  • Patent number: 5840589
Abstract: A method is described for growing a single crystal having three-dimensional (3-D) doping patterns created within it during growth while maintaining a plane growth surface, creating junction-isolated devices and interconnections, forming a 3-D integrated circuit (IC). The crystal is grown as a large number of lightly-doped layers in a single-pumpdown procedure using sputter epitaxy, which offers growth rates for good-quality silicon of at least 0.1 micrometer per minute. The process experiences a stable environment with temperature remaining around 400 C and pressure near 1 millitorr, and the process is "quasicontinuous" in that once each layer is in place, its surface will experience a short series of further steps that create a 2-D doping pattern extending through the layer. It is the merging of many such successive 2-D patterns that creates the desired 3-D doping pattern within the finished silicon crystal.

  • Patent number: 5826667
Abstract: A powered lawn edger which is steerable by a walking operator in the manner of a wheelbarrow. The edger has a Y-shaped frame including a pair of handles each with handlegrips. A power unit is mounted on the frame between the handlegrips and a ground engaging wheel. A cutting blade is rotatable about an output shaft of a gear box which is powered from the power unit via a centrifugal clutch having a brake. A debris deflector is mounted on the axle of the wheel. An adjustment mechanism is provided to adjust the height of the cutting blade relative to the ground. The height of the debris deflector relative to the ground remains unchanged when the height of the cutting blade is adjusted.

  • Patent number: 5823293
Abstract: Wheel assemblies including bearings for inline skates and skateboards with provision for lubricating. In one embodiment, a wheel is supported by the bearings which are in turn supported by an axle/spacer having a central chamber and at least one port extending therethrough to the inner surfaces of the bearings. Screws secure the axle/spacer to wheel supports of an inline skate or skateboard. At least one of the screws includes an interior passageway to accommodate a nozzle for introducing lubricant and/or cleaner under pressure to the central chamber from which it passes through the port or ports in the axle/spacer to the inner surfaces of the bearings. In another embodiment, a wheel includes a hub which is supported by the bearings which in turn are supported by an axle/spacer. The hub has at least one port extending therethrough from the outside to the inner surfaces of the bearings for the introduction of lubricant and/or cleaner under pressure.

  • Patent number: 5809738
Abstract: A high speed multiple conveyor packaging system having product separating bars that separate a product into specific sized groups on moving opposing conveyors. Two product streams diverge to meet the separating bars, and subsequently reconverge after separation for loading into a carton or package. Separated conveyed product is channeled from opposing conveyors into another conveyed product carton from opposing carton ends. A tight package is formed by sets of formed guide bars which cause the package flaps to be stretched or formed to the position of maximum tightness about the product.

  • Patent number: 5797811
Abstract: A juggling stick including on each end an end piece with symmetrical air foil side wings of a closed cell foam or like material, such as leather, layered fabrics or inflatable rubber and rubber-like materials. The closed cell foam is intended to be mounted with grommets or other fastening device and secured to each end of the juggling stick. The closed cell foam can be coated with a liquid plastic and even splatter coated, all of non-toxic material. Each end piece includes at least three symmetrical air foil side wings with locking tabs to engage through a hole of the next air foil side wing. The air foils cut through the air with the wings catching the air and slowing the action or play of the juggling stick down for complex moves, even to the point of causing a slower negative flowtation for a change of direction depending upon the particular juggling maneuvers. Tassels can be applied to each end of the juggling stick for artistic decoration.
