  • Patent number: 4165736
Abstract: Apparatus is described to measure the pulsatile waveform caused by blood flow to the two ocular globes through which impairment of the blood flow in one internal carotid artery relative to the other is indicative of extracranial carotid occlusive disease.Specifically, apparatus comprising eye cups having an orifice therethrough adhering to the eye by vacuum means enable connective flexible tubing interior air channel access for pressure transducers to measure the ocular globe pulsations. The flexible tubing connecting the eye cup and transducer is additionally connected to a plurality of valves, vacuum pump, and regulator, whereby the regulator and the vacuum pump create a desired partial vacuum and, by means of valves, isolation of air channels between each ocular globe and respective transducer may be accomplished.

  • Patent number: 4103365
Abstract: A method of implanting synthetic hair fibers in a person's scalp using a medical suturing needle attached to either one or a plurality of medically inert synthetic hair fibers having knots tied in the length of fiber at intervals of about ten inches. The fiber is threaded in serpentine fashion through a person's scalp below the skin where the knots are left in the third skin layer. The loops formed by the fibers above the skin are subsequently cut at their approximate center and/or the end proximate the needle so that the resultant appearance is that of a normal head of hair. The skin heals about the implanted fiber and holds it in place.

  • Patent number: 4060219
Abstract: A quick disconnect coupler with air safety check valve for placement in a compressed air system to receive an associated male plug on the end of a flexible hose connected to an associated air tool, said quick disconnect coupler providing means to hold the plug in a wedging configuration such that attempted withdrawal tightens the coupler's hold on the plug, and an air safety check valve that automatically cuts off the flow of compressed air through the valve when a certain air flow is exceeded, such as in the event that the air line connected to the plug is severed. Additionally, during removal of the plug from the inventive coupler, holding pins in the coupler retain the plug in order that compressed air in the flexible hose may be bled off before the plug is removed and additionally the coupler provides full flow air valves which air passageway exceed the size of the air passageway of a receiving male plug.

  • Patent number: 4042205
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming concrete wall panels used in tilt-up wall buildings comprising a grooved, truncated triangle shaped speed set double chamfer fixedly attached to the building floor, a side wall form adapted to nest within a groove formed in the speed set double chamfer, means attaching the side wall form to the double chamfer, and a second speed set double chamfer inverted over and fixedly attached to the wall form, the wall form nesting interior to the inverted groove of the speed set double chamfer. The concrete wall panel to be formed is poured into a form having the perimeter comprising the invention. When the concrete has set, the upper speed set double chamfer and side wall form is removed and the wall panel tilted up and emplaced.

  • Patent number: 3998456
Abstract: A football training device for training a defensive linesman player to block aside the offensive linesman in order to penetrate the offensive line and reach the ball carrier. The training device comprises a plurality of simulated offensive line players' helmets attached to spring means and arranged to present a choice such that the defensive linesman may rip to the left or the right to engage a plurality of simulated offensive linesman in a sequential order. The height and relative placement of the helmets may be varied by adjusting means connected to one end of said springs. Means are provided for a coach to stand in the center of the simulated offensive linesman training device and indicate to the defensive player which direction he is to rip.

  • Patent number: 3968486
Abstract: An electronic analog to digital converter utilizing a plurality of analog comparators, all comparators receiving a common analog input and separate respective reference voltages for comparison. The outputs of the comparators provide respectively the digital word output of the analog to digital converter wherein the output state of the comparators are dependent upon the output state of the prior higher order comparator and where the resolution of the analog to digital converter is dependent on the number of stages of comparators utilized. The referenced voltage for the least significant digital bit is determined by all prior, high order digital output. The analog to digital converter disclosed is of the asynchronous type not requiring a clock signal and the total analog to digital conversion time is nT.sub.c, where n is the number of comparator stages and T.sub.c is the response time of the comparator.
