  • Patent number: 7463884
Abstract: A central host performs an automated method of updating multiple remote devices. In one embodiment, the host recognizes a predetermined download time and, in advance of the download time, transmits a calendar update to multiple remote devices. The calendar update includes the download time, and the remote devices may utilize the download time to set calendar reminders for entering an active state. Within a short time after reaching the download time, the host pushes download data to the remote devices by broadcasting the download data. In one aspect, the host may receive message acknowledgements from remote devices in response to a first calendar update, and the host may automatically transmit additional calendar updates to any remote devices that did not receive the first calendar update. Additional embodiments involve related methods and the terminal devices that receive the updates.

  • Patent number: 7444505
Abstract: A system, method and apparatus for securing communications between a trusted network and an untrusted network are disclosed. A perimeter client is deployed within the trusted network and communicates over a session multiplexing enabled protocol with a perimeter server deployed within a demilitarized zone network. The perimeter client presents requests to make available and communication initiation requests to the perimeter server which presents corresponding sockets to the untrustred network. The session multiplexing capabilities of the protocol used between the perimeter server and perimeter client permit a single communication session therebetween to support a plurality of communication sessions between the perimeter server and untrusted network. In the event data flows across the communication sessions are encrypted, decryption of the data flows is left to the components at the end points of the communication session, thereby restricting exposure of privileged information to areas within trusted networks.

  • Patent number: 7443960
Abstract: A method and system for an automated departure strategy from an automated system includes a track engine and an error engine. The track engine allows for the tracking and storing of one or more utterances spoken by a caller in response to one or more prompts. In addition, the track engine classifies each of the utterances with a confidence level. The error engine determines when one of the utterances initiates an error condition and transfers the caller to an operator on the occurrence of the error condition. In addition to transferring the caller to the operator, the error engine plays to the operator an error utterance, causing the error condition, and a preceding utterance, preceding the error utterance. Furthermore, the error engine populates an operator screen with information provided by the caller in the utterances for utterances classified with a high level of confidence.

  • Patent number: 7437777
Abstract: The modified head covering has a cap portion that resembles typical head caps, as well as a pouch portion attached to the rear of the cap. This head covering allows a user having long hair to safely conceal his or her hair within the pouch portion at the rear of the head covering. The pouch portion can be cinched tightly into a “sack” or “pouch” shape through the use of a ribbon, an elastic band, or other devices. Once the pouch portion is constricted, the hair is safely concealed and kept off of the nape of the neck. The head covering can be made of a variety of fabrics with a number of patterns or colors. The modified head covering is particularly suited to medical personnel working in sterile environments, but it is useful for anyone with long hair who must conceal his or her hair inside a cap.

  • Patent number: 7438411
Abstract: A contact lens is provided in which tunable nanoparticles are embedded or otherwise coated on the lens to extinguish near-infrared energy. In one preferred embodiment, the tunable nanoparticles are nanoshells consisting of a dielectric core and a metal shell, wherein the plasmon resonance frequency is determined by the relative size of the core and the metal shell. With the capability to alter the relative size of the core and the metal shell, nanoshells are uniquely tunable nanoparticles, allowing a range of optical extinctions. In another embodiment, the nanoshells are tuned to extinguish energy from other parts of the energy spectrum. In one desired embodiment of the invention, these plasmon resonant structures are introduced into the lens polymer prior to formation or manufacturing of a lens. In another embodiment of the invention, these nanoshells are coated on a contact lens after formation of the lens.

  • Patent number: 7433265
Abstract: Coherent wave noise energy is removed from seismic data by modeling both the P-wave primary energy and the coherent wave noise energy. The P-wave primary energy is modeled first and then subtracted from the input data. The data with the P-wave primary energy removed is used as the input for coherent wave energy removal. The coherent wave energy is modeled and subtracted from the original input data, i.e. the data input into P-wave primary removal. This leaves a dataset with P-wave primary energy and noise energy not related to coherent waves. This method can be utilized to remove all types of coherent noise with a velocity difference to the desired P-wave primary energy or with a different type of moveout (change of time of arrival with source-receiver distance) such as, for example, linear moveout.

  • Patent number: 7425869
Abstract: The present invention discloses a distributed power amplifier topology and device that efficiently and economically enhances the power output of an RF signal to be amplified. The power amplifier comprises a plurality of push-pull amplifiers interconnected in a novel circular geometry that preferably function as a first winding of an active transformer having signal inputs of adjacent amplification devices driven with an input signal of equal magnitude and opposite phase. The topology also discloses the use of a secondary winding that matches the geometry of primary winding and variations thereof that serve to efficiently combine the power of the individual power amplifiers. The novel architecture enables the design of low-cost, fully-integrated, high-power amplifiers in the RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave frequencies.
