Abstract: Provided is a copper foil for a printed circuit board comprising a layer including nickel, zinc, a compound of nickel and that of zinc (hereinafter referred to a “nickel zinc layer”) on a roughened surface of a copper foil, and a chromate film layer on the nickel zinc layer, wherein the zinc add-on weight per unit area of the nickel zinc layer is 180 ?g/dm2 or more and 3500 ?g/dm2 or less, and the nickel weight ratio in the nickel zinc layer {nickel add-on weight/(nickel add-on weight+zinc add-on weight)} is 0.38 or more and 0.7 or less. This surface treatment technology of a copper foil is able to effectively prevent the circuit corrosion phenomenon in cases of laminating a copper foil on a resin base material and using a sulfuric acid hydrogen peroxide etching solution to perform soft etching to the circuit.

Abstract: A convenient preparation of boron-containing compounds, borate salts, pyrrolecarbonitrile boron-containing compounds, N-substituted-pyrrole-2-carbonitrile boron-containing compounds, and derivatives thereof is provided. The present invention also provides for the use of these boron-containing compounds and derivatives thereof in coupling reactions to provide bi-aryl compounds.

Abstract: A moisture wicking fabric has one side comprised substantially entirely of inherently hydrophobic fibers such as polyester or polypropylene and the other side comprised of a mixture of hydrophobic fibers such as polyester or polypropylene and hydrophilic fibers, particularly cellulosic fibers such as cotton, lyocell and viscose rayon. A garment can be formed from such a moisture wicking fabric, for example by the whole garment knitting method, the side comprised of the mixture of fibers being the external side of the garment.
Abstract: In one aspect, the present invention provides isolated novel peptides that can be used to modulate innate immunity in a subject, and/or for the treatment of an immune-related disorder, including treating and preventing infection by modulating innate immunity. Also provided are an agent reactive with this peptide, a pharmaceutical composition that includes the peptide, an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding the peptide, a recombinant nucleic acid construct that includes the nucleic acid molecule, at least one host cell comprising the recombinant nucleic acid construct, and a method of producing the peptide using the host cell. The present invention further provides a method for treating and/or preventing infection in a subject by administering the peptide of the invention to the subject, thereby modulating innate immunity in the subject. Additionally, the present invention provides a method for predicting whether a subject would be responsive to treatment with a peptide of the invention.

Abstract: Proposed is a sintered sputtering target containing two or more types of refractory metals. In particular, proposed is a sintered sputtering target of refractory metals that is able to improve the target structure to prevent the dropout of metal particles other than the matrix-forming major component, improve the deposition quality as well as the workability of the target by reducing impurities such as gas components, enhancing the density and eliminating the generation of arcing and particles in sputtering. This sintered sputtering target of refractory metals is composed of one or more types of minor components selected from W, Ta and Hf at less than 50 at % as well as at least one or more major components selected from Ru, Rh and Ir and inevitable impurities as the remainder. The metal structure of the major component comprises a granular minor component metal phase, or an alloy phase or a compound phase of the major and the minor component having an average grain size of 100 ?m to 500 ?m.
Abstract: A sprocket for a chain drive using a roller or bushing chain has a plurality of different pitch angles, including both pitch angles larger than the standard pitch angle, and pitch angles smaller than the standard pitch angle. The number of pitch angles in the sprocket larger than the standard pitch angle is greater than the number of pitch angles in the sprocket smaller than the standard pitch angle. The sprocket teeth are integrally molded with the sprocket by sintering.

Abstract: Provided are a nickel alloy sputtering target, and a nickel silicide film formed with such a target, enabling the formation of a thermally stable silicide (NiSi) film, scarcely causing the aggregation of films or excessive formation of silicides, having low generation of particles upon forming the sputtered film, having favorable uniformity and superior plastic workability to the target, and which is particularly effective for the manufacture of a gate electrode material (thin film). This nickel alloy sputtering target contains 22 to 46 wt % of platinum and 5 to 100 wtppm of one or more components selected from iridium, palladium, and ruthenium, and remainder is nickel and inevitable impurities.
Abstract: A convenient way of inducing a broad recognition of dominant and subdominant responses to epitopes of any given antigen of importance for prophylaxis or treatment of a chronic disease is provided. The method involves by immunizing with pools of overlapping fragments (synthetic peptides, e.g., 10-30 mers with 2-20 aa overlap) of the desired antigen in appropriate adjuvants. The T cell repertoire is primed to include not only the immunodominant epitope recognized when the intact molecule is used for immunization and induced by the chronic infection itself, but induce a much broader and balanced response to a number of the subdominant epitopes as well. The vaccination with peptide mix induces a T-cell response that includes response to subdominant epitopes is important for protection against chronic disease that on their own induces a response focused only on immunodominant epitopes.

Abstract: In a spring-loaded tensioner lever having a coiled torsion spring accommodated in a space inside the lever, a stopper mechanism, comprising a pin held removably in a hole in the lever, holds an arm of the torsion spring against movement in the unwinding direction while the lever, or the chain, is being mounted on a mounting surface. Abstract: In a chain transmission, the guide-contacting portions of inner and outer plates of a chain each comprise a pair of front and rear flat surfaces, an intermediate concave oil-retaining surface and convex connecting surfaces. The lengths of the flat surfaces are such that adjacent flat surfaces of overlapping inner and outer plates overlap even when the plates in contact with the portion of a convex guide surface having the smallest radius of curvature.
Abstract: A portable laser source includes a flash lamp assembly defining a hollow central channel, an elongate laser rod extending within the hollow channel for receiving a flash of light emitted by the surrounding flash lamp assembly, and a hermetically-sealed enclosure housing both the flash lamp assembly and the laser rod and including at least one optical transmission window for transmitting a laser beam emitted by the laser rod. Preferably, the flash lamp assembly is hermetically-sealed from the laser rod within the enclosure to maintain physical and electrical isolation of the laser rod from combustible and electrically conductive components of the flash lamp assembly. The combustible component of the flash lamp assembly can include Zr wool and an accelerant, or like materials for emitting a flash of light. The laser source can include a second window used to test the condition of the laser rod via application of an external test light to activate the laser rod within the sealed enclosure.
