  • Patent number: 4410917
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for recording information from a master medium onto a slave medium. Analog information on a master medium is reproduced and converted into digital information. The digital information is stored in a digital storage device. The digital information stored in the digital storage device is recovered from the digital storage device and converted from digital information into analog information. The analog information is applied to a recording device for recording the analog information onto a slave medium. Information is recorded in the digital storage device at the same rate as it is recorded on the master medium. Information is recovered from the digital storage device at a faster rate than it is recorded on the master medium and the information is recorded on a slave medium by the recording device at a faster rate than it is recorded on the master medium.

  • Patent number: 4404558
Abstract: A circuit for controlling an electrically operated garage door comprising a manually operated switch disposed within the garage. By actuating the manually operated switch twice within a prescribed period of time, the garage door is either opened or closed depending on its state. For automatically closing the garage door, a tape switch is disposed on the garage floor in the vicinity of a garage door. The tape switch extends across the garage floor in a direction to be actuated by the front and rear wheels of the vehicle. When a vehicle leaves the garage or has entered the garage, the successive actuations of the tape switch by two sets of wheels complete an operating circuit to close the garage door. The garage door is also opened by the manual operation of a digit selecting switch and a digit sequencing switch which are located outside of the garage. A preselected code is stored in a code circuit by a set of presettable mechanical switches representing the respective digits of the code.

  • Patent number: 4404549
Abstract: Mounted on a housing, which is adapted to be carried on the belt of an operator, is a manually activated alarm switch. In the event of an emergency, the operator activates the alarm switch to set off an alarm contained in the housing. The alarm switch is reset upon release. However, the alarm continues to operate until deactivated by a key switch. Formed in the housing is a suitable key slot for receiving a preselected key. The rotation of the preselected key in the key slot serves to deactivate the alarm.

  • Patent number: 4398067
Abstract: Telephone instruments have an apertured base through which project depressible dialing elements, such as touch tone keys or push buttons. A locking device for telephone instruments with depressible keys or buttons comprises a body fixed to the base and formed with a bore therethrough. Disposed within the bore of the body is a movable member that has one end thereof projecting over a depressible dialing element. By moving the movable member in one direction, a depressible dialing element is depressed to lock the telephone instrument. By moving the movable member in an opposite direction, the depressed dialing element under its own yieldable action rises to become fully extended to enable the telephone instrument to be operated.

  • Patent number: 4392248
Abstract: An attention signal receiver in which emergency broadcast transmissions are detected from various locations. A scanning circuit sequentially activates means to produce a plurality of oscillating frequencies which mix or beat with the incoming r.f. signals. An attention signal is a two tone signal that includes both a 960 H.sub.z frequency signal and a 853 H.sub.z frequency signal. The audio stage of the receiver is connected to a two tone decoder that passes only a 960 H.sub.z signal and a 853 H.sub.z signal. A squelch circuit is also connected to the audio stage of the receiver. Connected to the output of the tone decoder is a one second time delay circuit and a ten second time delay circuit. If an attention signal is detected for a period of time in excess of 1 second, the one second time delay circuit stops the scanning of the scanning circuit to lock in the receiver to the first carrier detected with an attention signal. The ten second time delay circuit normally disables the squelching circuit.

  • Patent number: 4385774
Abstract: A shock and vibration mount includes a resilient elastomeric member arranged to act with two spaced spring units, each of which includes a group of stacked, disc-shaped annular springs. Low level impacts and vibrations are transmitted from a rod, that is movable with the impacted member or with a member reacting to an impact, to the elastomeric member through either of the stacked units, high intensity shocks being attenuated first by the elastomeric member and then by one of the stacked units.

  • Patent number: 4378897
Abstract: Apparatus for volumetrically feeding dry flowable bulk material. The apparatus comprises a hopper that receives dry flowable bulk material from a storage tank of dry flowable bulk material through a rotary valve located at the top of the hopper. At the bottom of the hopper is a sliding discharge gate for the discharge of dry flowable bulk material from the hopper. Mounted on the hopper in vertically spaced relation is a high level sensor and a lower level sensor. When the height of the dry flowable bulk material in the hopper is above a predetermined height, the high level sensor is activated for the closing of the rotary valve and the opening of the discharge gate. When the height of the dry flowable bulk material in the hopper is below a predetermined height, the low level sensor closes the discharge gate and opens the rotary valve. Thus, the bulk material level in the hopper is maintained within prescribed limits to control the pressure head of the bulk material for improved feed accuracy.

  • Patent number: 4376404
Abstract: Apparatus for translating sound into a visual display comprising means for producing audio signals. The audio signals are advanced over a plurality of paths. Over one path, the audio signals are detected for voltage amplitude. Should the voltage amplitude fall within a predetermined range, a valve is operated to control the flow of liquid from a pump to a set of nozzles. Over another path, the audio signals are detected by tone detectors for dominant notes falling within various frequency bands representative of the melody of the audio signals. A resultant voltage is a function of the band of frequencies over which the dominant notes are detected. The flow of liquid from a set of nozzles is proportional to the amplitude of the voltage resulting from the band of frequencies over which the dominant notes are detected. Lamps of various colors are selectively illuminated in accordance with the band of frequencies over which the dominant notes are detected.
