from an ITO scrap of an indium-tin oxide (ITO) sputtering target or an ITO scrap such as ITO mill ends arisen during the manufacture of such ITO sputtering target.

Abstract: Runway length requirement for take-off and landing of an aircraft is reduced by taking advantage of dynamic lift overshoot, and in some cases, dynamic stall. In take-off and landing, the angle of attack is rapidly increased so that the lift coefficient exceeds the maximum predicted by the steady flow lift curve. By increasing the angle of attack at an appropriate rate, the increased lift coefficient can be maintained, without loss of control, until the aircraft touches down in the case of a landing, or until the aircraft can begin a normal climb, in the case of take-off. A low aspect ratio lifting body is preferred because of its more gradual stall behavior, and the potential to use dynamic stall for further deceleration before touchdown. Vortex fences can be oscillated to delay the onset of stall, and, in cruise, to energize the boundary-layer and reduce drag and/or control roll and/or yaw.
Abstract: On-site binding for carpets and the like wherein a covered welting material is provided with a strip with adhesive on both sides. One side is covered with peel-off wax paper which is removed to adhere the welting material flush against the edge of the carpet's pile. The adhesive underside of the paper has an extension of the welting material adhered thereto. A thermal plastic glue is applied between the carpet pile and welting material whereby the welting material binding is secured the carpet by the underlying strip (with adhesive on both sides) and the thermal plastic bead.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for producing ultra clean liquid fuel from abandoned mine waste. A feedstock is prepared from water and coal mine waste having relatively high ash (non-carbonaceous matter) content. Foundry slag is added to the feedstock as a fluxant to adjust the melting behavior of the ash in the feedstock. Preferably, the fluxant is blast furnace slag provided in a particle size of less than about 150 ?m and is provided in an amount sufficient to lower the melting point of the ash in the feedstock by at least about 200° F. The feedstock is admitted with a flow of oxygen into a pressurized chamber of an entrained flow gasifier in which the feedstock and oxygen are heated to produce a synthetic gas from a coal component of the feedstock and molten slag from the ash and fluxant components of the feedstock. The molten slag is of a viscosity to freely flow out of the gasifier through an exit port in the bottom of the gasifier.
Abstract: A surface machining method for obtaining a planar material of a uniform thickness is provided. This method includes mounting a planar material on a surface plate, setting the coordinate axis in the plane direction of the planar material to X, Y, and setting the coordinate axis in the height direction to Z, virtualizing an XY plane including an origin of the Z direction measured as a distance Z(m,n) from the coordinates (Xm, Yn) of a virtual plane ABCD to the plate thickness center plane S composed of midpoints of segments connecting an upper surface and a lower surface of the planar material, measuring the distance in the Z direction of the plate thickness center plane from the origin in an arbitrary XY plane position, and tilting and cutting the planar material so that the difference between maximum and minimum value of the obtained height data will be minimum.
Abstract: To control initial shudder in a wet paper friction plate, the frictional sliding surface of a wet paper friction member is preconditioned by frictional sliding contact with a mating plate until its bearing length ratio tp at a cutting depth of 10 ?m is in the range from 70 to 85%. The preconditioning is optionally preceded by grinding, preferably before the wet paper friction member is attached to a base plate.

Abstract: A chain guide is composed of a resin shoe engageable with an aluminum base frame. The shoe has a hook formed at a chain entry end for engagement with a chain entry end of the base frame, and a C-shaped hook at the chain exit end engageable with a side edge of the base frame. The shoe is engaged with the base by first engaging the C-shaped hook with the side edge of the base frame, then flexing the chain entry end of the shoe until the hook at the chain entry end can receive the chain entry end of the base. The shoe is moved a short distance toward the chain exit end of the base until a projection formed on a back surface of the shoe near the chain entry end snaps into a depression formed on a front surface of the base frame, locking the shoe and base together.
