Abstract: A radial flow electrofilter having a plurality of parallel planar horizontal electrodes. The filter may be provided with backflush means, in which case the filter medium preferably consists of non-deformable particles, or else a removable filter pack, preferably employing polyurethane foam, may be employed. In operation, finely divided solids, contained in a liquid of low electrical conductivity, may be efficiently removed by passing the liquid radially through the filter, while subjected to a unidirectional current electric field, from the periphery of the filter toward its center.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process of preparing stable suspensions of Mg(OH).sub.2 which comprises blending Mg(OH).sub.2 powder with acid in a surfactant-containing fluid to effect particle size reduction of the starting Mg(OH).sub.2 powder. In practice, the mole-fraction of acid employed is less than 50% of that stoichiometrically necessary for the formation of the magnesium salt.
Abstract: This invention relates to alkylated derivatives of polymerized aromatic nitrogen heterocyclic compounds as illustrated by polymerized pyridine, quinoline and derivatives thereof; and uses thereof. These compositions are polymerized by treating said aromatic nitrogen heterocyclic compounds at elevated temperatures and pressures with catalytic amounts of alkyl halides and then alkylating the polymerized products formed.
Abstract: This invention relates to a stable, fluid magnesium oxide-containing dispersion prepared by the thermal treatment of MgO powder in a non-volatile fluid in the presence of a stoichiometric or lesser amount of a carboxylic acid as illustrated by acetic acid.

Abstract: This invention relates to the following compounds: ##STR1## Process for their preparation and uses thereof, where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are substituted groups, and R.sub.6, R.sub.5, R.sub.4 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen or substituted groups.
Abstract: A composition useful in lamination, the process of applying this composition, and the resulting laminated structure. This composition comprises (1) a microcrystalline-type wax, for example melting from about 140.degree.-200.degree. F. (2) a resin, for example petroleum polymer resins, terpene polymer resins, rosin and rosin esters, having a molecular weight of about 800 to 2,000 and (3) atactic polypropylene. The composition comprises about 20-40% of atactic polypropylene; about 10-25% of polymer resin; the balance (30-70%) being microcrystalline wax. This composition is applied and the plys joined together at a temperature above about 225.degree. F. to yield a laminated structure having optimum properties, particularly excellent hot peeling strength.
Abstract: This invention relates to tertiary aminosubstituted thiazines; the process of preparing such thiazines; and uses thereof, for example, as corrosion inhibitors, microbiocides, etc.
Abstract: This invention relates to quaternaries of tertiary amino-substituted thiazines; the process of preparing such quaternary thiazines; and uses thereof, for example, as corrosion inhibitors, microbiocides, etc.
Abstract: This invention relates to polymerized aromatic nitrogen heterocyclic compounds as illustrated by compounds containing nitrogen heterocyclic rings and uses thereof.Polymerization is effected by treating said aromatic nitrogen heterocyclic compounds at elevated temperatures and pressures with catalytic amounts of alkyl halides.
Abstract: This invention relates to hydroxyalkylaminoalkylamides, the N-alkylated derivatives thereof, and the preparation and uses thereof. This invention also relates to quaternaries of the above-mentioned hydroxyalkylaminoalkylamides.
Abstract: A radial flow electrofilter having a vertical cylindrical fluid distributor means adapted to serve as a grounded electrode, a vertical central tubular collector also adapted to serve as an electrode and at least one, preferably a plural odd number, of permeable cylindrical electrodes concentrically positioned between the distributor and the collector. The filter medium preferably consists of non-deformable particles, the filter being provided with backflushing means. In operation, finely divided solids, contained in a liquid of low conductivity, may be efficiently removed by passing the liquid radially through the filter, while subjected to a unidirectional current electric field, from the periphery of the filter toward its center.

Abstract: This invention relates to liquid poly(alpha-olefins) in wax solutions or emulsions which when applied to surfaces (such as by way of illustration and not of limitation vinyl, leather, rubber, elastomers, natural and synthetic polymers, sealed and finished wood, painted or enameled metal such as automobile finishes, etc.) are capable of cleaning, preserving, renewing, restoring and improving the appearance, etc., thereof so as to yield a high gloss finish which is durable and has high resistance to water and detergent wash-off. The preferred embodiment contains the liquid poly(alpha-olefins) in conjunction with silicones and most preferably with metal salts such as zinc salts.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process of treating hydrated chromium oxides with aqueous base(s) in the presence of dispersing agent(s) to form upon dehydration a virtually sediment-free oil solution and/or dispersion of hydrated chromium oxide in amounts up to about 20% chromium content. The product formed is a stable, bright, fluid oil-soluble and/or oil-dispersible hydrated chromium oxide upon filtration or centrifugation to remove minimal sediment.

Abstract: A simultaneously compacted, shaped, molded and unitized, self-contained, unit-integral, chew-resistant animal food system product containing animal food and structure-supporting fibers, preferably in a fibrous form, in an amount sufficient to make said product chew-resistant, self-contained and unit-integral and to enable it to be and remain in its compacted, shaped and molded form. The product contains sufficient structure-supporting fibers to yield a chew-resistant product. The structure-supporting fibers are animal safely digestible structure-supporting fibers, such as collagen, animal safely indigestible structure-supporting fibers, such as cellulosic materials, or a mixture of animal safely digestible structure-supporting fibers and animal safely indigestible structure-supporting fibers, such as a mixture of collagen and cellulosic materials.
