  • Patent number: 7610286
Abstract: A method and computer program product for securely uploading and downloading data from a client to a remote data storage location under control of a remote application program. The data is stored in encrypted form so that the data server has no access to the data. The data is associated with a bill of material (BOM) and may be accessed by users without providing access to the data space of the client. Also disclosed is a method and computer program so automatically assign access privileges to one or more users of data in a bill of material stored in a shared database such that the step of refining a role for the user for a data item automatically assigns access privileges for the user for the data and other related data items. Also described is linking BOMs to provide peer-to-peer access and views to different users. Also described is a method and software program that provides of propagation of data through the supply chain via one or more bills of materials.

  • Patent number: 7602846
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transporting a video program in compressed form from a source location to a second location. The method comprises receiving at an intermediate location a first compressed version of the video program using a first compression method, transported from the source location to an intermediate location over a first segment that includes a link of a first type. The method further comprises transcoding the first compressed version to a second compressed version compressed using a second compression method that is in relatively widespread use. The method further comprises sending the second compressed version to the second location over a link of a second type. • Patent number: 7599088
Abstract: Planar substrates are printed, cut, and folded to form three-dimensional cartons. Given graphics intended to appear on a carton surface or panel, printed graphics are laid-out and automatically positioned and manipulated using structural information associated with the cartons. Preferably a single computer-generated graphics file is created for use in printing the various panels and flaps. The graphics design can be overlaid on a computer image of the substrate, and graphic portions can be rotated, scaled, and aligned to properly fit printing areas on what will be panels and flaps (after cutting occurs). A computer generated three-dimensional image of the carton showing graphics printed on the panels and flaps can be manipulated by a graphics artist to confirm accuracy of the graphic file data before actual printing occurs.

  • Patent number: 7567544
Abstract: A method and apparatus for synchronizing a local clock value in a wireless receiver receiving a data unit containing synchronization information. The method includes receiving a first data unit containing synchronization information, extracting the synchronization information from the received first data unit, copying a local free-running clock at a known reference point in time relative to the time the first data unit was received to generate a local timestamp; and calculating an offset to the free-running clock using the extracted synchronization information and the local timestamp, the calculating in non real-time, such that the sum of the calculated offset and the value of the free-running clock provides a local clock value that is approximately synchronized in time. The apparatus implementing the method is part of a node of a wireless station, and provides a time synchronization function, typically at the MAC layer.

  • Patent number: 7558793
Abstract: A method of storing and managing BOMs of different owners in the same environment. One or more BOMs have an owner. An owner's BOM includes may include confidential information such that unrestricted access to the confidential information is limited to the owner and any designates of the owner. In particular, one embodiment of the invention and maintains a list of items that include the items in the BOMs of the different owners. A unique identifier is used for each item of the list. The item identifiers thus form one namespace. BOMs of different owners share data including confidential data within the same namespace.

  • Patent number: 7551578
Abstract: A medium access contention protocol that is highly beneficial in wireless networks and particularly in wireless networks that employ a fixed minimum burst size such as OFDM wireless networks. In one embodiment, a MAC protocol is a demand-assigned protocol that maximizes utilization of the bus medium (the allocated frequency spectrum.) Each data communication device (DCD) in the network communicates with a central access point (AP). Multiple DCDs may request access from the AP in the same request access (RA) burst. Each of the multiple DCDs transmits its access request to the AP within a frequency domain channel in the RA burst that is orthogonal to the frequency domain channels used by the other DCDs requesting access. Each DCD includes channel training information in the access request burst to allow the AP and/or DCD to adapt to rapid variations in channel characteristics.

  • Patent number: 7548534
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a self-correcting bandwidth request/grant protocol in a broadband wireless communication system is disclosed. The self-correcting bandwidth request/grant protocol utilizes a combination of incremental and aggregate bandwidth requests. In accordance with the present inventive protocol, CPEs primarily transmit incremental bandwidth requests to their associated base stations, followed by periodic transmissions of aggregate bandwidth requests. The use of incremental bandwidth requests reduces risks that a base station erroneously issues duplicate bandwidth allocations to the same CPE for the same connection. Race conditions that may have occurred using only aggregate bandwidth requests are eliminated by requiring the CPEs to request bandwidth in an incremental manner. However, use of periodic aggregate bandwidth requests (that express the current state of their respective connection queues) allows the present bandwidth allocation method and apparatus to be “self-correcting.
