  • Patent number: 4319583
Abstract: An animal birth detector is described comprising apparatus attached in the proximity of the animal's vulva for detecting the birth of the animal fetus by monitoring the size of the vulva during the period prior to and during delivery of the fetus. More specifically, the animal birth detector comprises a transmitter attached to the skin proximate one side of the animal's vulva, the transmitter utilizing a reed relay switch to sense the proximity of a permanent magnet located on the opposite side of the vulva. As the vulva dilates at time of delivery of the animal fetus, the magnet is moved out of the magnetic field sensing area of the reed switch, turning on the transmitter whose transmissions are received by a receiver monitored by the stockman. The transmitter and magnet are held in place on the animal's rear section by an adhesive coated or sutured vinyl holding pad.

  • Patent number: 4274263
Abstract: A continuously refrigerated, automatically ejected block ice machine having means to measure and supply a specified amount of water to a water distributor which appropriately directs each measured amount of water to each of a plurality of product cells in which the ice is formed, the product cells, being an integral part of the evaporator of a refrigeration system. The water which is permitted to enter the bottom of the product cell forcing up the frozen block of ice where it is harvested. Upon the completion of the water entering the product cell, means are provided to remove water proximate the cell to prevent freezing. The operation is automated through each of the product cells, each cell filled with new water and ejecting the frozen ice block, the new water permitted to be frozen and the operation repeated.

  • Patent number: 4261386
Abstract: A sewer relief valve for placement in an existing sewer line connecting a residence or other facility generating sewage and the sewage collection system, the valve comprising connection means adapted to connect into a sewer line, an adapter means in turn operably attached to the connection means, and a cap means attached in air-tight and water-tight fashion to the adapter means, the adapter means also having O-ring sealing means whereby backing up sewage and water interiorly to the sewer pipe will forcibly eject the cap means and permit exterior ground flooding rather than flooding interiorly to the residence or other sewage generating facility.

  • Patent number: 4256103
Abstract: Sequential, continuous delivery of separate intravenous fluid mixtures is facilitated by a float operated valve which automatically re-starts flow from a primary solution when the selected volume of secondary fluid has been infused. The float is contained in a calibrated volumetric chamber with a drug injection port, and valved connections to primary and secondary solutions. Selected volumes of primary or secondary solution can be added to the chamber and mixed with drugs inserted through the injection port.Fluid in the calibrated chamber raises a float which closes a valve and stops fluid flow from the primary solution source. Fluid from within the chamber flows to the patient until very little fluid remains in the chamber and the float moves downward causing the valve to the primary solution to open allowing a continuous flow of intravenous fluid to the patient.

  • Patent number: 4237450
Abstract: An appliance theft alarm for mounting on or inside an electrical appliance which, when the electrical plug connecting the appliance with a wall electrical outlet is removed, will sound an audible alarm in order that the theft may be detected.Specifically, electrical apparatus is interconnected so that the electrical power cord running between the electrical appliance and the electrical wall outlet is sensed for the presence of electrical voltage, where when the electrical voltage is present, a relay is energized to inhibit the alarm circuit. When electrical voltage is removed, the relay becomes unenergized and in doing so, completes an electrical circuit for a self-contained battery to power an electrical horn or siren alarm. The battery is provided with a battery charger which is supplied ac current from the electrical line input. Additionally, a key controlled contact is provided to inhibit the alarm circuitry when desired or to interrupt the alarm when sounding.

  • Patent number: 4232437
Abstract: Means and method for reconditioning engines of the type having a head mounted cam shaft tower holding a cam shaft where the engine head has been damaged by warpage, the invention comprising a shim means for reconditioning the engine and a method for machining the top and the bottom of the engine head to obtain planar parallel surfaces, selecting the thickness of shims to generally correspond with the total thickness of the metal removed from both surfaces of the head, and installing the shims between the cam shaft towers and the head in order that the cam shaft be located at relatively the same fixed distance from the engine block as that in the engine prior to reconditioning.
