Abstract: A method for mapping relationships in a database results in a cluster graph. A representative sample of records in each of a plurality of tables in the database is analyzed for nearest neighbor join edges instantiated by the record. Records with corresponding nearest neighbor join edges are grouped into clusters. Cluster pairs which share a join relationship between two tables are identified. A weighting may be applied to cluster pairs based on the number of records for the cluster pair. Meaningful cluster pairs above a weighted threshold may be ordered according to table and displayed as a cluster graph. Analyses of the cluster graph may reveal important characteristics of the database.

Abstract: Systems and methods for band hopping and power conservation in a wireless network are described. At least one embodiment is directed a method of hopping channels by a device within a wireless network. The method comprises hopping from a first channel to a target channel, resetting a virtual carrier sense after hopping to the target channel to enable service on the target channel, waiting for a pre-determined period of time, and setting a virtual carrier sense on the target channel after expiration of the pre-determined period of time and prior to hopping to a next target channel.

Abstract: A new class of photoactivatable dyes provides the ability to study cell-cell communication in live animals non-invasively with high spatiotemporal resolution. The compositions are made up of a macromolecule, a caging group, and a coumarin dye. Upon photolysis, the coumarin dye is released from the macromolecule caging group complex and is freely diffusible in cells and between cells. The compositions are retained in cells very well, having no observable side effects, no susceptibility to metabolism, and the ability to generate bright fluorescence signals after photolysis. Because of their high loading capacity and long cellular retention, they can be selectively uncaged in specific cells.

Abstract: A system for generation of accounts payable processing system tax rules is provided. A tax account system generates an account for a tax jurisdiction. An over-tax rule system generates one or more rules for processing a tax amount in excess of a required tax amount associated with the tax jurisdiction. An under-tax rule system generates one or more rules for processing a tax amount that is less than the required tax amount associated with the tax jurisdiction.

Abstract: A communication device such as a smart phone is enabled for remotely controlling set-top boxes (STBs) over Internet protocol networks using an applet running on the communication device. Authentication from within a multimedia content distribution network may be achieved by verifying that a network identifier associated with the communication device is associated with an account that has granted access to the smart phone and that is associated with the controlled STB. A viewing pane on the communication device permits a user to remotely view content received on or available to the controlled STB.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for providing lyrics with streaming music. A music stream is accessed that includes timing information for a song. Lyrics and other textual information such as song title, song artist, and album title are also accessed. A lyric file may be accessed that includes further timing information. The timing information is used to synchronize the song lyrics and music stream. A user may be permitted access to the synchronized lyrics and music stream by presentation on a display through a digital television set-top box.

Abstract: Included are embodiments for network allocation. More specifically, one embodiment of a method includes receiving, at a first communications device, without a prior RTS signal being sent, a first clear to send (CTS) signal from a second communications device, addressed to the first communications device, the CTS signal indicating a data exchange duration and sending a second CTS signal, from the first communications device, to the second communications device.

Abstract: A computer program product includes computer executable instructions, stored on a computer readable medium, for allocating bandwidth among various network provided communication services. The executable instructions include instructions to process a subscriber request to specify a bandwidth allocation, determine a multimedia bandwidth allocation indicative of bandwidth allocated to multimedia content, and generate a multimedia content request. The multimedia content request is influenced by the multimedia bandwidth allocation. In some embodiments, for example, the multimedia content request includes multimedia bandwidth information determined at least in part by the multimedia bandwidth allocation. The multimedia bandwidth information may indicate the bandwidth available for multimedia content, which may be determined from the multimedia bandwidth allocation less any bandwidth allocated to or otherwise consumed by other multimedia layers.

Abstract: An apparatus for pitching and splitting a masonry block is provided. The apparatus includes a first pitching blade configured to move in a first direction. A second pitching blade is disposed adjacent to the first pitching blade, and the two pitching blades are separated by a distance that is small enough so that the splits initiated by each blade join into a single plane, thereby pitching and splitting the masonry block without the need for a splitting blade.

Abstract: This disclosure provides a method transmitting a network content, comprising: receiving a first data stream of a network content over a first link; forming a second and third data streams from the first data stream; sending the second data stream over a second link and the third data stream over a third link; and aggregating the second and third data streams to form the first data stream. In the present method, the first data stream may be split or load-balanced over the second and third data streams. The method further provides pulling packets from the second and third data streams; discarding duplicate packets; and assembling the remaining packets according to a protocol sequence number. The method also provides for monitoring links and for switching the data stream from a link that may be degraded.

Abstract: A method for supporting anonymous transactions includes storing a first profile comprising first information associated with a first client. The first information includes identifying data and non-identifying data associated with the first client. The method also includes storing a second profile including second information associated with the first client. The second information includes at least a portion of the non-identifying data from the first profile. The method further includes receiving a request from the first client to engage in an anonymous transaction. The anonymous transaction is associated with a product. In addition, the method includes communicating an order for the product to one of the clients and facilitating completion of the order using the first profile. The second client can gain at least partial access to the second profile but not to the first profile associated with the first client.

Abstract: The present invention discusses a computerized method for managing a communication network through processing data used in a Capacity Management System (CMS) associated with the communication network. A configurable grammar, such as an XML grammar with regular expressions, is used to implement various aspects of network management. Data management includes pre-processing data (transferring data, decompressing data, parsing data), loading data into a relational database, and data analysis. Results of data analysis can be used to determine a network condition, and thereby to enable network management.

Abstract: A network-based announcement and message delivery service for providing a landline customer with information of interest such as weather, financial market data, time/temperature, sporting event results, etc. In a first embodiment, information is provided to a subscriber who simply lifts the handset of the telephone. The subscriber instead of hearing a dial tone hears the information in the form of streaming audio. In another embodiment, information is provided to the subscriber by way of information displayed on a caller-ID display and/or by way of talking caller-ID.

Abstract: A multiplex electrical receptacle adapted for receiving at least a pair of power cords, such that the ground prongs of the power cords are directed outward from the center of the multiplex electrical receptacle in a “grounds out” configuration. The electrical receptacle of this invention includes an electrical outlet receptacle having a receptacle body, a conductive mounting strap, a conductive live blade receiving assembly, a conductive neutral blade receiving assembly, and a nonconductive housing.

Abstract: A method for migrating a legacy translation map to an evolved translation map includes determining an input file structure from input file structure information in the legacy translation map, determining an output file structure from output file structure information in the legacy translation map, and creating an XML binding object representation of source code for the input and output file structure. The method may further include creating an evolved language object representation of translation instructions in the legacy translation map, adding temporary segments to the XML binding object representation for the input file structure, and generating evolved language object representation of instructions to write input data into the temporary segments. The evolved language object representation of translation instructions is then merged into the XML binding object representation.

Abstract: A bar gun holster assembly for receiving a bar gun. Bar guns are used to dispense beverages, typically soda and/or water therefrom. A holster assembly is a device that provides a place for a user to put the bar gun, nozzle first when it is not being used. Applicant's bar gun includes three components: a mounting plate, a holster portion, and a drain portion. The mounting plate is designed to attach to a support surface, such as the underside of a table or bar. The holster portion includes a cylindrical bar gun nozzle receiving member for receiving the nozzle of a bar gun slideably therein. The drain body is adapted to receive fluids dripping from the end of a nozzle and passing them to a drain line. Applicant's device includes walls that releasably couple the three members one to the other.

Abstract: The present invention overcomes various problems by defining two upstream masks (U1, U2) and two downstream masks (D1, D2) and using a mask selectable system for the long reach digital subscriber line (LDSL), in which a unique modem feature is activated during handshake to automatically check for physical layer status in terms of spectral compatibility and, thus, automatically optimize the boosted mode with the use of the mask selectable system choose the best combination of upstream/downstream masks in any physical layer noise scenario.

Abstract: A system for monitoring and tracking vehicles in parking locations, public roadways and highway entrances and exits and other public vehicle access areas is provided, such as to monitor and track vehicles in parking spaces, public roadways and highways without the need for parking or traffic personnel. The system includes a meter system that generates image data of a vehicle in a parking space, public roadway and highway entrances and exits such as by creating an array of pixel data in a predetermined field of view that includes a vehicle identification tag and facial imaging.
